Agreed. We are even exposed to minute levels of radiation every day, from the soil beneath our feet. Nature produces radiation naturally. Even the levels detected at that airport on the west coast, from a plane that came from Japan, was well below any danger levels, according to the FAA.

Perhaps lack of any real evidence? And perhaps the fact that any radiation of dangerous levels simply are not making it to the US, not even Hawaii.

Does anyone have any exact readings for the Midwest; I live in that area. So, it would be nice to know exactly what's going on, although I doubt the US inhabitants will much to worry about unless you're unlucky enough to live on the West Coast.

We as humans can tolerate up to 50mb of radiation before it makes us sick. And thats a lot.

I don't know why you think the west coast has a magic barrier against radiation that prevents it from reaching the rest of the world? We are just the first people to get hit with the stuff. This will effect the entire northern hemisphere.

Then I guess we should get rid of the thousands of Green EXIT signs in all buildings?

There is nowhere to evacuate to. That's the problem. The radiation is blanketing the entire United States. It would be impractical to tell people it's harmful. Think about it.

You don't need "credible evidence" to know that inhaling one particle of a radioactive isotope will give you lung cancer. Geiger counters are also not going to help us measure the different types of radioactive isotopes floating around in the air.

If there is a "serious" threat then I know for a fact your mood wouldn't be "excellent" like it says under your name...It's ok, only the media can cause this type of mass hysteria....

The government once again asleep at the switches. I pay tax dollars towards those air monitors functioning properly 24/7. I am angry about this entire situation and the lack of information. A lot of people are. It's really strange to trivialize people worrying about, oh i don't know, getting cancer 10 years from now because they went outside during a rain storm?

If I was in Government and needed to make the population distracted from the very real threat of radiation clouds from the japan crisis, I would follow these simple steps.

1. Focus all media outlets on a Middle East crises or speed up the timeline with a war that was already planned. (Libya)
2. Fix all Radiation monitoring stations in a loop type setting.
3. Place live streams to rigged Geiger counters across the USA.
4. Put a team on the Internet spreading misinformation to confuse or to reaffirm that there is nothing to worry about.

I hope this isn’t the case but it wouldn’t surprise me. In our current state, it is better to have the masses spending money to boost the economy then it is to have them locked in there basements.

Trust but Verify! Better safe then sorry.
