well according to National Geographic it could be possible if a strain of rabies went airborne maybe crossed with a flu virus, it could totally be possible. and yes i do have a source. check it out here

The real problem is that prions are airborne, AND they hitchhike on viruses. Plus:

* Not only can viruses take up genetic material from their hosts and other organisms, but they can donate genes, as well;

* …prions (infectious misfolded proteins) are now acknowledged to evolve and adapt;

and don't forget,

* Viruses Can Change Human Genetic Code.

Put that together with a flu - with or without rabies - and oh my.


I don't worry though - methinks we're just uncovering the mechanics of the evolutionary process, which has been proven absolutely to work.
