I'd be interested in hearing more about your husband's religious experience (I haven't finished reading all the posts on this thread so maybe you've talked about it.) Exactly what did he say happened to him?

I think there's lots of people that have seen visions and had prophetic dreams that get diagnosed as delusional though they are having real experiences. Your husband sounds to me as though he could be one of those people.

This is from a Christian board I read where someone is describing a dream they had a while ago that they think may have been from the Lord about the Super Bowl. MANY people think something horrendous is coming. I have had very vivid dreams that are similar to what others are dreaming about things to come.

Just recently while taking a morning walk listening to Christian music and praying this number 45 popped in my though. Like I said I have been praying for a long time about this number and what it could mean.
Immediately came an answer. Was it me or the Lord saying "Super Bowl 45?" I can not decide. I can tell you this I'm not interested in the Super Bowl at all not the teams I would choose. Ha Ha.

Any way Dear Saints while the world watches the Super Bowl don't forget Jesus. This could very well be a day to watch and be ready for what ever happens we are living in the Last Days so be prepared. Amen

I have posted articles here concerning this number. I do believe that was the beginning of the last 7 years before the Lords Day. We are getting close to the start of the Great Tribulation the last 3 1/2 years.
I also believe that a GREAT Earthquake will usher in the beginning of that time period.

We all should know what the numbers 777 mean.
But what could the .68 mean? Well just found out the Jewish year of 57.68 or 5768 is the year of 2008 the very year of the 777.68 coincidence I don't think so. You decide God Bless His Saints Amen.

The REAL question is if nothing happens during the Superbowl will you people still think he's having a 'spiritual experience' ? And will this woman finally realise that he needs proper medical care?

Look, this is what everything sounds like to me:

1) Your husband has had chronic headaches for years.
2) One day the headaches stop
3) At the same time they stop, your husband experiences a complete 180 in his personality.
4) This 180 causes him to become violent towards police officers, even though they stepped in when he was pointing his finger at you (which is rational as you told them you thought he was going to KILL YOU!!!!)
5) He then refuses to leave Jail.
6) When he finally does he begins to go on weird rants, telling his sister to kill herself, and figuring out his thoughts.
7) Meanwhile, you have two children with this man that you still love.
8) You are seeing this weird change in personality, and experiencing this traumatic thing when he is arrested and committed.
9) You've known him for a long time, long enough to know everything about him, and you love him dearly
10) This change in personality has likely scared you, at least at first (as you admitted).
11) However, he is your husband, and you want to do things for him (i.e. go on an adventure)

Isn't it possible that you are perhaps grieving that he is no longer going to be the same person, the same father, the same lover, and may even become hostile? Isn't it possible that you are denying what is occurring to you and passing it off as some enlightenment that your husband is having?

Your evidence for his dreams possibly being true is that he imagined the other patient on fire because he smelled smoke. Turns out that the wiring in the wall he busted down was arching and going to cause a fire soon. That is awesome. I'm not being sarcastic. He saved a whole bunch of lives. But the facts remain as follows:

Your husband is a firefighter. He dreamed or imagined OR ACTUALLY DID smell smoke coming from the wall. As a trained fire fighter he recognized the smell as such, whether consciously or unconsciously, and broke down the wall.

Yes its a wonderful thing that your husband was there. I'm not taking that away from him. Perhaps an act of God. However, that is not to say that he is some sort of prophet. The two things can be mutually exclusive.

Here is how I see it:

Your husband's chronic headaches were the result of some underlying mental condition that was recently exacerbated or finally gave out which caused his 180 degree shift in personality. You are confronted by this situation and are trying to believe what your husband is saying, but ignoring the reality. Thus, you are hanging on to this one particular instance where a firefighter smelled smoke and busted down the wall/EXACT SPOT where the smoke was emanating. However, the truth is what it is. Your husband has this disorder, and you need to accept it.

To the OP, I understand how confusing and traumatic this situation must be for you. Just be sure to always err on the side of caution and keep your family’s safety in mind. Let us not forget that many people have devoted their lives to studying mental illnesses and thankfully there are treatments and medication that allow sufferers an opportunity to live a full and normal life.

Spirituality is wonderful, but we should all remember not to let our spiritual beliefs blind us from recognizing what may be very real and very serious mental issues.

You think her husband is crazy? That thought hasn't even crossed my mind. He's not crazy at all. He's contacting something or someone. Telepathically. He's predicting things out of nowhere and saved a hospital from burning down to the ground. There's nothing wrong with him, it's just that hes DIFFERENT. I can't believe that any of you guy's say theres something wrong with him when something about him completely changed. He has unique abilities and all of a sudden he wants to see the milky way? In my experience delusions of grandeur , unexplained prolonged periods of euphoria etc are part of the disorder so it would be very difficult for someone with this affliction to be aware of an actual spiritual moment as opposed to the many false alarms inherit within the disorder itself

I am really sorry about what happened to your husband. However, I think that the discussion going on in this thread is REALLY wrong. My both parents are psychiatrists and I studied to become one myself, however I quit for a number of reasons. Believe me, there are all kinds of mental states (most of them due to schizophrenia) which can lead to fantastic delusions, trips with aliens to other planets, conversations with God, reading other people's minds. The vast majority of these delusions follow very recognizable patterns which are now familiar to psychiatrists. So basically, just by talking to a person an experienced doctor can say with a 99.99999999999999% probability that these delusions are a product of a disease. People with no psychiatric knowledge or experience whatsoever can fantasize and ponder whether these delusions could be real, because the delusions are often so elaborate and often misleadingly logical. However, the sad part is that it's still a disease which needs to be treated just like any other non-mental disease.

Personally I find conversations like the ones in this thread ignorant and insulting. Fifth dimension? Come on... I do however believe in alien presence, UFOs, etc. However, we will be going nowhere without some common sense.

Thanks for filling us in on the rest of the story it makes more sense now. I can see now why you feel he should be on the meds. The fact that when you picked him up he was not being nice about it if you disagreed with him was a red flag. I wished you had said that in the beginning. And that he wanted to take you on a trip with the baby and not go home and prepare for it first etc. was more bizzar.

I am sorry it has been so trying for you and it sounds like you have done the best you can and as good as anyone could under the circumstances. I hope he continues to improve to the point where he can get off the meds and can still be on a spiritual high but remain rational on the day to day things of life.
