I worked personal security. If I asked someone to leave an area, or back up, and they grabbed me they would eat the floor. I don't care if it was a slap or not. I have trained with guys that are highly skilled in Ju Jitsu, Akido, Judo, Thai boxing, Arnis, and Sambo. I know what can be done with an innocent looking touch.

You call it hiding. I call it facing the truth from the perspective of a person that has been there.

HAHA so what can be done with an innocent touch?? I have friends work security too. Don't justify it bro. You and I both know when somebody is hostile & or looking to be 'cute' or 'funny'. Plus he approached me and already made the aggressive move of putting his hands on me. Not my back or side shoulder. He put it where he was trying to get a reaction. My neck. And yet I still wasn't aggressive back. You sound like one of them. Guys like you are different from me. I want to hurt somebody who is trying to hurt me or others. Not innocents.
edit on 16-1-2011 by jboogienoj because: (no reason given)

The guy I trained with that knew Arnis and Thai boxing could reach up grab a hand, apply a finger joint lock, knee you in the nuts, and break your nose in the time it took you too say, "what the ****."

I am like you I don't want to hurt innocents. I also realize that evil doesn't always come across as malicious. I understand the guy smiling in your face can swiftly change in to a threat.

My dad's cousin was a cop. There was this guy that would stand outside this one gas station and drink his coffee every morning before going to work. He would smile and engage in conversation with my dad's cousin every morning. The guy was friendly and polite. So when the guy wanted to shake his hand one day he didn't think about. The guy was laughing at a joke when he grabbed the cousin's right hand. He came out with his dominant left hand and stabbed him four times in the stomach.

So, for me, if I am working security and you put your hands on me, I'm putting you in the dirt. That definitely applies after I have requested you leave an area or back up. Security work is a dangerous job. The people in that profession aren't going to take any chances with their survival or well being.

To add, I wouldn't have put my hands on you unless you were being argumenative, obviously refusing to leave, or becoming violent. What he did in the begining was unprofessional.

i wish i could have been on here sooner , i was a bouncer, this is not right they could have killed you!!!!!, my feeling is they were off duty leo's and most likely from the same PS, you went to to file report , my advice get down to the DA office and make a complaint there, side step the cops in this matter for if they are off duty cops, well it is like stirring a hornets nest they do not like it, the DA will tell you what your options are. go to the ER as well have you self checked out!!!! redness in the eye is not good, could lead to a BLEED in the BRAIN, or worse- COFFIN. just think you might save the next victims life.

Sue them good luck. bouncers never work alone and i will bet if they had security cameras out side they don't have a tape of the confrontation. They will always have a airtight story that you caused the problem.

All the bouncers have to claim is you were a belligerent drunk and your friends were drunk to.

The cops don't care. If they did not see it, it did not happen

Seen it all when i was in the Navy, Even had a bouncer push me around when I was on shore patrol duty and the cops did nothing. i reported it to my LT.
Couple nights later the same bouncer pushed around a Marine shore patrolman and got fed a riot control stick.
the cops still did nothing.(many of the San Diego cops were ex marines or navy.)
The next day there were 4 Marine shore patrolman and a sign posting the bar off limits to all military personal.

The bar owner took a hint and fired the bouncer.

Sue them! File a police report and see a doctor and get a medical report you will need them. There is no way that choke hold was done right or you would have been out in 5 seconds. So either they were not trying to put you to sleep or they do not know how to apply the choke.

Haha I know what your saying. Believe me I do. I have put MANY guys in RNC's and have been in many. YES his choke was Perfect. Too perfect. But by the grace of God or my own personal will and pride I was able to remain conscious longer than I even believed possible, in a choke that was MUCH TIGHTER than I have EVER been in. After 3.5 year of grappling I know when I'm being choked. I can also escape sometimes but not with guys holding you and cuffing you. There was much more intent in this choke then I have EVER felt. AGAIN, I'm not saying this to sound tough or special but this is a fact. My friends were truly in shock that I was able to withstand that kind of assault with no air or blood in such a death grip choke. They were choking me before AND after they cuffed me. My throat injuries alone are testament to how tight the choke was. I've seen guys pass out in less than 10 seconds from far less pressure. Just saying.

IMO.. make a police report, these dudes decided to kick your ass is all that sounds like.

Private security in Ca have ZERO powers of authority... guards absolutely cannot use force to remove people. A guard is considered an "agent" of his/her employer, as such they are "empowered" to ask you to leave.. should you refuse, security can make a "citizens arrest" (837PC) for trespass (602PC). After they've citizens arrested you.. they can legally cuff you, then they must deliver you to a "peace officer" without delay.

Guards are also required to have various "cards" issued by Ca dept of consumer affairs.. aka "guard card". After you make a report detectives will crawl up those dudes sphincters and cite anyone without proper permits.. a copy of the report will also be forwarded to ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) which usually ends up in the alcohol permit holder being fined. Depending on the number of reports, the bar could be shut down or risk losing their ABC license.

If you were in:
Hollywood (LA City): LAPD Hollywood Div (known by street urchin locals as the Wilcox motel) 1358 N. Wilcox Avenue Hollywood CA 90028 213-972-2971

West Hollywood: Sheriffs' Dept Station IX W. Hollywood, 780 N. San Vicente Bl. W. Hollywood, CA 90069 (310) 855-8850

www.leginfo.ca.gov...
837. A private person may arrest another:
1. For a public offense committed or attempted in his presence.
2. When the person arrested has committed a felony, although not
in his presence.
3. When a felony has been in fact committed, and he has reasonable
cause for believing the person arrested to have committed it.

602. Except as provided in subdivision (u), subdivision (v),
subdivision (x), and Section 602.8, every person who willfully
commits a trespass by any of the following acts is guilty of a
misdemeanor: (snip huge text)

Very true
you really know your stuff.

But check this out, if you were not in a celebrity position, had no money (not literally no money), had no power, or known noone (somewhat powerful individuals).....your report/ complaint would get you nowhere.

P.S. Rodney King is a special case; he's black, beaten up by white cop, and the whole thing got on tape.

Well Like I said it was not applied right he apparently did not have enough pressure on the carotid artery because I don't care who you are or how long you have been grappling when the oxygen to the brain is cut off nighty night. I get you in an RNC you are going to sleep. You must have had your chin in or something or the guy did not have the right angle. I take it he was standing so maybe he was to the side of you a bit because he was crushing your larynx instead of pressing the artery or something. How much were you drinking? If you have been grappling 3 years I am surprised you let him get it just our of shear reaction unless the booze slowed you down.

I am 52 and still grapple and anyone even thinks of getting around back of me chin down and I will have a wrist and will be turned into the guy...

Hey man.. I'm not promising justice & flowers. It is entirely possible the cops wont give a # or do #.. and be rude about it. Cops (many) don't care when 2 crack heads beat each-other up or mall security thumps a few taggers.. it's called "AVI" (A hole Vs idiot).. thats just how "the game" is played.

But..now and then a cop / detective ire is raised when a working stiff common street dude minding his own business.. gets boned by a few jerk-offs.. civilian wronged. Maybe OP dude gets lucky, cops care, go down to the bar and punk those guards.. then pimp slap the permit holder with a $2k administrative fine from ABC as a reminder guards can't randomly assault and or batter people with impunity.

Sorry to hear about what happened - this kind of thing makes me furious. I'm not a violent person at all, but I know I'd be tempted to get a few friends together and wait for this guy.

However......

You are right to go down the other route. And do it quickly. Get the police involved immediately, so that you can get access to any CCTV footage before it gets wiped.

Sorry buddy, but you are the one who is at fault here. You put yourself in a situation where you were vulnerable. You were drinking, you let a threat get too close. Your 'buddies' are punks, find some new ones, preferably ones with balls. You should always be aware of your surroundings, never let your guard down, always be assessing your situation. You let another man lay hands on you, hurt you, and now you apparently have selective memory. I would like to hear the 'real' story.

I hope like heck that you actually learned something from this. Truth be told, you got off lucky. Next time you may not survive the attack. You best man up, because you 'ain't seen nothing yet'. As for the lawyer? Grow a pair, go down to the bar and confront the man who choked you. If you do not, then YOU LOSE your sense of self confidence and perhaps your manhood. It will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Last but not least, quit your whining online, it does NOTHING to remedy the situation.

i didn't read all the replies but you really need to file a police report at least.... and definitely get a lawyer.

Being very well versed in brazilian jiu jitsu, defending against multiple attackers while you are sitting down unprovoked is about as tough as a situation you can be in.

The only thing you can really do is defend. If you get your back to the ground, unless the guy knows how to "take ones back" which is unlikely, he will let go of the choke. Then you're still in a horrible position, but it gets rid of the choke.

There are many pi attorneys that would take this case on. It seems like it would be something at least easy enough to force them to settle out of court from. Especially if everything you said is true.

You need to go to the ER to ascertain the extent of your injuries. Also, look up recommended attorneys locally and call many of them.

Something to consider is that it is probably not the business owner or even the managers of the place that promote this kind of behavior by security. Many times, as we have all seen with police officers and others in power, people just get too aggressive and do irrational things when they think they have free reign. Your lawsuit will show that they do not have free reign.

Please don't just let your vented anger out through a 'letter to no one' on the net. Please DO something so this kind of thing makes news and makes other clubs consider better training for security. If you don't do anything meaningful using the law then you are doing a disservice to yourself and others.

Thanks for providing me with a laugh this morning. If your layrnx and trachial area were crushed, you'd be in a hospital recovering from reconstructive surgery and heavily sedated, not on ATS whimpering about getting thrashed.

If this was a real event, you'd have no recollection or details of the events as you describe them. You'd have been adrenalized, biting, kicking, pulling hair, gouging eyes rather than making mental notes. I can see why some of the members here are blunt and direct with threads like this. BTW, why did your friends stand there and watch this happen?

well you're in America.
Sue their buttocks, sue the 4 guards, sue the bar,sue the police for not being there, sue your friends for not reacting, sue the state for not letting you have a gun.

I am not joking.SOMEONE has to pay for what happened.
Good luck. And in a year you'll be RICH and they will be poor, miserable, have a crappy job and wonder all their life where they would stand if they had not violated someone's dignity, pride and integrity and innocence.
