demonhunter - i said i know that harry potter is fake...but in the future would you be able to do magic like that (levitation, fire spitting, turning objects into other objects)...i'm familiar with magick but its just potions and other things that dont work immediately.

BTW,
A male witch is called a warlock.
This brings up an interesting theory I have had for some time now. Magic isn't "magic" as such, it is simply the use of paranormal "gifts" that the user(s) have, even if they don't realize it
For a long time I have felt that magic-especially in olden times, was a mixture of science and paranormal abilities.

BTW
A male witch is called whatever that particular person wants to be called

Warlock means "oath breaker" or "traitor" in scottish.. Not the exact connotation witches want, eh?

Main subject of the thread (since I havent replied to that yet lol)
I think one day, unless the world ends, almost all things will be possible.
Flight by mind, teleportation by mind, even "CRAZY LIGHTS COMING OUT OF A WAND" by mind.
But I think that day is pretty far in the future.

NOW: The tangent replies.
I agree that everyone should be careful how they direct their emotions/magic/energy/etc.
Magic can have more power than people realize/want.
Ive personally seen some very great (and very bad) effects from spells that I thought were just lil things.
And after you send something out, it is hard, if not impossible, to take it back.

And on another tangent:
Any of yall have any stories about spells working really well or going wrong? Im always interested in hearing them

that translation is also correct. but that story derived from one male witch that broke the oath. so all male witces shouldn't be brushed under one comb.

LadyV, you sound like you know a lot about this subject. Would you be willing to teach me how to use the energy around me and other such stuff like that?

Magic is just the explanation of the unknown, but spectecular things. In the past a working laser pointer would be called a magic stick, and everyone would be frightened of it. Now it is a good toy making cats, dogs and even birds and fish make damn crazy.

I totally agree....

Magic is to me is a very broad paintbrush that we use to explain things that we don't quite understand. We see some kind of phenomenon going on that at times we may be able to manipulate...but usually not consistantly.

Science takes these magical phenomenons and narrows them down through testing and better explains them and better manipulates them.

People who think magic is "bs" are not really understanding how it fuels science to better answer how the universe works: Garlic may keep away werewolves in the magical world, yet science may narrow that down by saying "a molecule in garlic seems to adversly cause an allergic reaction in people with the disease (I forget the name) that causes them to grow excessive amounts of hair on their body (like those Mexican kids)". Magic wasn't really wrong or totally right but it seems to paint a broad stroke of something that is going on.

Ok. First off, Science is Quite different from magick, don't ask how i know, because science does not deal with the energy of living things. That brings me to my next point...Magick does use energy, tiny pockets of energy, called "Ki" by many people.(pronounced "chee") Everyone and everything on Earth has Ki. Everyone and everything is capable of magick, all you have to do is learn to direct that ki to the target, which is harder than it sounds. As for the whole wand thing, the wand can be anything from a wooden stick to a 36" Steel Katana, it is just there to help channel energy, and direct it. Questions? E-mail me at [email protected]

I think that's pretty much was I stated above, in different words of course. Yes, science is now dealing with much of what was thought to be only "magickal".....the direction of energy and mind power is, and has been, looked into by our scientific community for awhile now, and I suspect it will someday be as accepted as hypnotherapy is now...it too was once thought of as "occult" (hidden). and of course every thing is made of energy...trees, rocks, people, brick, plastic...all things are made partly of atoms which has a constant flow of energy...

Yes, it was, I just saw the post that science is Magick, and i would like to point out that, no offense to whoever wrote that post, but i have found that only Skeptics say that. That is why they can't do it, because to do it, you have to believe 150% that you can, and will, and that it exists purely as magick, not technology, but i see their point, also. Technology is a different kind of magick.

I assume this is me you're talking about. My statement isn't a skeptic's opinion. Lady V's comment is closer to what I mean. I do try to look at things that people claim magic(k) can do, and see possibly how science would explain it. Just because science studies it doesn't mean I think it turns into a "technology"...I truly think that the power of the mind is magic and not something science will peg down to a bunch of ones and zeroes. And I think that magic may really be the driving force behind reality.

I hope you get my point...my first statement is dealing primarily with people's first reaction to a new phenomenon and how "magic" is used for a quick answer, and how science may better explain that phenomenon over time. What I DONT mean is that everything is scientific and that there is no magic. I think magic and the mind may very well be the answer to reality...plus magic is just plain way more fun than science!

The only problem I have with magic is that I think the creator(s) has limited it's power because having a bunch of "real" Harry Potter's and Gandalf's running around in the universe would quickly disrupt the balance of nature and cause chaos. Nature would end up being subserviant to trillions of minds and their whim and I think it would quickly end life as we know it. Anyway this is all probably better left for another topic.

sheisadumb well yea but it would take a powerful ritual and lots of spiritual training, its not something that someone could do right off the bat.

like ghost b gone said a wand can be anything from a stick to a 36" steel sword(i like) only beginners most use wands because they dont know how to channel ki so they put themselves at risk more than they do other people, this is because ki in any form can be dangerous they may try a spell without a wand and end up burning there arm clean off there body

if u want to learn magick become a student.i am willing to teach and ghost b gone is willing to teach

Thank you all for putting your input on this subject
I knew most of you would play the old "if you put your energy to it, anything can happen" card, but i was more interested in the future, and things that have not been PROVEN yet (many of you claim you've levitated , blah blah, but i mean really proven). I guess i should of put this in science and technology? i didnt think it was appropriate cuz they're more into factual information... Idk...

P.S. i thought it was chi , not ki...
