Al Jazeera English Blacked Out Across Most Of U.S.

www.huffingtonpost.com

WASHINGTON - Canadian television viewers looking for the most thorough and in-depth coverage of the uprising in Egypt have the option of tuning into Al Jazeera English, whose on-the-ground coverage of the turmoil is unmatched by any other outlet. American viewers, meanwhile, have little choice but to wait until one of the U.S. cable-company-approved networks broadcasts footage from AJE, which the company makes publicly available. What they can't do is watch the network directly.

It looks like we are seeing the corperate censorship machine at work again. It wasnt that long ago that we saw it at work against wikileaks. With mastercard, visa and amazon all removing there business with them.
Now they have turned it on the revoution in Egypt. Al Jazeera has been covering events in the area with excellence. Interviewing young people on the streets and asking them for the opinions. Really it puts our news channels to shame.
They dont want the truth to be seen. They dont want people to support the protesters in Egypt. The west likes things just the way they are there. Egypt and Israel blockade Palastine and people in power like it that way and through controling the media people in power are attempting to control what we think.
This same censorship is being used in Egypt. Al Jazeera have had there press permits revoked. Most of the internet is down, mobiles down and press controlled.
This method will no longer work. The truth will get out. Information no longer respects borders

Let the truth be heard....

See see Obama wants to censor the news media to control the flow of information. He wants to prevent the American people from overthrowing him!

I'm still getting al Jazeera Live English here english.aljazeera.net... (my provider is AT&T DSL).

Anyone having trouble can pick up SkyNews out of the UK, news.sky.com...

This the second best option available to us and is far more targeted and far more thorough and superior in its coverage than CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews, and even the BBC, which all appear to be leaning more to showing what is being shown on Egyptian state TV or covering the economic aspects. Pathetic!

P.S. SkyNews appears to be relying on the al Jazeera feed to a degree but also appear to have at least one other.

You know, I'm not a fan of Obama by any stretch of the imagination, but I really don't think your BS one line comment really added anything of worth to this discussion.

what's happening in egypt is what america want's to happen to iran, a popular uprising to remove an oppressive regime. the only problem is that america doesn't like it when it's their oppressive puppet dictator that gets overthrown.

american state censorship does't want the average american citizen to see first hand honest accounts of what america has done to the egyptian people by placing a mad dog war criminal to control them through fear and torture.

another example of american hypocrisy and why the middle eastern people are angry at america. it has nothing to do with plasma t.v.'s and mcdonalds like the media want's you to think.

the american empire is evil, american citizens are as much victims as the egyptians. use your constitutional rights to overthrow tyranny. it is you patriotic duty. do it with the legal recourses you have at your disposal before you end up victims of a nuclear blast.

hypocritical much? where is your contribution to this thread other than crying?

I'll elaborate. Obama is scum for the fact he chooses to censor information from us that pertains to the situation effecting the rest of the world in fear that Americans will wake up and the same will happen here. He uses propaganda like FOX and CNN to spew his geyser of lies and fear to the American people rather than getting it from a first hand source so we think we're getting the full story, but we're really getting their watered down BS version of the "truth." Get a happy meal, dry up your tears and move on now little girl.

One of my former neighbors was an independent news cameraman who would frequently get hired to film events for Al Jazeera.

The network often takes an anti-U.S. Government stance, and indeed sometimes paints the average American as a victim of our government's policies.

You know pretty much the same stuff our networks do with nations we are politically opposed too.

So no boys and girls this is not on our 'approved' viewing list, and I think it much more 'appropriate' we focus in on the fact that Iran is lying to it's people by claiming that what is happening in Egypt is an Islamic revolution similiar to their own in 1979!

Also that Egypt (Mubarak) is our friend and was properly elected back in 1979 after he had his predecessor murdered.

Finally that violence is really bad, that our best bet for hope and change, is voting for one of the pre-screened, pre-selected by the Powers that Be politicians who arbitrarily decide the 600,000 laws we get to live under for our own protection and freedom, while helping the International Banking Cartel loot our treasury, of what the Military Industrial Complex hasn't taken to built a perfect syping and killing machine so we could never be as foolish and wrong as these naughty, naughty people taking to the streets in Egypt.

This is America and anyone who says we aren't free, and shouldn't be proud of letting our government murder indiscriminately around the world to steal resources for the corporations is just bad and should not be listened too.

Something a bit strange - check this out:

I wanted to do a bit of a test to see how the MSM was covering the story - so, I decided to see what stories were being told on the following networks: CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News.

What I found was pretty disturbing and impressive all at the same time.

CNN was seemingly doing their best to cover the story, but missing small tid bits being covered by Al Jazeera
MSNBC was showing Al Jazeera footage but commenting on what they believe to be happening by proxy of the AJ network.
Fox News was spewing nothing but complete crap. I even turned to my wife and we both were like "what?" Seriously - the way they were spouting about, it almost seemed like terrorists were hiding in my closet ready to jump out and go "booo!" any second! Suddenly the Muslim Brotherhood was/ or is some crazy terror network linked wit Al Quada and Al Jazeera is insighting the Muslim world to revolt against the west - especially the USA...

I was like W T F?

If anyone wants a great quick laugh, turn on Fox News... it is for paranoid old people, or ignorant youth. Simply crazy... I just can't get over how off balance they are.
