Yeah - - most Los Angeles schools have metal detectors.

But - - all ya gotta do is have a "friend" toss one over the fence and keep it hidden somewhere on campus.

I know it's not exactly on topic, but it definitely is relative. This story hit this morning. It's not far from where I reside.

Well....hate to say it, but knowing the demographics of the area as well as I do.....

....wouldn't be surprised the shooter and the victims were of Hispanic aka Mexican origin.

There is also a large African American population too....gangs form in those groups as well.

It is a terrible fact of the "culture" the socio-economic influences......lower, mostly below middle-class....

The fact is that the typical murderer has had a prior criminal history of at least six years with four felony arrests in his record before he finally commits murder.(17) The FBI statistics reveal that 75 percent of all violent crimes for any locality are committed by six percent of hardened criminals and repeat offenders.(18) Less than 2 percent of crimes committed with firearms are carried out by licensed (e.g., concealed carry permit holders) law-abiding citizens.(11)

So more gun control will only affect less than 2% of all crimes committed with firearms. How does further regulating those 2% really help the situation? Shouldn't we focus our attentions on the other 98% to really see an impact?

Well there are Asian gangs in the U.S. as well. Who knows really? I knew a kid in my class who had to carry a gun to protect himself from gangs near the school. Many gangs and gang members could care one less about who you are and your own life.

Americans guns are not going ANYWHERE.. There would so many dead authorities if they went door to door taking guns away. Even if they did ban them and didn't go door to door almost every American has at least one it surely would not keep crazy people from getting them and going on shooting sprees.

It is a gang area.

This kid may have been threatened and felt he needed to protect his own life.

The school district is making some WILD claims. Very strange.

They are saying that the backpack containing the gun, was dropped and ONE.....ONE bullet hit three people.

Three people do not get shot from the gun *accidentally* going off. That is asinine. No way a pistol is spraying shots like that.

That's possible if the bullet hit something and caused shrapnel

I know the origin of both Hispanic and Latino. But people from Mexico and Latin America are called Latino and Hispanic.

OH I don't think they're going to go after the guns over this, or anything else. the powers that be already know whats been building up and whats coming next if they attempt to pull the ole gun card.

No.... Latino means from Latin america. These are all different terms it would be like calling a canadian an american.
