These look like solar panels. It's said onboard the ISS. Does that mean inside or outside? Why would solar panels be inside?

You're kidding right?
Onboard doesnt just mean inside the ISS it means traveling on the station.

Sorry. Thank you for correcting the misconception. I still can't seem to invert the movement we see from around 28 to 60seconds into the video and still can't find the source of the smoke ring either.

i dont understand why everyone is focuxing on the ring...what about the moving thing? or whatever behind the solar panels?

Looks like something being cloaked to me.... what I cannot say. The video is not what I would expect from nasa.

I never do this but this is my second line.

I have a idea of what this may actually be. I couldn't see this while watching the video on my phone from work but now that i've watched it a home on a descent monitor I have a much better view.

Ok, so looking at it I think we may be seeing what is known as camera "moiré." If a surface has a deep texture it can give off the illusion of motion when filmed or videoed (because of the camera shutter).

Here is an example of the effect.

vimeo.com...

Imagine the effect in the dramatic lowlight conditions of the OPs video. Also notice that there is "movement" all over the area of the craft except the "solar panel." The area we are focusing on may have a more dramatic feel due to shadow, angle to the sun, angle to the camera, distance from the camera. I don't know what the ISS is skinned with but I believe this is a rational explanation. The object floating off in the distance looks like a washer to me. The smoke ring, I don't know possibly some type of pressure release valve. The silver highlight with movement that appears to move may be a reflection of some type. Just throwing some rational ideas out there.

Although the mutant cloaked alien is not off the table.

I'm not sure what that is? Kind of looks like a floating washer to me. These guy's seem to be losing a whole lot parts and tools lately. I think they lost an 11 mile tether not to long ago, and a tool bag.

I think they need to start inscribing there tools with something like "ISS- Earth- with name initials." The tools and parts can be later returned by an alien race. thus we have made contact ! Then again then again the tools and parts might end up in Pawn Shop on the outer edges of the galaxy.

Just another part floating though space hoping to be returned to the tax payers someday.

That is what im saying. They keep calling it a washer lol, it's practically transparent. It's not even a perfect circle. I could buy smoke ring though if there was oxygen in space. There can only be fire and smoke where there is oxygen. I would suspect a liquid vapor ring be more likely. Possibly a leak? In that case there should be some state of emergency But it does not dissipate? It remains constant and pulsing. I mean if washers "with nuts & bolts" on the space station coming apart at the seems would be a big deal. But there is no sense of urgency in the video.

So to me that speaks for itself. And i welcome any video expert to explain what the HELL IS IS OUTSIDE THE STATION? Someone said it could be a underwater exercise, good idea. That mass does resemble and move like an octopus. Problem is where is the rest of the pool or tank? I have seen those and they look much different then this. Much clearer and well lit as you can see the surrounding pool.

This video has yet to be explained in a logical manner. Still unknown imho.

I would buy "Ghost of Onion ring" before washer

Could very well be something of that nature as well as being reflection of astronaut who is underneath the structure.
I would imagine that the ISS has many areas that reflect due to material used. What we could be seeing is a mirror image of sorts along with video moiré

Just like Earth, Mano o Mano is existent in the entire Universe.

Yes, his reflection layered on top of that effect could be what we are looking at. The highlight that looks like a alien head popping out could be the kick off the lens of his helmet from the sun.

To the notion of a "washer," if a washer is off and floating, doesn't that mean a bolt has come out, and wouldn't that be very seldom because, well they design these stations to not do that. Or are these things always losing bolts and washers, no big deal, just hop on out and replace it?
I was just thinking here....

As cool as the video is, I just don't think there's anything too crazy going on here. You have to remember if there is anything "E.T" on this footage, NASA would have never allowed it to leak into the public domain. It would've been at the tippity top of top secret.

Nuts, Bolts, Washers coming loose under stress and structural integrity perhaps, not so easily in zero gravity. Like i said before it's not a washer at least any washer i have seen on earth and worked with in my trade. The washer excuse is utter poppycock and frankly insulting to ones intelligence. Debunkers you are better then this. As far as reflection goes that might work if the "cloverfield monster" was not moving in and out from behind the solar panels. A reflection would not cast itself in such a way and cut off at the edge of solar panel. That tells me there is something there or the footage is manipulated.

If the person is on the underside of the panels then so long as the part of the ISS is reflective, you can see this mirroring and with the quality of the video, make it look strange. Looking at it again, I turned my head upside down and it almost looks like someones legs moving around.
It may look like this 'stuff' is overlapping on top of the panels, but I think that is due to video quality. I think they were (trying) capturing an astronaut fixing something on the underside. While they cant see him directly, we can see his reflective mirror image against the reflective part of the ISS.

This is my conclusion anyway ...

Looks like a fella with a flash light but low res. The smoke ring looks like a c.d to me. At one point in the footage during the slow mo you can see 2 legs and a backpack shape.
Looks quite dark so would they use flash lights?

Sorry, I'm not buying the moire explanation. Good suggestion, but it just doesn't look like any kind of moire I've ever seen, and I've been working in video post-production for 10+ years.

It's Friday evening here, but on Monday I'll show the video to some of our QC operators at work, whose very job it is to identify moire (as well as other technical faults in video) That should give us a pretty definitive answer on whether this is likely to be moire or not.

A few vacuum based life forms. Not a biggie - a humanoid snake and a space jellyfish.
A picture from around 07:30 of a moving Darth Vader

He's clearly an idiot or a hoaxer, most probably both.

That thing on the ISS that looks like a transparent sci-fi monster... maybe there's a normal explanation to it.

To be honest I kinda doubt it is a shadow or some type of video artifact, simply because they are filming it. Why would you want to film a shadow? To me the Russians that filmed this were curious enough to want to film for archiving/review.

But after viewing the video several time I still cannot make out what it really is. Even the "washer" doesn't look like a washer because it appears to be shifting in and out of phase.
