8.9 Quake hits off coast of Japan! Live Updates.

Isn't the new 6.2 quake Southwest of Tokyo also near the infamous dolphin-slaughter cove in Taiji? Just curious if it's anywhere near there, it looks like it from the maps I'm seeing. If anything "good" can be said to come out of this horrific situation, maybe these current events will put a stop to the monstrous activities going on on that cove. One can only hope.

Yellowstone..Norris gone potty!

OK...didn't know about 7.9 that just hit Japan. Was checking University Utah seismic servers. Norris has been off since 27th Feb....checked it anyhow....and this is what I found......sorry but it looks HUMONGOUS to me.

You might have to use drop down menue for Norris. All that keeps going through my mind is the BBC Horizon drama/documentary which made a big play of Norris....please somebody look and give feedback!

I also need to say that myself and another friend here in the UK smelt something very weird in our air this pm....we live 112 miles apart!

Perhaps this should belong to a whole other thread in the Gray area or something, but...

Ok, so anyways, I just went to watch the movie Battle of Los Angeles (2011) last night.

Now, before I start telling this, you have to make sure you watch the film. I could care less if you saw it in the theaters or pirated it, the point I'm making is irrelevant to this.

Anyway, ok so if anyone has seen the film, did anyone notice that at the beginning of the movie? I'm not talking about the film start, but right at the beginning where the Columbia Pictures logo is displayed.

I'm not sure if anyone was keen enough to pick it up, but during the Columbia Pictures logo coming up, in the background, you can hear radio/tv broadcast of news reporters reporting various situations happening across the globe. Guess what the female reporter was saying, she was saying something akin to Japan was in trouble, Tokyo sank or something of that sort.

If you don't believe me, or haven't seen the film yet, wait until you see it and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Some funny coincidences:

1. The movie poster and the official release date for Battle: Los Anges 2011 was March 11, 2011.

2. The day Japan got hit by the 8.9 earthquake was 3/11/11.

3. The movie was completed way before the 3/11/11 release date, actually should have been months before. You need to localize it, reviewing it, editing and cutting out the final version to be released on 3/11/11 etc.

4. At the beginning of the movie, during the Columbia Pictures trade mark image showing up, you can hear in the background of a female news reporter or radio broadcaster speaking of Japan in catastrophe and Tokyo sunk to the bottom of the ocean or something akin to that.

5. So, does Hollywood know about something we don't? Is there a hidden message? Lol, I could be just thinking out of my ass here... but how could the movie that was completed months ago know something that would happen catastrophically in Japan months later???

Hi, Given the fact it's been offline for such a long time I'd have to speculate that the anomalous readings are due to it been physically reinstated and/or recalibrated. I will keep my eye on it though and let you know if I get concerned, as for strange smells I live in S#horpe and am quite used to them

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, has said he wants more timely and detailed information about developments at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant from the Japanese authorities. "The problem is very complicated, we do not have all the details of the information so what we can do is limited," he told a news conference in Vienna, according to Reuters. This situation is horrible for the people of Japan, and my heart goes out to them (except those who were participating in the dolphin slaughter, they deserved the ocean's wrath, just my opinion). But what's with the media witch hunt calling for the jobs of anybody making jokes about this event? So far we have Gilbert Gottfried, 50 Cent, Glenn Beck, some staffer on an upcoming campaign, etc. Since when has sympathy been mandated? Do we not have freedom of speech, even if what we say makes us a-holes but doesn't directly harm anybody?

I was just thinking the same , it stinks outside! It's like a stink bomb , like sulphur. We had a meal in Leeds then drove 20 mile home but the smell was still in the air.

Our news CNN BBC ect all said there was no threat, so why cant they go in and sort it out?? It does make me cross when they dont tell us whats going on !

There are no so called HERO'S because they took all the workers out ages ago..... (although all the helpers are heros, i just mean the ones that are MEANT to be at the plants)

Workers are currently unable to approach the storage pool due to the high radiation levels. Tokyo Electric Company is studying the possibility of using fire engines and other options to inject water into the reactor.
