I support the people one hundred percent. I see all of this as a good thing for these brave people, I hope it spreads like wildfire. Then maybe, just maybe, these people will re-light the fires in us Americans that we once had when we were being oppressed. We are being oppressed now just like we were 250 years ago, same thing just in a different costume. Most people cant see it as oppression because of all the distractions and illusions that technology creates.

You're right my friend. If it was a full out dictatorship people would have no problem revolting. They have it down to an art where it can be a dictatorship hiding behind the mask of democracy. The United States is suffering a terrible case of Stockholm Syndrome.

Hey fellow Illinoian!

Yeah - I wish I was high when we were watching it... I would have laughed a lot harder!

So, now for entertainment purposes - I plan on getting the scoop on worldly events from the serious news casters around the globe and then flipping it to Fox... this is going to be FUN!

I really hope you have some sort of proof or link that shows OBAMA is responsible for this?

There are so many people in the gov't who have authority to do things, not just obama.
Im Lol'ing right now, picturing obamas sitting in the oval office,, all sweating. All of a sudden an alarm rings, in walks a 4 star general. "Sir, its time, have you made your choice?"

Obama sits there for a moment, downs a shot of johnny walker blue label, and goes "Alright, do it, cut off al-jazeera"

side note- anyone else find it funny that al jazeera is being the good guy, when only a few years ago, I was pretty sure bin laden worked there.

Yeah, I wish I could get my parents to quit watching fox, they watch that channel and take everything that is said there as gospel. Needless to say, it causes them and I a lot of arguments between us. I was talking earlier today to them and they were obviously against what the Egyptian military is doing and they are under the impression that the military are causing all of the problems. Furthest from the truth, the Egyptian military has raised the bar for the rest of the militaries around the world to take note of. I give kudos to that military and their generals, I hope they do not let me down, I am prior service and I take that oath I took very seriously and I still stand behind it to this day.

That made me lol

No definitive proof, but can you disprove it? He lies about everything else, why not cut off the source to the truth?

ON TOPIC:]

Why would your media do that? That's the question you need to be asking yourselves.

So the common folk don't get thoughts into their head?

Perhaps so.

The online channel is still streaming just fine, even after they were told to not broadcast from inside Egypt. Crazy to hear they are blocking access to the regular channel though. That's pretty big brother-ish of them, to look out for our sensitive little minds and thoughts like that. What a joke. Betcha they get this internet kill switch legislation approved this time.

Blocking access to the regular channel is what bothers me. I don't want to go there to watch weather and documentaries right now. Obama would do this after asking internet be returned to Egyptian citizens just 2 or 3 days ago? I don't put much past him but I don't think he did this - huh maybe I'm wrong.

You do understand that the reason Al Jazeera stopped broadcasting is because the Egyptian Government yanked their broadcast license. Al Jazeera got in trouble by the Egyptian Ministry of whatever for interviewing people who had been injured and the families who had members killed in the protests.

Al Jazeera has been accused by several MIDDLE EAST governments, not the US or Western, of antagonizing the protesters and "inciting riots" or whatever BS reason they want to use.

Western Media continues to report from Egypt, and their are pro Egyptian groups here in the States who have marched outside large cities to show solidarity with the Egyptian people. Our Government has called on Mubarik to respect the rights of those who are peacfully protesting, we have suspended aid to Egypt (about 3 Billion a year), and Western Media has been interviewing protest leaders so they cn get their message out to the World.

Why oh why do you want to continallu lay blame at our doorstep before finding out all the facts? Also people can drop the BS Mubarikis a US puppet installed by us. Mubarik came to power when Islamic radicals assasinated President Anwar Sadat for making peace with Israel.

Its a pro democracy movement by the people. Hopefully they will be more succesful than their IRanian counterparts.

Al Jazeera English was only carried by a few companies in like 3 states. I love how we come to the conclusion of censorship when its not the US Government blocking it. The cable companies are private businesses, and as such, can decide what programming they will show.

If you dont like it, quit complaining in here and go call your cable carrier and demand they carry it. If you are to lazy to do that, then go to their website and watch it live stream.

Trying to compare a lack of Al Jazeera coverage here in the States and the Egyptian Government shutting them down completely is absurd.

www.multichannel.com...

Al Jazeera vowed to cover the story regardless, and at press time midday Sunday continued to stream live from Cairo.

It's being broadcast online. Explain why it's not on TV?

Up until about 25-30 years ago, unless an American was a ham radio operator, the only news of "foreign" countries Americans knew about was filtered through American media. With the advent of satellite tv (the old big C band dish) some Americans were able to view what was happening in other countries.

Today unless sat tv viewers view the aforementioned channels or go online, I would venture to guess that many Americans are truly ignorant of what's happening in the world around them, unless they view what's filtered through news channels/media. We've gone from Communists under the bed to terrorists in the closet!

There is no reason not to be allowed to see Al-Jazeera now!! We talk about our freedoms, a free press, as being good for democracy. How free are we if we either

personally refuse to see world news unfiltered
watch only filtered American news
or are forbidden to see news

Not only are we not as free as we think we are, but we are ignorant. And a democracy can't survive on ignorance. Capitalism can, but not democracy.

With apologies to my fellow Americans who are not ignorant of the world around them. Obviously, I am not referring to you.

it seems a lot of present or former US officials are being interviewed by Al-Jazeera !

or is this all part of a Hollywood show ?

does the US media have any influence or financial interests in A.J. ?

Thank you for your contribution re the status of Al-Jazeera. I also like the rest of your post. This part also holds truths.

Much happening in that region. May it end with long lasting good results for the people and their countries.

Thank you!

And lest we forget history yes, *yawn* *boring* history...

Ironic...

The Muslim Brotherhood murdered Mubarak's predecessor Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, aligned with Al Qaeda and Hamas, and now pretends to be non-violent bringing in "aid", and they are working overtime to obsure the fact that they would impose Sharia law throughout the whole world.
