Apple has come under fire for approving an "app" that offers guidance on how homosexual people can be "cured" and convert to heterosexuality

The "gay cure" application, designed to be used on Apple's hand-held devices, was created by and named after Exodus International, a religious organisation which believes in teaching "freedom from homosexuality through prayer and practicing conversion therapy".

Whats the problem with this app? Because it endeavors to provide steps for an individual to change their lifestyle?

Why is this any different than an app that helps you lose weight? Clearly there are folks who are biologically and/or emotionally geared to being overweight and over eating and there are a bunch of apps that are meant to help those folks change their lifestyle.

This is no different. If the gay pressure groups are that concerned about this, why don't they simply come up with an app to assist folks to come out of the closet?

Free speach is free speach. I've heard these Exodus folks on both the radio and have seen them on TV - they are about two steps away from speaking in tongues and snake charming. Nobody is going to use the app and frankly, having it out there, IMO makes their entire movement look foolish, which it is.

The level of sensitivity that currently exists in this society is sickening. Get over it

Because being homosexual isn't a condition or sickness to be cured. These "treatment" camps that try to change sexual orientation have been shown to increase depression and suicide in the people that undergo it. I'm not gay, but have family members who are and I find this repulsive. An app that helps you lose weight, that's to improve your health as being genetically predisposed to obescence makes you more suceptable to heart attack, diabetes, and other health risks. Being gay does not harm your health and people who are able to come out in an accepting environment register more satisfaction with their lives than when they were living in the closet.

Now tell me, you really think this is something that should be out there for teens confused about their sexual orientation? This is complete rubish and should be removed from the app store before anymore bible thumpers try to stuff it down other's throats!

I see no problem with this app. The gay pc is getting on my nerve.

If they wish to download this app in hopes that they will be "cured", whos to say they can't? Its not like it's forced on anyone.

People shouldn't complain about it, but what's the reason why they made that app?

They are confused and always on their guard because if being Gay was natural...ummm they would feel natural and we would see it as natural. Nature didn't intend it, nor did god. Fat people don't whine with weight loss apps or commercials, so why do the gays?? Not really sure but, I have noticed a trend in homosexuality; they were either, raped, treated very poorly, Had parent and divorce issues, low income, or high neglected income, bad friendships, no relationship with mom or dad, etc. I have not seen, heard of, or met a homosexual with a good clean back round. Being Gay is brought on by low self esteem and poor upbringing.

Get over it. There are a million diff. apps. I dont see anyone causing a scene about all the porn apps. Or many other apps for that matter. If someone wants to download an app to "cure them of being gay" (haha god luck) then thats their own choice!! && If they DONT want to change, they wont download it! Its that simple.

Gay conversion doesn't work, it just makes people angry all the time. I've seen this stuff tried in real life and it isn't good. So hopefully they don't charge people for this crap.

I don't see any thing wrong with this app though.

This is no different.

You must be a huge proponent of popping out as many babies as possible if you think homosexuality is on par with being overweight. That's the only logical problem I can see someone having with homosexuality.

So don't download the app if you find it offensive, how is that a problem.

I find all the various porn image apps offensive and I don't download them. Problem solved.

That may be the single most idiotic comment I've seen on this site. And that's saying alot.

You say it's not natural...then why does it occur in just about every animal species on the planet? Why do they not feel natural? Because bigots like you are constantly downing them for their lifestyle. The two members of my family that are homosexual (a guy and a girl) were not raped, treated poorly, didn't come from broken or poor homes, or any of the other claptrap that you spew above. It's mainly uneducated, scared, little people that claim there is something wrong, unnatural, or that "it's a choice" in regards to being gay.

Being gay has many health complications. Such as sodomy ; damage to anal tissue, damage to prostate tissue both lead to cancer, Easier transfer of HIV, and almost all other stds. Also anal sex leads to disruption of intestinal and stomach digestion. When women mix mucosa, it leads to many of the same diseases as would sodomy, and also leads to a disease similar to cauliflower ear which eventually leads to damaged tissue which can turn into cancer cells and infection and would cause death, infertility, and tissue loss or degredation. The list of complications goes on and on.

Actually it does not. I am In the medical field and know that all of these complications happen in 12% of heterosexual sex, in gay sex 63% suffer disease and medical complications. Are you in the medical field or do you just google?

We're all given a choice in life. No one is forcing you to download the app, and if a person truly is gay they won't fall for the app either. So all I see is a bunch of drama queens whining over a crappy app. But answer me this, do you think the same uproar would have happened if you found a, "Turn a straight guy gay" app?

I don't have any problem with people being gay, but I've always been confused about something.

The pro-gay croud always saying that you are born gay, which means it's something genetic.

The fact that there are gay animals also gives more evidence to this point.

So, if being gay is genetic, doesn't it mean that being gay is in fact a genetic "defect"

Attaching negativity to a defect is up to the person to do, but the way I see it being gay is a genetic defect. Why does that have to be negative? Having a third nipple or red hair is also a genetic defect or mutation, so why can't gay people just say "yeah, I have a genetic defect that makes me this way" It's nothing to be ashamed of, and being oversensitive to it doesn't make much sense.

If it's not a choice, and not genetic, then being gay doesn't exist at all I guess!

Anyway, as far as the OP, I could definitely see that App as being offensive to some, but so what? Go cry in the corner. I'm tired of people whining about being offended. Get over it.
