So if we are going to be passing through the debris field I guess that means we'll should be able to see the spaceship. Wait, never mind, wrong comet.

SonOfTheLawOfOne covered that point in this post where he says that Calleman calculates the end of the 5th Mayan Sun to be October 2011, right when this baby is due!.

At a magnitude of between 6 and 8 at it's brightest (which will only be visible unaided in the very best of conditions) I'm fairly certain this will be a remarkably unspectacular event. meh....

I see posts saying long perheilion but your number 2 point says:

Also you mentioned that this body was from the Oort Cloud. That's not 3,600 yrs away.

What a trip, it's the high and dry caves systems for me and mine. I will stay abreast of this but do you think that we will be allowed to know the truth or will it be kept hush hush so as not to disrupt commerce in the meantime?

This is very scary news, reminds me of that NOVA series about the 10 worst case scenarios for Planet earth.

Thats interesting about Loughner saying our callender is out by a year, it reminds me of something i read many years ago, it relates to the gregorian monks not acknowledging the year 666 and just skipped it.

I recall the comet in the movie "Deep Impact" being called "ELE" which stood for End of Life Event.

This comet is called 'ELEnin"
