These people appear to be total DOOMers, which I can understand and support!

BRING THE DOOM BRING IT

I can appreciate sticking by a certain date too, proves you're going all the way. If TSHTF they'll be ready

Yeah. It makes me wonder too...

...makes me wonder how much crack they've been smoking?

must be hard keeping up with a crack addiction and paying for and having signs put up everywhere
just look at the world at the moment and try to fit the rapture prediction into the current timeline it doesn't
at all strike you as a slight possibility ?

Sorry if I skipped a few pages but I saw this and figured why not.

The Rapture has been predicted by religious groups for centuries which is why as much as I like to concentrate on dates (such as October 28th this year etc) as points of interest, Rapture dates.....in fact any dates at all that predict specific things are usually looked at with a hint of cynicism.

Could something happen? Is it "just another day"? 50/50 on that one. I'm sure people back in the day in 2001 were saying "September 11th is gonna be just another day, stop worrying, nothing will happen" but does it mean a Rapture or anything else will take place on this specific date?

Wait and see, no harm in being patient. If it happens it happens, if not, that's ok, carry on with life.

Anybody know any cheap, yet knowledgeable lawyers, eager to take on an easy case? Just in case, I want to get my paperwork in order... because if I wake up on May 22, and nothing happened, I am TOTALLY filing false advertisement charges, requesting compensation for emotional damage caused by that church.

I see it as bad advertising for most likely a revival sermon on May 21. There is no false adv., Bible says there will be a judgment day, Ezekiel states to blow the trumpet and warn the people, and they did not confirm May 21 as the judgment date. Could be wrong but I think it is for a revival sermon.

Why is this so hard to grasp? Religion plays a big role in the whole 2012 / enlightenment / awakening "time to come". Many are welcoming the "end of the world" since they believe this means

1. Jesus will return to Earth
2. Ascension will begin
3. Eternal life with God will begin

The above are not scary, and are something to look forward to, if you believe in this aspect of Christianity. Here is the quote:

And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. Revelation 9:5

This sect believes, and I now refer you to ET_MAN's thread, that the actual end date is October 21, 2011 -- the same as ET_MAN's entire premise.

May 21 refers to the five month period prior to the start of the end, referenced in the quote above from Revelations.

Frankly, we should give this group credit. At least they believe in what they say enough to put their money where their mouths are. Unlike some others that do not practice what they preach.

Whether or not Oct 21 is the end date....and whether or not ascension will begin in May...is frankly anybody's guess.

I have a feeling though if a nuclear bomb went off, and people "vaporized" from the radiation, this would be construed as ascension to some. That's why I always pay attention to the message, and not the reason. Perhaps the Bible does foretell the sudden disappearance of many, many people....perhaps though it is not because God has saved them but rather because a nuke went off. Similar to the past catastrophes that have hit Earth that have been accredited to the Gods being angry, etc., .... the events happen but it's the "why" that people (rightfully) question.

People have been claiming "the end is near" for as long as there's been anyone to listen to them.
As of yet, they've all been wrong. I see no reason for this to be any different.

I'm not at all religious, but I do know it says that no one but God knows the day of the return. So, how do these guys know? It's all marketing to get recruits and money.

I'm in California right now, and I saw that exact same advertisement on a billboard somewhere by the LAX airport.

Seeing as it was within half an hour of landing in the US, my classical stereotypical programming just gave a few chuckles and thought "typical southern-american bible-thumping doomsday screamers"

It is kind of ironic however that the advertisement comes from "family" radio.
Real "family" type of topic-
"Hey kids, the world's going to end in a couple of months, better stop fighting or Jesus might send you to hell!"

Exactly lol

The Jesus people are wrong, even their own bible says they're wrong. And it is from those people that the western world gets most of its obsession with eschatology. So I'm pretty sure they're still wrong.

I'd be more worried about World War III than wanky prophecies. And with the current state of events in the mideast, that's not an unreasonable attitude.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if all this recent 2012 business hasn't been a corporate sponsored disinfo campaign to keep us distracted while the pieces fall into place. There are any number of scenarios the people in control of this world could orchestrate to bring about WWIII or some other nightmare to cull and enslave the peasant class they've created.

Now I wish I could remember the rapture websites I found long ago. One was a website where you could list your friends and relatives email addresses and after the rapture it would send them an email explaining what had happened.

The other was a pet service that was run by athiests who would not be raptured, but would look after your pets once you were gone.

I better do a search quick; time is running out!

May 21, 2011.......

This date has been beat to death here on ATS for a few months now.

Two words, Harold Camping. He already got one date wrong back in 1994, and now I guess he decided to try it again.

Some of the ATS threads for reference...
May 21/2011 Marks Judgement Day. Why?
May 21, 2011 and October 21, 2011 billboards...
Biblical scholar's date for rapture: May 21, 2011
May 21, 2011 - another Judgement/Rapture Date

Basically it starts on May 21 and ends on Oct 21.

Harold Camping proclaims the rapture will happen on May 21, 2011. He say's if you don't believe "his" prediction with all your heart, then you will be left behind to face the wrath of God.

If you win? Can I have a tiny cut of your settlement? I need it to pay off my car and also give it a new paint job.

ROFLMAO!!!

You can say that again. That reminds me. I went to a catholic school. And a teacher (theology-class teacher) told me I was going to hell for talking out of turn in his class. Can you believe that?

Hey don't worry about it, I was told by a crazy member of this very forum a few days back that I'm in league with Satan for listening to heavy metal and not believing in Jesus even though a close friend of mine is Christian and she listens to metal too.
