"Secret" English base in Northern Enlgand, P.S hi.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and have something which has been "bothering" me for a good few months. I've never had an account here, although read many threads, so sorry if this is not the right place to post, but i'd like some information?

I drive past this location every week, yet I've never quite worked out what it is. Although, it does seem slightly strange, as it is protected by an inner and outer ring of fences in addition to there being many, many, cameras.

Now, I doubt what happens at this location is intended to be "secret", yet it seems to be hard to find any details about it on the internet and on Google maps the satellite view has been doctored, so you cannot see what is inside.

It seems to only be small however, and looks very mysterious. I doubt there's a conspiracy here, but it would be nice to know what it is used for.

There seems to be lots of hangars or "sheds", which cannot be made out in the picture, along with many security cameras and two rings of fencing.

Might I just add, I do not think this is some highly guarded state secret, it's right next to the motorway, but it seems strange to me nonetheless.

Very strange indeed. Perfectly circle, almost looks like 'shutter flaps'.

My guess is either a protected resource such as a reservoir? Or maybe a military bunker or something to do with energy resources?

When driving past you see a circle of hangers or "sheds", it almost looks like helicopter hangers. Hell if I ever saw a helicopter hanger, I'd guess it would look like these.

Just to reiterate, are you talking about the white circular thing?

So... It's protected by fences? How tall are the structures?

Yes, on Google Maps it appears as a white circle, to the eye it is a series of hangers or sheds, in a circle, which are just raised above the hill slightly. The "base" seems to be protected by two rings of tall metal fencing and security cameras.
It also seems as if it is all built onto a structure, which is round, but the edges are all green, so it just appears very low when looking at it from road level, although I cannot work out if it is low, or on a platform or whatever.

If you street view on the motor way, you can make out the hangers/sheds

That is exactly what I can see, so it figures.

Like I said, I didn't think there was anything being hidden here, but it did seem quite strange!

Yeah in all honesty Its a blooming Strange resovoire, But theres another one which i found a Post which was ridiculasly strange!..I was even suspicious till i Got Google earth to bring up Building information And it was marked "Weeton resovoire"

My thoughts exactly, seems rather strange.

I still swear I see a ton of hangers, but I am some distance from it on the motorway.

That's what I see, roughly, but you can't make the fences out.

There are two. My question is why would a reservoir be underground in a flat area with insufficient height to be able to supply anything unless pumped. What feeds the reservoir(s)?

That looks like a HUGE door built into a hill side doesn't it?

Oh, that explains it very well!

Here was me hoping for atleast for it to be a base of black helicopters

Have to say I have never seen a storage facility like that. Good find OP - sorry it was not a 'secret base'
