I am tired of all the experts here. So I thought I would post something that proves the end of the world has happened before and is likely to happen again.

I do not proclaime to know the hour nor the the method of our extinction like so many others

I know that it nearly happened before and odds are it will happen again.

but you provided the same method as other ATS expersts have used in the past for all their claims.
A link to an article that helps their side of the argument

I absolutely agree about the world ending. It's not a matter of if, but when. But I also wouldn't put down some of the Experts here on ats. A lot of them are self described as experts but I know of a few people on here that do some real standup research and know what they're talking about.

I think most people know the end is a "when" over and "if". They just want a clue to when is going to be.

Instead of complaining why don't you become an expert in something.... I have been an expert witness in a court trial, you could be too. Once the court declares you an expert.....you are an expert.

What I am sick of people claiming to be an expert with little or no education....I didn't spend 7 years of my life after high school sitting around to have some chump tell me I know nothing. I worked my butt off in school and got where I am now through my studies. ....

P.S You somewhat sound bitter too.

There's no experts here unless they show proof..
Only members with differing opinions..Each opinion carries the same weight IMO..

Though I don't recall anyone stating a mass extinction has never occurred..

How does this prove the end of the world. has already happened..

The "end of the world " would involve, the PLANET and all of it's inhabitants ceasing to exist..

This only proves that extinction is possible..So yes This could prove the end of a Civilization..But not the world.

You kind of doomed this thread from the beggining with that line right there for me, the world has never ended, if it had ended there wouldn't be a world here.

Either that or your usage of the "end" is flawed?

To me the term "end" signifies destruction, total destruction. If that had happened already we wouldn't be sitting here as there would be nothing but empty space where the earth should be. Do you get my point?

Now on to the main part of your thread,

Your tired of all the experts here on ATS? Why?

Is it not a good thing to have people who are experts in their respective feilds of study?

I'm not talking about those self proclaimed experts either

The world hasn't ended...its still here..see, look outside. voila.

Now, big and bad things happen as the long term norm, sure. The thing most "experts" debunk here are nonsense claims...Obama got elected, therefore the world is going to end. People are becoming less religious, therefore the end is nigh, etc.
Also, perspective...sure, there will be catastrophic events in the history of mankind, but not every earthquake or thunderstorm is going to be the end of it all. People are simply freaked out about nature and instead of researching properly, they come on here or elsewhere and start screaming the sky is falling. If there was no voice of reason, well..just imagine if every single wacky claim was immediately fully supported and acted on..imagine for just a moment everyone went out and quit their job, stocked up on food, and hid in their bunker for every time someone claimed the sky is falling.

Its best to consider the worst, but don't assume the worst until you are informed..information is salvation.

Long recovery from the largest extinction in history revealed in China's new fossil site

A major new fossil site in south-west China has filled in a sizeable gap in our understanding of how life on this planet recovered from the greatest mass extinction of all time, according to a paper co-authored by Professor Mike Benton, in the School of Earth Sciences, and published this week in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B. The work is led by scientists from the Chengdu Geological Center in China.

Ichthyosaur

Reinforcing this conclusion is the complexity of the food web, with the bottom of the food chains dominated by species typical of later Triassic marine faunas – such as crustaceans, fishes and bivalves – and different from preceding ones. Just as important is the ‘debut’ of top predators – such as the long-snouted bony fish Saurichthys, the ichthyosaur Mixosaurus, the sauropterygian Nothosaurus and the prolacertiform Dinocephalosaurus – that fed on fishes and small predatory reptiles.

Wow, 20,000 fossils, that's a lot of digging and brushing.

Aahh, the "ebb and flow" of nature, a wonderful thing. Destruction can be beautiful.

There is no real end of the world, it just keeps changing and one day will return to starstuff and be part of many things to come. Just like us.

Thanks for posting.

Hey guessing,
The world isn't going to end, not in your lifetime. No worries...you're not that special.

Not ended but there was a Great Deluge that resulted in many "extinctions"....just read the story of Noah or Gilgamesh.

I would like to add some thing about the education thing....just because one has an education in something DOES not necessarily make them an Expert.....I know and have seen many Experts in various field whom have little or no Education but have devoted a lifetime to their particular field of interests.
Many Experts become so based on personal experince...a brother or sister dying of a particualr decease.
and interest in a species of insect or animal that intrigues then.
a study of plant life where no one else has an interest.
Many people whom have a education are Experts by how they were taught which is not always what it was cracked up to be.
I think Expertise through experience far outweighs Expertise just through regimental teaching as sometimes that sort of training can put up blinders to becoming open to new ideas that may be introduced into some subject matter.
Also one thing to keep in mind is that this site is anomynous so therefore anyone can say they are an Expert...but by the same token when someone is skilled in a particular field and they say so ...they can get torn to shreds just for mentioning that they are trained in that said field of study.

Yes education does not make one an "expert"....it makes one erudite but not an expert. That comes from experience from which it shares the same root word. It is from doing and gaining "experiential" knowledge that one becomes expert in anything.....and then there are degrees (not necessarily scholarly degrees) of that. Kind of like Rumsfeld's degrees of "knowing" (known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns). Very few are complete experts in any one area.....it is all relative.

No it wouldn't necessarily.

You might want to look up the definition of the word "world". It can mean anything from your own mind, a particular way of life, a class or group of people........... all the way up to the entire universe and everything that exists.

I think what you don't get is that under a definition...... the end of a civilization = the end of the world.

It doesn't even have to mean the end of a whole civilization, only part.
