BBC reporter in Japan just said that one news agency over there is reporting 8000 - 10,000 missing. I hope that's an exaggeration, I really do.

Honestly, I hope that's all. I fear it will turn out to be much more, but hope that I am wrong.

Judging by what we have seen on news channels of the tsunami in japan it would only be reasonable to assume that the death toll will be in the thousands. Sad but true. The speed size and power of that wave was incredible.
