you can go to college that doesnt mean your smarter then the next guy. I got a buddy goin to college for psychology and yeah hes book smart but where it counts hes pretty retarded. so i'd say it takes all kinds buddy. just cause ur smart in one area doesnt make u a genius in others.

einstein wasnt potty trained till he was like 6 and couldn't do alot of things until he was older then most kids before doing #. i'm sure his parents thought he was gonna be retarded.

That is your thread?

You complain about the "experts" and then you are acting like one yourself.

What "experts" are you talking about? I don't see anyone claim to be an expert in anything on here. They give information, many give out amazingly thoughtout and researched information. There are all walks of life on here and I would imagine that some really are experts in their field.

Yes the world has ended in a sense before, it happens all the time. The planet is billions of years old..it will happen again.

It is called hypocrisy....this is a forum that invites members to share information, ideas and opinions freely - all the more so if you have some expertise or at least something to contribute (even if it is a darker criticism or a lighter witticism).

I spend my entire day on ATS reading thank you. I don't read ones with sensational crap titles. I also don't believe everything people post on here. I do my own research...so yeah I read A LOT on ATS and online...

There are some who have all higher than thou attitudes but I bet they are like that in their personal lives.

Interesting article it states:

Only one in ten species survived, and these formed the basis for the recovery of life in the subsequent time period, called the Triassic.

I thought that the extinction levels were much higher with 1/2 families wiped out, and 90% of all genera wiped out. The species loss was estimated to have been much higher than 90%.

Thanks for posting the article.

What does this have to do with 2012?

The article says one in ten survived..
You say 90% should have been wiped out..

If my rusty math is correct it's the same thing..
So what's your issue?

Experts are just a group of people trying to understand things just like you. I am sorry if you feel offended by facts. The fact is, "is this world going to end?" Yes, as a matter of fact that is true this world will someday come to an end. Is it possible that something from space will collide and send us all into the beyond? Yes, in fact something like that is thought to have send the dino's into their oblivion. Is it going to happen on 2012? The fact is no one really knows, what is known is that the Mayan's were extremely adapt on astrological observations. That is the only thing known don't disparage those just trying to get out info. That is bad for everyone but that's okay everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Humanity will end long before the world does anyway.

Hey guessing...
That whole little, "Not in your lifetime" thing was the response I got from all the thousands of questions I asked my mom...what if? What? ?What???? It always made me feel somewhat better: Not in your lifetime, no need to worry...hee hee..."cough."

Uhm, I for one living on this planet care greatly if the world ends since in fact that would be the end of everyone and everything living. No one know's when or how and it is true that humanity as a species has been obnoxious at times in the understanding of events around them. But, the end of humanity as we know it has been foretold since Greek times and probably since Hittite times or earlier and we are still here as a species.

Without trying to be an expert I will give my opinion of what I think happens. We here on Earth go through cycles. At the end of every cycle we come across a catastrophe, and from there we must rebuild knowing that down the track somewhere we must go through this again.

Do certain people know when these catastrophes come about? Maybe they do, maybe they don't, but if you knew when the end was would you share it with every person on the planet? That is why we are here sharing ideas and different points of view. Nobody is an expert, but at least we are all trying to understand something which may or may not happen in our lifetimes.

Here is something I found from another thread which makes me feel we go through cycles.

The Great Year, or Precession of the Equinoxes, is a 25,920 year cycle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The precession of the equinoxes refers to the observable phenomena of the rotation of the heavens, a cycle which spans a period of (approximately) 25,920 years, over which time the constellations appear to slowly rotate around the earth, taking turns at rising behind the rising sun on the vernal equinox.

This remarkable cycle is due to a synchronicity between the speed of the earth's rotation around the sun, and the speed of rotation of our galaxy.

The Precession of the equinoxes = 25,920 yrs = (360° rotation)

If the sky is divided into 12 constellations: (25,920 / 12 = 2,160)
(Note: 6 x 10 x 6 = 360 and 360 x 6 = 2,160)

A New sign appears on the horizon each 2,160 yrs (30°)
Note: (2 x 2,160 or 12 x 360 = 4,320 yrs)

Therefore to move 1° on the horizon = 72 yrs.

The following numbers can therefore be regarded as precessionary:
(12 ... 30 ... 72 ... 360 ... 2,160 ... 4,320 and 25,920)

The Precession of the equinoxes, by ancient-wisdom.co.uk
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Great Year is separated into 4 ages, of 6,480 years each, or according to Hinduism in the ratio 4:3:2:1. Every time we move between one of these ages, a big catastrophe occurs. The last time was a big flood, the Deluge. Every culture has stories of the flood. Modern science pretends that it didn't happen just because they don't want to admit to something in the Bible being true, but the evidence is overwhelming (look it up.)

Something worth doing a bit of research on.
