If you thin welfare is so much better, then go on welfare.

If you dont want to be tested at work, go to a different job. There is no different welfare system. A system that we the people have paid into for relief in hard times.

I am in total support of this.

Although i am not in any way anti drugs (Jeez, I have taken a few in my time!) I am against tax payers money going to people who are then spending that money on drugs. If my money is going to spent on drugs, I feel it is only fair that I should be the one who gets to enjoy them.

It's discriminatory? If you're receiving government funds you should not be using them to buy illicit substances. End of story. Get a job and do drugs, it works for plenty of Americans

It appears this idea is upsetting some drug addics on welfare - they seem afraid they will be caught

You are talking food stamps, not welfare, and food stamps come on a debit card now, and not actual vouchers.

I have seen that too, what people do is buy other people's stuff with the card and get cash from the person, still, I am more sick of corporate welfare than poor people.

Billions going to oil companies as subsidies should piss people off more.

There is a serious problem with this kind of legislation: It assumes that anyone collection welfare is a drug addict. It unfairly targets those who are breaking no additional laws while on welfare.

And if the law passes? Just one more step toward full-blown fascism.

Yes, because anyone who opposes this legislation is automatically a drug addict on welfare.

Try using your head for once. There's something called LOGIC and I'm not sure if you've heard of it, since you clearly lack it here.

Yes, more laws to restrict the people. I thought the pro-freedom crowd here would oppose such malarkey?

Corporate welfare doesn't bother people because they're brainwashed to think that giving corporations and rich people money will produce jobs in return.

This is why they attack each other. It's a classic trick that never fails.

Urrrg two Statist creations that should never exist,,,welfare (incentivised poverty) and drug laws (collective jurisdiction over individuals bodies)...

How about I keep what I earn and visa versa, and I decide what goes in my body, and visa versa.

Capish?

It is unreal to me that people think this is a bad idea. Unless your argument is that it would cost more to implement, you really do not have one at all. It is very simple.

Why should hard working americans support unemployed person's drug habit with taxpayer money that should be going to our communities?

Do you have an argument against that?

And do the people that claim they have friends who work and do drugs, why shouldn't they be drug tested? Well, let me see:

A) They were obviously clean at one point to pass the drug test which got them the job, (provided there was a mandatory drug test), and IF there was no drug test...

B) your friend can obviously balance doing drugs and work and not get fired for it. He can buy his drugs on his own money, do them on his own time, which are bought for B/C he worked and it wasn't financed by taxpayers money

C) People out there in the real world have to take drug tests to get decent jobs. You are telling me that we have to take drug tests to work to provide for ourselves, but welfare recipients should NOT have to take drug tests in order to recieve money from the government for doing nothing?

D) WHY SHOULD PEOPLE BE ALLOWED TO BUY DRUGS WITH TAXPAYER MONEY?!?!?!? CAN YOU ANSWER ME THAT?!?!?!

E) You people honestly care that welfare recipients are being lumped into a category by all taking drug tests? I equate you to the ACLU supporters who support protesting at military funerals (westboro baptists church, may they burn in hell), who support NAMBLA and other pedophiles, question the 'legality' of drone attacks in Pakistan, etc. I will never understand your rationale. But feel free to try to explain away...I'm all ears

If we are going to drug test people who take government money, we should test EVERYONE who takes government money. STARTING WITH POLITICIANS.

So, you just want to do drugs and pay no taxes?

I cerainly hope you don't drive on taxpayer funded roads while on those drugs, I certainly don't think it's fair for us to have topay our taxpayer dollars for the fire department to come with the jaws of life because you think that you should get to do drugs and not pay taxes.

Welfare is there to help you through the hard times.
If you want to spend some of it on weed to take the edge off, well, that's no one else's business.
As another poster said, big business takes far more than the poor do. How about making the super rich pay a decent amount of tax? Then perhaps that money could go to sorting out some of the biggest of societies problems and removing the sense of desperation that makes people turn to drugs in the first place...

When it comes to unemployment insurance, it's just that, an insurance.

Are you willing to submit to a drug test to collect your Aflac?

Where did I say that pedophiles were welfare recipients?

I said people who FEEL BAD that the welfare recipients are being lumped together as drug users. You misunderstood

I work for my insurance. 6 days a week. What I do with the money I earn is no ones business. What unemployed do with taxpayers money shouldn't be spent on drugs. That is just how I feel.
