Maybe it was drill or test for all the rescue crews/reporters that are now on the ground to see what the reaction time is so that way that predicted 7.0 earthquake or aftershock that causes a new Tsunami, they will be prepared....

I think they may be a little busy for drills at the moment.

hang on - don't shoot the messengers... a japanese journalist, IN japan, was being interviewed on radio when the OP posted... the explosion & tsunami warning were both discussed...

Sirens around the town of Soma went off late Monday morning and public address systems ordered residents to higher ground. Kyodo News Agency said the tsunami could be 10 feet (3 meters) high, citing Fukushima prefectural officials.

just read someones comment on the 3rd explosion any details yet on the event? just walked back in the house and havent turned the news back on yet. glad it was a false alarm with the tsunami. i dont think japan could take anymore.

news just on my radio in the uk, said it was a "hydrogen explosion at #3 reactor, with low risk factor"
