In a truly incredible example of the complete disregard for the health and safety of the American people, President Obama today told Americans that they should NOT prepare for radiation from the possible meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. His exact quote: "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and public health experts do not recommend people in the U.S. take precautionary measures beyond staying informed."

What he says is you should watch TV and listen to the government because they know best as to what's going on. Personally I wouldn't trust Obama with a potato gun. He's an NWO mouthpiece, nothing more. People should prepare themselves regardless. Just in case something does happen. If he was on the side of the people he should have put an advisory out but in a calm way as to not panic people. But to tell them to do nothing but watch TV is very irisponsible and stupid.

Meh, I'm not too worried. Fear, doom, and panic about this nuclear meltdown topic will ensue for a few weeks, then most likely nothing will come of it. Soon, we'll move onto a new topic that is threatening humanity and that we are being denied the truth about.

If i had several bunkers, unlimited food and armies of men to die for me, i wouldn't worry much either.

I don't think people should panic, but I don't think we should blindly follow the gov't either. There's a calm, rational balance. We DO pay them to keep tabs on things, but it's up to us individually do what we individually believe we need to do.

I already had thyroid probs before the whole scare - further depleting my iodine would cause me increased sickness, therefore, I started taking kelp on the 11th. It's what I needed to do. Another person with hyperthyroidism - it would harm them to do what I did - so people really need to not panic, but look at their needs and see what they personally need to do IF the need should arise.

Not fear, but knowledge and thoughtful acts will keep you safe and sound.

I personally am appalled at how worried some Americans are over themselves when the radiation is exponentially more of a threat to Japan and much, much, much of a threat to Russia and some other nations than it will ever be to the United States.

Yet you have people buying iodine tablets in SoCal. >_>

I am no nuclear physicist but I know enough to know this, even if things get quite a bit worse, poses little to no threat to the United States. That is the scientific reality at this point.

Hmmmmm back in 1986 the Chernobyl nuclear reactor in the Ukraine melted down And put a lot more radioactive material into the atmosphere than what has been released so far with the Fukushima nuclear power plant And by the time that the plume reached the U.S. it was so diluted that it was barely measurable. And way back then all the Chicken littles in the world were screaming at the top of their lungs "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" "everyone needs to prepare for the nuclear holacoust that is headed to the U.S. From the Russkies."

iodine only protects humans from thyroid cancer. however if you take in to much iodine and you haven't been exposed to radiation then you run the risk of damaging your thyroid.

Now i don't like Obama and i'm not about to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do. But i Do suggest that you use a little bit of common sense.

Japan is 5,000 miles from the west coast of the U.S. the amount of radiation released so far is less than what was released from Chernobyl. there wasn't any health risks to the U.S. from Chernobyl and their isn't any risks now. Obama is only saying that its not necessary to prepare for this "nuclear holocost" because there are people that have been running out buying up iodine and taking it preventative and now they are at a great risk of health problems than before they took it. I'm sure a few people on ATS are just the people to do it judging by replies to threads about Japan lately.

Lets hope all those predictions are wrong about the 19-21 March 2011 because IF it was to transpire.....you know why Obama is heading South.....and my bet is his aircraft WON'T be empty and there will be another right behind it also full.

Obviously we should just listen to our all mighty government.

They wouldn't lie to us.... at least that's what they said.

Japan the nation that was bombed twice by Atomic Bombs, has one of the worlds most concentrated collection of Atomic reactors.

Or at least that's what we're told. Do you know that for a fact? Personally, as Chernobyl did not have explosions taking out the outer casing...I'm guessing that with several times the number of reactors, as well as at least one being MOX, that what is coming out of those reactors in Japan is quite a bit worse than Chernobyl.

Uhm he is right in this case. If preparing is taking iodine pills and being rdy to run. Listen it will hit us but it won't be mutation galore. as A leader what would wish most for? Your people chugging iodine pills and running around like headless chickens and then dying. Or a few cases if any radioactive poisoning. hmmm use your head. What looks better millions trampled running from Radiation or three people die of said poisoning?

I agree radiation from Japan is not much of a threat to us. However we definitely should prepare, and this tragedy is a good reminder to do so. With all the earthquake activity around the world, volcanoes and weather etc,. going on, we have nuclear plants also and this could happen somewhere closer to home to any one of us. So take this as a que to get prepared!

I think it's better to be prepared than not. I myself have bought Kelp pills just in case. You never know what's coming round the corner. I am also preparing to plant vegetables just in case of the Worlds food supply being destroyed by radiation in the atmosphere screwing up the crop polonisation. Telling people to sit in front of a TV and do nothing is nuts. Advising people to prepare just in case is a better way of ruling the population. He should be looking out for the people's welfare. But the problem here is he is just a puppet on a string doing and saying everything the New World Order repeat to him and making sure their Agenda 21 program get's implemented.

He's not interested in preparing the people hence why he is buggering off sown to South America. He knows what's possibly coming and he doesn't want you to know!!

Obama is beginning to become as annoying as GW was in his last term.

Just remember to act like your doing what they tell you, but don't ever do what anyone tells you before researching it yourself.
