Good evening all
This may sound controversial but would the world now be a better place if the war had gone in Germany's favor?
In my mind i think Hitlers vision of united Europe with Germany at the center would not necessarily of been a bad thing . He was willing to try alternatives to the accepted "normal" science, therefore we might of had alternative energy sources by now ?
The way he turned Germany from recession to a superpower in less that a decade has to be commended.Hitler was on the cover of time magazine in 1938 as Person of the Year .I not saying all his methods where right but the over all plan of a united social country may not have been a bad idea ,History denotes that the victor can write the book our children read and learn from. We have always been told at school the Nazis were evil which no doubt there where some bad men in the Nazi party as power corrupts.
But with the War over i wonder what the world would be like now if the outcome where different ...
and would it be better?
What your thoughts?

If you are looking for a potential upside to the axis winning the war, then you could say the only real positive would be the elimination of communists, stalinists and "progressives", and thus a more prosperous and happy world.

The downside, of course, is having the national socialists in charge along with the inevitable holocausts.

Well you could argue two points:

1) Hitler gave the world Volkswagen.

en.wikipedia.org...
Adolf Hitler declared his intentions for a state-sponsored "Volkswagen" program. Hitler required a basic vehicle capable of transporting two adults and three children at 100 km/h (62 mph). The "People's Car" would be available to citizens of the Third Reich through a savings scheme at 990 Reichsmark, about the price of a small motorcycle (an average income being around 32RM a week)

2) Hitler built a lot of roads (for the Reich).

en.wikipedia.org...
The construction of the Autobahn system, which had already been planned in the Weimar Republic, began in 1933 under Adolf Hitler as a public works project, providing government jobs to unemployed Germans. The Autobahn also served another purpose: the road connection between various regions within Germany could make military defense and logistics much more efficient and rapid in response.

Past those two points, I'm not sure what other good might of came from a successful Hitler.. You always hear about clandestine operations by the Nazis into "alternative sciences", UFOs, etc, but all the big moves and shakers got co-op't in Operation Paperclip and came right here to the US of A to live out the American Dream of building the 1st "Bomb".. among things.

Makes you wonder what kind of Nazi, 3rd Reich ideas still to this day fill the halls of our Defense Projects....

I don't believe it would matter if Hitler won the war or not. The people behind him that funded the war and Hitler had a hand in post-WW2 geopolitics anyway. Hitler was the puppet, the people who pulled the strings are the ones we needed to worry about.

Due to the Final Solution and the systemised mass murder of non Aryans/mentally ill people/communists-socialists and others who did not fit into Hitler's vision, then the answer is definately no.

Let me tell you a story.
I have a pure German last name, I am not German but was adopted by my stepfather and carry his last name. Anyhow I went to get an MRI done last Summer and a couple came in with a very old man on a walker, they sat him down and waited. They went up and gave the man`s name which was Jewish. The elderly man had on short sleeve shirt and I noticed a numbered tattoo running up and down his arm. I never saw a tattoo like that before.
The nurse them came out and called my name, first name, last name, the old man looked at me me like I was the devil standing there in person.
I came home and looked up the tattoo on the computer and I am pretty sure it was one given to them at Auschwitz concentration camp.
So no I think Hitler was the epitamy of evil for what he did. If you could have seen the fear in that old man`s eyes. I told my mother afterwards I was ashamed to have a German name. Some other things have happened to me too because of it and I am not even German. My real last name before I was adopted was of English origin.

A united Europe with Germany at the center - that's what it is now. Hitler's party was the National Socialist Party so every country in Europe would be socialist - that's what they are now. So really if you took away the Jewish thing - it's probably pretty much the same.

Did you know Hitler wasn't the the first to use concentration camps ?
The British government used them to round up Africans from their villages to sell to America for slavery and any resistance meant death ,But that doesn't get talked about much....

I'd really have to side with HEREFORD on this one. In light of what we know Hitler and those around him were involved in:

Definitely won't trust that man as a more powerful world power (e.i. if he had won the war).

The world would have been a better place for anyone the Nazis deemed acceptably "Aryan".

Hundreds of millions would have been enslaved in Africa and Asia and South America, or simply exterminated.

If Hitler had won against the west, inevitably he would have come up against the Japanese Empire, as he did against his one time allies the Soviets.

Japan would have been as decimated as was Dresden.

The thousand year Reich would have been born in blood and slavery.

No.

All Hitler promised was a new dark age, filled with new terrors and new atrocities, based on his own version of history.

Hitler and his minions sought to invoke the Norse gods, mistakenly thinking he and his subhuman followers were the descendants of that linage; they sought to invoke through necromancy those Gods - hence the death camps.

He was in for one helluva surprise when they did in fact invoke the norse gods, and those Gods took his ass to the cleaners.

Like he would have stopped at the Jews, the gypsies, and the mentally unstable. A victorious Germany would have needed a lot of oil to fuel their industries and all those Volkswagens. Do you honestly believe he would have bought that oil from a bunch of "sub-humans"(remember he wanted Aryan purity, arabs would not fit), especially non-catholic sub-humans? I would actually be surprised if he did not "purify" the mid east and later Africa.

The idea that a policy of nation socialism would have eliminated "progressives" is interesting in that it seems contradictory. Since it was a variety of fascism that borrowed from both right and left ideologies adds to the contradiction until one notices it borrows the worst from the two.

In practice it was extreme far right. Those that hold that it has its virtue should be delighted that we seem to be headed that direction. No doubt their isolationism paid-off by allowing them to independently pursue advanced technologies that have proven valuable to the world to this day.

First of all, just let me say I must be NUTS for replying to your post because you obviously do not deserve my time and effort. Here is a list of important accomplishments and discoveries by people who were Jewish. Without these people, the world would not have such important things as Relativity Theory, a vaccine for polio, the gramophone, the forerunner of the record player, the phrase "give me your tired...your poor...your huddled masses," which appears as the inscription on the Statue Of Liberty, and hundreds more extraordinarily important discoveries and accomplishments.

There are about a million other things I would like to say in response to your post, but I do not want to further dignify your words with more of my words, nor do I think there would be any point in further discussion with you. I will not be replying to anything else you have to say.
