I do not know. Some say higher ground but that I think regards a flood.
Here are a few interesting items suggesting pets, and especially frogs might be predicting quakes.

I didn't put 2+2 together until I read this post...

I have noticed BOTH my cell phone dropping a lot of calls lately, losing service and failing to find the towers. (AT&T) I've also noticed that with things I DVR with Directv, that there is a lot of missing audio, small skips, little blotches that show up when there is some interference, but it happens through the entire show. There are times that the AM radio station I listen to on the way home goes silent for 30-45 seconds at a time as well. All of these things have been happening in the last 2 weeks or so and I didn't think much of it until I read that.

I have a Husky (dog) and she NEVER tries to get out of the yard, but this past month has been digging holes through every weak spot in the fence and running out. She never seems to go anywhere far, just likes to know that she can get out if she wants.... I found that to be really strange too but just thought she had found a new "friend" dog somewhere in the area that she was getting out to play with.

These are just observations, I'm not saying that they have anything to do with anything specific, but they are things I've observed. Perhaps if something does end up happening, we can look back on threads like these and use these observations to draw ideas from.

Funny you mention cellphones... I live on the exact opposite side of japan, and looking in hindsight, I had lots of connection drops during the solar flare days up to the EQ in Japan. I would be in the middle of a conversation, then it just hung up. I tried redialing but no result. Then when I later finally got through I would ask why the person in question had just hung up... they hadn't, and had tried calling me as well.

Things are getting unstable.

Wow... I was just looking at another thread on here by someone in Christchurch, NZ (grantbeed) and came across this image:



And then was looking at this image on the USGS:

Now, if you look at the ring of fire, it looks as though there is a giant puzzle piece or plug that can be neatly removed from the middle of the Pacific in the center of the ring.

NOW... look at the two pictures and picture the ring of fire... it ALMOST appears as though the "plug" in the middle of the ring is TURNING counter-clockwise.

IF that were true, there is a strong possibility that by looking at the overall movement of these plates, the next big quake could either be in Alaska or California, and I'm becoming more confident by the day. You can clearly see the quakes starting in the north-east section of Japan and moving their way towards Tokyo, and you can also see the same thing with Christchurch, where the quakes started towards the west and started moving east.

This is all speculation on my part, but if you just look at the above pictures of the recent quakes over the past few weeks/months, it should jump out that the Pacific plate looks like it's turning, or maybe being "squished" much tighter.

Yes, I understand plate tectonics and what is at work here, but it looks like there is still more tension building up and being released as the days go on. Again, this is just an observation, not a claim to fact.

Eerie comment, Flice, considering where you are and when it occurred! Here in Northen Cali on T-Mobile we've had recent similar instances of cellphone disruption. Also, yesterday, I dialed into a conference call and all the other people complained of loud static, but I couldn't hear it. We all hung up and dialed back in, and the static was gone.

Update on the strange dog behavior: my 90-pound lap dog, who is typically somewhat aloof, has become very needy and wants to constantly cuddle either on my feet on in my lap. He's quite heavy so I hope this threat passes soon, and that it's not as major as it might appear.

Interesting....

My Siberian Husky is an outside dog... she only paws at the door when she is running low on food or water, which is rare if ever, but it happens when depending on your 12 year old son to do it.

Anyway, she has been pawing at the door yesterday and this morning and has a full bowl of food and water, in fact, she's hardly touched it in the last 2 days. When I open the door to check on her and ask her what's wrong (I know she won't answer, but I can "read" my dog pretty well), she tries to force her way in to the house, which she NEVER does. This really spooked me and the wife, even the kids were somewhat shocked to see her acting that way.

I'm glad people are "dialed in" to what is going on around them and sharing with the other people here on ATS.... it could truly be the difference between life and death for someone.

Wow, talk about scary.... I just found this map after seeing another poster talk about a map they had found from way back in the 1600s, so I looked around and found one from Mexico...

This map CLEARLY shows California as an ISLAND!!!! The entire valley was flooded out....

I had never seen this before. I have to wonder how deep the water was, how long it was there for, and what caused it to be there in the first place or caused it to recede and leave dry land behind???

Does anyone know the answers to these questions because it would appear that with a big enough quake in just the right place, that a tsunami could flood the entire valley. Where would it have to occur though and at what magnitude to cause that to happen? I wonder because I work in the valley but live in the mountains.... this is important to me to find out.

Any information anyone can dig up would be most appreciated.

EDIT: Some records show that this was a cartography error, but I'm not so convinced of this fact. I would imagine that there would be more direct geologic evidence of California being an island just a few hundred years ago, but I'm finding it hard to pin down the facts.

UPDATE: I just went outside during a break at work, and there is a tree out there that is always full of bees. I noticed several of them kept dropping to the ground, as if they had completely lost control of flight???

Also several of them dead around the tree... WTF?

This is exactly the kind of behavior my wife was talking about with bees just falling from the sky like rain, and what I've been seeing where they land on the ground like they can't fly anymore and just die.

NEW UPDATE: WOW FOLKS!!!!
I just read this thread HERE about a major C-class solar flare occurring within the same time frame as finding these bees dropping to the ground and dying.... what would need to be done to confirm a link between the two??? Could the X-ray emissions in the above post be killing the bees?

I don't know yet what the effect of the flare will be on Earth or it's magnetosphere, but having this happen at the same time as being in lunar perigee during a change in equinox (spring), this is a bad set of circumstances playing out....

Weren't we all told that all these "signs" were all due to the imminent March 15 pole shift.......and we know what happened on March 15.........NADA!

As I said before,living in Southern Calif almost 60 years,the poster is trying to substantiate his findings,sounds like someone is going out of his way to convince himself,seems there are reports around the world of animals suddenly dying,and other anomolist happenings,sounds like someone needs to read a book or watch TV,this is California yes we will have quakes ,seem,s there has been much more activity on the New Madrid quake has been 200 yrs since they had a big quake,so who is to say we are "overdue" for a big one,drop it a gear dude

Thanks for the advice. I'm plenty calm and relaxed, just puzzled and inquisitive.... I see things happening that aren't familiar to me or anyone I know that's still living and I want to know why it's happening. I live in a tectonically active area, so while I appreciate your candor, you obviously don't have reason to take things as seriously as I do.

Second, I know math well enough to say that statistically, what is happening is not just coincidence anymore.

Third, I never believed in 3/15 and thought it was a bunch of crap... but I do believe in facts, and the moon is in fact closer to the earth, and there was in fact a solar flare today, so will there in fact be an earthquake now as a result? It may not be California, which is fine, but I am looking for honest answers, not sarcasm or satire.

60 years huh?

Tell me good sir... do you recall events like these happening in your life time? When was the last time you've seen this many quakes in such a short period? What about dead bees all over your work or home? Please do share and explain to me how I'm trying to substantiate my own findings and not trying to correlate a possible link between what's happening and an upcoming quake?

I'm showing proof, with pictures, that some strange sh#t is happening... what proof are you providing here?

Just looked at the USGS website today and it looks to me like things are starting to wake up on the fault close to California. Sorry to say but i still maintain that it will be next. remember how quiet it was right after the big one in Japan.who knows for sure i guess it's just a feeling i have had for days now

Think what you want people because all i have to back up my statement is a gut feeling but i think the west coast is going to see something big today. like i say just a feeling but then again i had the same feeling before Japan went. I am sure many people wont agree with this statement, but lets face it a large earth quake has always just been a matter of time on the west coast, and with everything that has happened this year how could it not be our turn. i guess we will just have to wait and see........By the way i live on the west coast so really i hope i'm wrong.

To be fair, earthquakes do happen all the time.

What you have to remember is that how we now get information about these disasters has changed radically in the last 60 years.
If the Japan earthquake happened 60 years ago, It may have got a little mention in newspapers but it wouldn't have been anything near the coverage or interest that there is today.
Today we see the scale of the devastation......60 years ago we would only know that a big earthquake occurred....but we would have little concept of what a tsunami meant.
Now we also have the internet which means videos and news stories that may not have been reported are today flashed over the internet in an instance.

There was an earthquake in China a few days before the Japan earthquake but how many outside China even got to hear about it, I happen to see it on China's CCTV news.
The 6.3 Christchurch earthquake was not a particularly large earthquake nor particularly devastating in terms of loss of life in comparison to many quakes around the world.......but it got plenty of coverage......because the media choose to concentrate on it.

You also have to remember people from professional experts and amateurs alike have been trying to figure out a way to predict earthquakes for decades......but so far no has been able to do so accurately on a reliable basis to be any use as an early warning system.

But hey if you think you spotted something then document everything and if the quake comes to pass then share your findings with the earthquake professionals to save lives worldwide.

Im usually skeptical about this, but im willing to admit now that something very strange is happening to the earth, and it may be what so many are saying it is; the beginnings of a geological pole shift. Which means earthqaukes will become more common until the entire face of the planet is reconstructed.
