Actually, as I said to aoa up there, if a person is a "true muslim", then they wouldn't be picking and choosing verses and ignoring the rest (like how you picked a part of 2:191, but ignored 2:190 and 2:193, or how you picked one part of 8:39, but didn't quote the complete verse).

As I keep repeating, and as I'm sure Nephi wished to relay in his OP, being a good muslim (following completely the Quran and the Sahih Hadith), DOESN'T make a person a terrorist.

Like every innocent child, you don’t know evil unless you figure it out how to be evil.

Those who point at you as terrorist, themselves are terrorists both in heart and mind eventually manners as well, since there is no way to recognize a terrorist unless the accuser have done the same before.

peace

I am always willing to have an honest discussion, especially if I'm learning something. You willing to have an honest discussion?

Although I'm not sure exactly what about? My point about the intrinsic nature of Christianity leading a person towards terrorism was mostly just a counterpoint to your own such allegations about Islam.

Of course I understand that generally Christianity (especially those denominations that don't emphasise the OT overly) has a preparatory defensive at most, and pacifist acceptance of violence (which unfortunately I've not seen many christians be able to apply effectively) at the least. That doesn't change the fact that the scriptures COULD be twisted to fit any agenda (including a violent one, as shown by history and by these groups).

The same goes for Islam. Of course it COULD be used to fit a violent terrorist agenda, but my understanding (and I assume that of Nephi) is that intrinsically it does not advocate an aggressor or terrorist agenda.

Instead of me typing out this already well covered topic, I would like for you to take just a view minutes and view this slide show. It should open your eyes to the issue of Christians are not Catholics.

Anti-christ slide show

Afterward you can read more Bible text and written work on this subject here. Catholic teachings verse the Holy Bible.

Let me know what you think.

i wont claim to know a great deal about your religion or anything and if u feel its right for you then good for you but you have to understand why people say bad things about muslims and this is that as far as i can see muslims are the only people that commit terrorist acts in the name of their religion, a religion that tells them to kill non-believers,“Slay the idolators [non-Muslims] wherever ye find them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the last Day…. Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! (Sura 9:5,29,41).
maybe its just me but that doesnt sound like a particularly peaceful religion.

The point of the thread, at least what I gathered, was to question the view some Americans have towards Muslims and terrorism. The underlying tones of the post basically stated that it is not correct for someone to view all Muslims as terrorists. The only thing that I question is the use of the word barbaric, but I don't think that is what you meant, as barbaric implies "barbarian." There are radical Muslims just like there are radical Christians. Look at the Crusades.

Anyone who would make comments about all Muslims being terrorists, and there are some in this thread, are absolutely, 100% completely ignorant, and they are the real people who cause problems in this world. And that is NOT an opinion, but complete fact. So much killing and violence is perpetrated by people like this, because they are intolerant of others. They are no different from Hitler, who couldn't tolerate Jews. It's the same vicious cycle of thinking. When someone starts to classify and stereotype people, they aren't the ones who will just throw out the bad apples...They will cut down the entire apple tree. TM, lol.

Another thing, is people that claim to be Christians, yet are the biggest hypocrites of them all, when they go around judging and preaching violence and/or hate. Like the Westboro Baptist Church. The point is that it doesn't matter what religion you are, (no religion, in modern terms, advocates violence anyway), there will always be people who don't get it, and the majority of the members should not be criticized because of these few.

I personally do believe in God, and I suppose would have to consider my self a type of Christian, but I personally do not really "believe" that the Bible is the word of God like most Christians. I do not know too much about Islam, but I think I know enough to say that anyone performing or advocating violence in the name of that religion, or any religion really, just don't "get it," and aren't true members of their faith. If you want to say that the Muslim's Quran, or however you spell it, does advocate hate and violence, then you definitely should take another look at the bible, and start thinking of Christians as terrorists as well, because there has been much blood spilled by both religions.

So if you are judging people based on their religion, stop being ignorant and focus on healing yourself from the inside, because believe it or not, you are "Sick Emotionally." It's just like a physical disease or ailment, and it takes therapy to get over it...When you do, I assure you that you will be much, much happier.

Written into the Koran is concepts of Matyrdom and Jihad; militant ideology.

Muslims take this book very seriouosly, more seriously than your average Christian takes the bible. They truly believe in the Koran's accuracy, and as the Koran outright condemns non-believers, that allows for a large scope for Muslims to brew their hatred and prejudice.

A moderate Muslim is someone who will ignore the hateful verses of the Koran, who would sooner hide his contempt or judgement to a non-believer. This shows that they are scared to show what they really believe. A coward.

If Muslims can't deal with that, why not leave Islam.

I was born and Raised in the USA ., i am a Convert to Islam , i want to live a peaceful life and i want to live a life that is centered around my religion , if this means praying 5 times a day , or not eating pork , or living by strict rules ,then i would happily do it , because it brings peace to my heart , no more do i have to live a life where i look back the next day and feel guilty of things that i did , no more do i have to worrie about weather their is or is not a god , i do not have thees battles within my self anymore ,my soul is free , i love this new found life i have in Islam , and what many people do not understand is that Most Muslim people feel they will find peace by living in this so called out dated barbaric way of life .

But let me ask you , If the US was invaded and , we had to defend it , and i used my religion for streanth and courage would i still be a terrorist ?

i ask you this because that is exactly what is going on over seas , but yet they are terrorist, according to people in the video ,

i really dont have a point to this thread , i guess i am just venting , it would not bother me if some mod decided to trash it ,

never have i ever had any problems Living in my own country , but when i found god , i found out how much evil really surrounds me , an evil i used to be part of .

some thoughts on the videos would be nice , thanks all

You know what man(woman), I'm happy for you. But face it, your a minority, and its quite sad. You chose your religion, it makes you happy, and you have the right to it, and I'd fight for you to keep said right. So screw what other people think by saying your a terrorist or whatever incivility they may show towards you.

As far as the people in the ME...I cannot say, I don't know anything about them, nor their religion so I cannot safely say yes or no, as I suppose it would depend on how strict their religion may be for them if they're "pure" (I don't know the correct word for this...non-converted).

A rule of thumb I go by is worry about myself instead of others.

I got to 4:00 minutes in the video then I had to stop, it was that ridiculous.
im tired of seeing this kind of "American" No not the supposedly patriotic kind, the stupid , ignorant kind that likes to stand infront of their flag and talk about important issues they are unaware of, and when they need to raise the crowd they mention "Marines" or "911" or some other catch phrase that works. I love the part where she says
"I don't care if you think I'm crazy because I have a daughter and a marine son"

HUH??? okay, so your a crazy mother now, nothing has changed.

Misconception: Jihad means to fight for the sake of god

The true Arabic meaning of the word jihad is struggle. However in Islam it is often used to describe the striving in the way of god. There are many forms of jihad but the most important ones are Jihad al-nafs (jihad against ones self), jihad bil-lisan (jihad by being vocal), jihad bil yad (jihad by using action), and Jihad bis saif (jihad by using the sword). Each jihad is ranked differently and it was reported that Muhammad returned from a battle and said “We have returned from the lesser jihad (going into battle) to the greater jihad (the struggle of the soul).” This means that a Muslim struggling against himself and his soul is more important than the jihad of going into war. Another misconception is that only when a person dies in war does that person becomes a martyr. This is, however, false and it is believed that anyone doing anything for the sake of god and is killed becomes a martyr. A person who dies while performing pilgrimage in Mecca, a woman who dies while giving birth, or even someone who dies in a car crash while he was on his way to the mosque are all considered martyrs.

What about the Lord's Resistance Army, then? Or The Orange Volunteers? Or the Army of God? Violence certainly hasn't been exclusive to the Roman Catholic brand of Christianity.

I find it interesting how christians attempt to separate Catholicism from "their" version of Christianity, but then embrace almost their entire tradition, and learning up to the point of the split. Sorry to say, but Catholicism is Christianity.

First off I am not affiliated to any man made religion.
You say that Catholicism is Christianity, and while there are similarities they are certainly not one and the same. Catholicism is just modern Paganism dressed up to look like something else. Instead of the old pantheon of gods that the old Roman empire had, today you have saints to pray to/ worship instead.Today like in Jesus time each Catholic saint has a 'special task/gift' you know - patron saint of helping old ladies across the road etc just like each god in times past had a certain job and somehow nearly 1 billion people can't see the wood for the trees!
Protestant Christianity does'nt worship saints/idols in the same way, at least not in the church I attended for 16 years, but they still use alot of the other tools learned from the Catholic church like guilt and fear to control and exploit good, usually poor people.
I think Ghandi said it best ''I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians, they are not like your Christ''

While they're not one in the same, they do hold (mostly) the same canon as well as the same general interpretation of the bible. By that I mean that Catholicism and Protestant Christianity hold more in common than most early variations of Christianity.
