My mother quit cold turkey 20 years ago. She quit on my birthday. She made it a birthday present to me. She's now almost 80 years old and running around pretty well for someone her age and with her heart issues.

My father didn't quit. He smoked, on average 3 packs a day. Sometimes four. He started at age 14. He died at age 79. His lungs gave out. He smoked himself to death. It was very selfish of him to do that. We kids didn't have much and he spent all that money on cigs for himself.

QUIT ... do it for yourself but also for those dragons of yours. You wouldn't want to leave them (or anyone else) behind before your time. AND the $$ you'd save could go for some fun things instead of for an early funeral.


SO .. BANNED so you'll have time to go run around the internet and look at pictures of smokers lungs after death. If that doesn't scare ya' into going cold turkey ... nothing will.

Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to write out a lengthy and caring response to me!

Without going into detail, abuse and trauma led me to a mindset where I really didn't want to live any longer. Since January of last year, I have started changing MANY unhealthy habits...and smoking will be the last to go.
I have cut down to half of what I was smoking, and know that I will end it soon...I do have a 'date' in mind, and I'm working towards it.

Banned for showing me more concern than my 'real life' people do.
Nah, screw it! You can stay....THEY should be banned, lol!
