Viruses on linux?
how much of a problem are viruses on ubuntu?
how rare are they I mean?
Re: Viruses on linux?
Lets just say Ive been using nothing but Ubuntu for a bit over a full year..
with no "virus protection" whatsoever..
and have not had a single issue yet. lol
Most windows users i know..
Can have a brand new, fresh windows install..(with virus protection)
and be compromised (have viruses) within a week, if not a couple days. lol
Be smart.

Not accusing ATS directly but it came from someone who has the ability to ebed this crap and it was one of there keys which trigger the breach yes breach.

Or... no comment because I've been busy and this is the first I've seen this thread?
Sorry i'm sure your busy no doubt this is a very busy site
There's no such thing as an "ATS Virus."
Well I guess that that statement is true.
Are you tring to tell me this site has never had a virus lurking in the source code. Sorry to inform you that the us gov has this site pegged as one of there targets.
We do more to protect our users, as much as possible, than websites much larger than us. A third party scanning service tests all ads from all ad networks appearing on ATS for malicious activity, including full-page redirects. There are currently no alerts in their system for the past 72 hours.
I beleive that to be a true statement.
Are you telling me that you could not embed a virus and sent it to me U2U as an admin. I beg to differ...
This activity most likely came from a source other than our ad networks, and most certainly was not the result of any action of ours.
There are several ways that and similar browser takeovers can occur:
- virus/malware received via email Didn't get it here
- dormant virus/malware waiting for specific action Didn't get it here either
- background process via another window/tab in your browser Nope not here either
- background process from undetected malware Just and intrusion detected and breached. This was an attacking system launching an attack to try to search/run encryption
Unfounded speculation about our ethics, No not unfounded. speculation. I just had an attack from a U2U message not trying to spin any thing here mate. Benn on theis site lurking since 9-11 member for a while now. Never had an attack like that happen to that extent anyway.
and whether or not we (ATS) would purposefully do this to our users is off-base and insulting.
