"This guy's boss cannot trust him anymore because he may, or may not, let people or things through that he shouldn't according to the laws in force. When this happens, well unfortunately you get fired".

Sorry your just wrong. Lots of Cops want it decriminalized. Most are afraid to speak out. This guy did not announce his views publicly. He just mentioned it to his uneducated co-worker. This is America. He can have a opinion...

At least I think we are still free........Ok, Back to my bowl of Blue Dream...

PS. Enjoy your Alcohol that has killed millions.

This isn't about legalization. This guy stated an opinion and has now lost his job? I would say that is Bullsh!+

You said search his house.....why? becuase of his opinion?

Nonsense.

Yes!

THIS is, far and away, the most important aspect of this story, and I hope folks focus upon this moreso than the lame 'war on drugs' (although this is important as well).

This is about an individual being PUNISHED for exersizing his first amendment rights, and being treated like a TERRORIST by his own gov for doing so!

It is actually quite creepy and telling of what is taking place here on a wide scale, imho.

How absurd.

Nearly every celebrity openly admits to smoking pot, on TV, in front of America. Some even smoke it on TV, live TV. An Olympian swimmer smoked pot, and was essentially just "scolded" because he was a gold medalist.

I couldn't care less if this border guard loses his job or not. I'm more concerned with the state of affairs regarding Nazi stormtroopers breaking down doors of the lower-to-middle classes and locking them up for pot. While the rest of the first world is 'moving on' with reality, so to speak.

America has been fully divided. A total class war and the destruction of integrity.
What a joke, honestly, what a sick, stupid joke.

Say what you want and insult me if it make you feel better about yourself. There is no good reason for marijuana to be legalized.

Why don't you provide for us all, one good reason why it should remain a schedule one substance, which according to your government, who only wants to help, is much more dangerous than the likes of something like say... Heroin (schedule 2).

Seriously, if you're completely honest with yourself, you'll come to the conclusion that any negative, detrimental effects that Marijuana has had on society at large, are directly as a result of it's prohibition, not it's use.

While there are many, it's irrelevant to discuss why it should be legalized. What's relevant, is why it should *not* be criminalized.

I must have missed the documentation of your crusade against the alcohol and tobacco industries, and the war you must obviously be waging to get these substances criminalized to the greatest extend imaginable. After all, they are both responsible for precisely 100% more deaths than Marijuana, so those must really be on your radar, right? Happy, hungry, sleepy buddy, that is all. Nobody ever smoked a joint and thought, "hmm, I think I'll beat my wife and kids"...

If you truly, honestly believe that someone should be incarcerated for the entirety of their lives, for being found to be in possession of a single marijuana cigarette, then you my friend, truly have defined an entirely new level of ignorance. It's not 1950, you can see "Reefer Madness" for what it actually is now. Or, keep your head in the sand, and live in terror. After all, there are millions of pot smokers out there, likely thousands within a 5 square mile radius of your current location. Be prepared, at any time one or all of them might just get "activated" by their evil vice, and come after you in a cannabis fueled zombie apocalypse. Trust nobody, as the enemy is all around. They are your doctors and lawyers, your banker sparks up every night after dinner. Your insurance agent is moving to a state that allows him to maintain his quality of life by treating his chronic pain (brought on my an automobile accident caused by a drunk) with effective medication with no side-effects (save for happy, hungry, sleepy). You never suspected, but your family mechanic of over 30 years now, has been smoking every day of every one of those 30 years.

Look the point is, you have no education in the subject, with the exception of the short and terrifying pamphlet you were given on the evil that is Cannabis in the second grade. Were you sufficiently informed on the matter, you'd understand perfectly well, that the prohibition of cannabis has nothing to do with any threat that it poses to any individual, group, or society in general. Cannabis is completely non-toxic, and while inebriating, exhibits none of the violent tendencies or other potentially dangerous psychological effects that alcohol produces. Although, cannabis will definitely kill lab rats... It takes 20 pounds of pot, dropped directly on the rat from 20 feet up, but the rat is dead for sure...

What the officer in the OP was saying, is that we're wasting a lot of time, money and resources, attempting to eradicate a substance that a) can never, ever be eradicated, and b)never did any harm to anyone in the first place. These two points cannot by argued away, they're just facts.

we cant end the war on it because this would put much of the DEA out of work.

That's not the only thing. Rationally speaking, they seem...well...afraid:

According to the FBI, 48 law-enforcement officers nationwide were feloniously killed in the line of duty in 2009, and none of these were killed by enforcing drug laws. It makes sense that going after murderers would be more dangerous than sniffing under college students’ doors. But policing exists to make society safer, and hunting down nonviolent marijuana users at the expense of thousands of unsolved assaults, rapes, and murders does nothing to accomplish this.

And who the hell are they to play to god, some of those shops customers have serious or terminal illnesses and marijuana is the only substance that alleviates their symptoms WITHOUT harmful side effects.
By the way people marijuana is not jut used to get high, lets not forget hemp which has no thc and can be used for hundreds off things such as clothes its a RENEWABLE substance too .

It's impossible to know how many crashes involve people who are stoned, see above, so no real comparison is possible.

It's impossible to prove they were driving while stoned anyway so they shouldn't worry so much... they won't be arrested even if they kill someone, no deterrant factor.

The only way to prevent these deaths is to prevent people from getting stoned.

P.S. Most people can walk in a straight line perfectly well while over the legal limit, most drunk drivers aren't the people stumbling around plastered, they're the people who had 3 or 4 beers after work.

I can't believe that. Because of a personal opinion he got fired? I hope he wins his lawsuit.

It's funny how big pharma and doctors push "hilbilly heroin" (aka oxycontin, percocets) like candy, over prescribe them, get paid billions of dollars and killing thousands of people... and never see the inside of a jail cell.

yet marijuana is still illegal. The guy who got caught smoking a joint on his porch gets jail time, even though he is not dealing it, or hurting anybody.

Yet, cigars and cigarettes, which have been proven to cause cancer not only to the user but the people around them, is still completely legal!

We are totally backwards!

He should not be fired for expressing his views either way
unless they have evidence of him actually letting people
with pot go free, which they don't.
Another failed promise from Obama when
he stated he would decriminalize pot (which only a pothead would of believed :lol

Even Obama said he smoked weed and snorted coke AND that he would
decriminalize pot. So how can the police trust him?

They have no idea how to regulate or tax cannabis. It is very easy to set a tax rate for alcohol. Cannabis is a bulk product that varies greatly in potency. As you know THC is very small and its potency is not easily identified by sight. The plant as a product in our market would be unique. However, we are so deep in debt as a Nation. Seems like somebody could come up with a way to tax it.

Hemp is used for thousands of things. Sounds like it could bring jobs in many sectors of our economy...

en.wikipedia.org...

That does not take into account the medical benefits. Which are many.
