Wrong? Why? Just a theory and a common sense one at that..If i heard that sound and i lived in as close proximity to an airport as these people obviously do then i wouldn't be thinking it was a tornado thats for sure.

Classic. You are dismissing countless first hand accounts...

You know, you may be right. I'm thinking maybe a downed power line and the flash was the result of an arc. How do you live next to a tornado though if you don't mind me asking?
In addition to hearing the rumblings where I live in MD, my husband and I once heard something like that at the beach in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. It was really eerie. It was also one of the rare times my husband heard and acknowledged the strangeness of such a sound. He's very familiar with that beach since childhood and never heard anything quite like that. Now I'm reading other ATS members have heard that sound in that region, too. On that day while the sounds were taking place the sky took on a very strange look, too. It looked almost fake, like a painting or tapestry. It is very hard to describe. I could guess it might have been some kind of weather front moving in, as there were some clouds, but no storm materialized.

I too have been lurking ATS for about two years. I never posted but I just read your post and my mouth dropped open. My wife and I heard the exact same rumbling and boom as you. It was 20 years ago and we have never forgot how weird it was. We were living by the ocean on Cape Cod and heard a loud machine-like rumble coming from out over the ocean and lasting at least 30 minutes. There was a loud boom sounding like someone hitting an empty oil tank with a sledge hammer ( or the tail gate of a dump truck banging) and then the rumbling stopped. We have never heard it again in 20 years.

Wingedbull, you have described your denial very well by projecting to others the reverse.

So everybody is making up stories or mishearing 'copters, planes, trains and the neighbor's farts?

The noise from the videos sounds like a pumpjack running far off in the distance to me. This would explain the rhythmn you are hearing. They can be heard from many, many miles away. Used to pump oil out of the ground.
