The High Court yesterday ordered district officials in Shariatpur to explain why they failed to protect 14-year-old rape victim Hena from being whipped to death as per a fatwa on Monday.
The deputy commissioner, the superintendent of police of Shariatpur and the thana nirbahi officer of Naria upazila -- where the incident took place--will have to report to the HC in 15 days how it happened although the court (HC) had eight months ago declared fatwa illegal and a punishable offence. In a suo moto rule, the HC directed them also to report what steps they have taken in this regard. An HC bench comprised of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain issued the rule following press reports on the killing of Hena.
The reports said Hena was raped by her 40-year-old relative Mahbub on Sunday. Next day, a fatwa was announced at a village arbitration that she must be given 100 lashes. She fell unconscious after nearly 80 lashes. Fatally injured Hena was rushed to Naria health complex where she succumbed to her injuries. Supreme Court lawyer Seema Zahur yesterday placed before the HC bench a press report on the incident on behalf of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association.

Here is why muslims don't deserve - or rather are incapable of democracy! - Islam is a savage, brutal, backward, inhuman and thoroughly evil ideology worse by far than nazism, or communism -that is why brutal corrupt dictators are needed to keep them in line.
Case in point: Yesterday on Fox News, Zuhdi Jasser claimed that "The Egyptian people are no different from us as Americans." One could go on all day about that, citing the prevalence of female genital mutilation in Egypt among other things, but this poll amply proves that a desire for democracy does not guarantee a desire for human rights by standards Westerners would even recognize. Projecting a Western understanding of concepts like liberty, justice, and good government onto such terms as they are employed by those in favor of Sharia law (not to mention the Muslim Brotherhood) only sets up the naïve for profound disappointments and awful surprises.
82%: Believe adulterers should be stoned . 84%: Believe apostates from Islam should face the death penalty

Actually, 820 Egyptians favored stoning.
Out of a population of over eighty million.
With no detail on the methodology of the sample.
I love statistics. They're so... bendy!
The sample group of 1,000 was surveyed in face-to-face interviews in April and May of last year for the U.S.-based Pew Research Center. These results give an idea of Egyptian public opinion before the current protests there broke out.

Not at all.
Simply stating that the statistics are a year old, have no methodology outlined (ie, how were the 1,000 selected?) and that a thousand people can't realistically represent the interests of eighty million accurately.
You're desperate to show that Muslims are inherently evil and need to be beaten and murdered frequently to keep them under control. I'm truthfully not seeing how you're any better than the 820 Egyptians who think adulterers need to be beaten to death with rocks.

You keep saying democracy is incompatable with Islam, but then you keep saying that we need to actively DENY them democracy. You failed to explain how indonesia or turkey works, or why exactly our country is in 2 wars right now to install democracy in Muslim countries..
But keep it up with your ignorance, that's cool too...

The muslim extremist rule you see now are not representative of true islamic ideals. The Bangladesh example you mentioned as well as other like it in saudi arabia and pakistan are in fact against islam, its been said many times before, they extremists have built a brutal inhuman culture that has no basis in Islam but uses it nonetheless to justify their brutality.

Your namesake is a song by a criminal (Chuck Berry) that the western world idolizes. Why are his crimes dismissed for his entertainment value?
Let me make sure I understand your logic here. Islam is bad because they punish criminals. Christianity is ok because we let the entertainers go without punishment?
Weird.
