The same reason any other thread is moved to the HOAX bin.... Because it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt, to be a hoax...It was closed for the same reason any other thread is closed... Forming movements? ATS does not care what you do in your private life... But you are not allowed to have forum gangs here... It promotes abuse and harassment... Some get mad because they are one of the few forums who actually enforce their rules, and do so as fairly as possible. Sure, the mods make the wrong decision on occasion. But they are all volunteers... They come from different walks of life, different backgrounds, religions, races, etc... They work together and discuss each case, and decide together what they think the most appropriate action is... Simple as that.

As I said before, it is no secret that the mods are all volunteers... And no, to my knowledge, none of the mods are millionaires... The mods all come from different walks of life and have differing opinions and their own life. They moderate here in their free time. They do it because they love this site and are happy to help out.

Now as for why this is such a nice site... Take a look around. See the ads on this site? Do you think the owners are allowed advertisers to put them up for free? The owners of this website, make money off of this website via ads... Moderators ( they are not owners) agree to help out and volunteer to make sure the rules are enforced....

So, you have the advertisers who pay to have their ads on this site, to thank for how nice this site looks.

Why did you ban andy the guy who was complaining about police harrassment ?

I honestly don't know what case you are talking about but for what it is worth, they don't usually discuss action taken against members other than those who are directly involved. But for what it is worth I can take a few pretty good educated guesses on to why he may have been banned.

1. He violated the T&C too many times and that resulted in his banning.
2. He violated rules, and refused to follow them after the mods took lesser action on him, which led to his banning.
3. A combination of 1 and 2.

As for why they don't like people talking about drugs. They used to allow mention of drugs, but it always led to people going into detail about their illegal drug usage. This is a private website and they do not want the discussion of illegal activities, and people telling stories of doing illegal things, on their site... If you killed some one, they would not want you telling people on here about that either....

If you don't like it... You are more than welcome to go to a different website, that allowed the discussion of personal drug use.

I'm sure Sorcha Faal is a Sucha Fail just like Gaddaffi is a hired goon, but that still doesn't give the UN the right to invade Libya, if you catch my drift. A word of advice for the experienced members who have certain preconceived notions concerning Sorcha Faal, why not educate new members as to why Sorcha Faal is a faker and a hoax instead of just using her/his/it's name like a seal of approval or more like a seal of rejection for anything you consider to be fake. It initially made me suspicious when people just said Sorcha Faal with no argument or reason backed up and the thread being sent to the hoax bin. You also have to understand that new members do not have the time or energy to look through the previous threads so not everyone is current on the history of ATS and who they think are hoaxers vs. who they think is legitimate. And Obama is a hoaxer too but not everything he says gets thrown into the hoax bin, some things to think about ATS.

No, not fictional because if people do a Google search for ATS being a CIA front - it's pretty much all over the web. Banning users who question this kind of topic certainly adds to the suspicions.

If people wanted to piggyback ATS traffic - all they would have to do is create user accounts and link topics to various webs sites that wanted your traffic. It is illogical to ban users that question an ATS conspiracy, when ATS is supposedly a conspiracy site.
