Or perhaps Loughner discussions are just a wee bit - embarrassing - for you, hmmm...? I would think you would want to discuss him and his heinous crimes if for no other reason than to distinguish ATS members from him. Alas that may not be possible as it would appear that a minority of ATS members in some sick way actually approve of Loughner's crimes. They were hoping those were the first shots of the revolution they pine away for. Such psychotic ideation isn't that far removed from Loughner's twisted inner world and I would think most here would want to deny the ignorance before yet another tragedy occurs.

Yesterday I did notice a few new member introductions which seem a little strange. They told about their isolation and distrust of the government. Two of these members had dr./doc in their screen name.

They seemed like psych students trying to pretend they are conspiracy theorists.

i dont give a rats a$$ what the msm say about ats, it may be the biggest site of its kind, but for the majority of the world its a niche site and mostly unheard of.
i dont mean this in a derogetory way to ats or other sites, but i think its a non-issue.

Lilitu hit on something valid.. some of the folks here and elsewhere that are fantasizing constantly and wishing daily for a "revolution" where they are the lone survivor alpha male with the cool guns that is gonna run to the hills and survive.. maybe be king of the hill revolutionaries.
Perhaps you havent read a few threads where this mind set was not only apparent... it was praised... as well as the fantastic claims of shooting people who trespass or try to take their hoarded stuff and BoBs... cannibalism when they got hungry and all kinds of movie based nonsense they truly believe and are gleefully wishing for.
Its a minority here.. but they ARE here and elsewhere promoting this nonsense. SOme need to lay off of the dystopian apocalyptic fiction and start moving into real world thinking. There are reasonable preppers and survivalists and there are people who are indulging twisted fantasies. The anonymity of the net allows the rest of us to see it nd the MSM may blur that very distinct line/difference between the two.

My approach to it.. Hey, if thats the way they think or feel.. more power to them. Id rather see them acting out their fantasies on here than sitting naked in their basements counting their ammo and rubibing MREs all over their bodies while planning armed revolutions and mass murders. Im not one who demands group think... But they also need to be responsible for their actions and own their words. WHen I say that I will participate in armed action when the time calls.. if my country calls.. I own it.

Lilitu has just read the same posts I have apparently and is pointing it out.
She may have also seen what I have seen elsewhere that people initially were all lathered up in some frenzy over this being the second " shot heard around the world" and a call to start this mythical revolution. You definitely have to wonder about that thought process and those that promote or defend it. Here at ATS I doubt that sickness would be tolerated by mods or even the overwhelming majority of posters who are decent people and see this all for what it is. Elsewhere.. its allowed if not promoted. The media will definitely call attention to these places and these posters before this site.. ever. Jared didnt come here exclusively or for very long at all. He was shut down by several posters in mature and responsible ways. Certainly not the media titillating gossip that is sought.

And many of us are Star Wars geeks too.
I am sure that lands us on some kind of sick list.

REALLY, you actually think people like me and TEA PARTIERS dream about a war?

WOW. You could not be so wrong. Yes, a lot of people say things like bring it on. I can not wait till they start it. I hope they attempt it. Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Do you know why they say this? They are sick and tired of waiting for the inevitable. Seems something in and amongst the anarchy created by the killings this week, something went under the radar.

The judge that was killed just made a preliminary ruling on a case. That the government cannot seize assets from people without a case being concluded. You know, the case that goes back to 1933 where the government seized the gold from people.

HMMMM, was it actually against the representative or was the target someone else?

By the way, me not being one of the types of the Political Correctness, kinda like Levin, Bite me.

Youre probably pretty safe unless you wear a storm trooper suit while shooting randomly into a crowd.

Funnily enough, a dude up in Buffalo, NY robbed a bank a couple years ago
wearing a Darth Vader costume.
He got away riding a bicycle, and he never was caught.

Thanks to posts like this one, ATS is too smart for the media. Sometimes the obvious needs to be stated. You deserve stars, flags, and thank yous.

I think it would just be foolish for the media to try and attack a website where there is open debate on a wide range of topics. I have been on ATS for along long time... My sign up date doesnt even compare to when I truely started coming here to get fresh new perspective on the things that are going on in this world around us. I hope that this one person doesnt taint the millions of smart, intellictual beings here... I have learned a great deal from a lot of different people. Whats even worse is that most of the topics are considered "taboo" and its ashame that most people will now consider the topics and the memember nut cases just because of one bad apple. Lets hope people arent to quick to judge,

LMAO!!!

Yep.. star wars enthusiasts are definitely on a list somewhere now.

We had a guy out here that robbed a bank wearing a Hilary Clinton halloween mask. Wonder if she is on a list too....
People do some weird stuff.. the issue is the crime itself, the persons responsibility for it... and not their or the medias lame excuses for it.

ATS isnt an issue IMO.. theyre too busy blaming Palin and everyone else for it.

I chose this place for a reason and anyone stumbling on it will see it as well.. the majority of people here are sane and police the site themselves. The mods are reasonable and actually moderate and not suppress or demand group think. And last but not least.. the subject matter is handled rationally most of the time by posters even if you have a stray hysteric here or there.
The MSM will have to look elsewhere for their big scoop.

I know!
I couldn't help but laugh aloud when I saw that on the news.
Then ponder just how long it took the guy to:

1. Think up the scenerio
2. Get up the cojones to pull it off

That takes some big brass ones.
Not excusing the crime... but it is amazing that he got away.

Oh yea I remember SkinRipper. I would think all sites - GLP, My Space, Facebook, Twitter, etc will from time to time get this type of member. I have been here since May and think I can recall maybe 3 - considering how many people are on the net I think 3 is a low number.

If they point the finger at ATS they are pointing it at other sites as well, I wouldn't worry. Besides don't they have a lot of other stuff to think about?

You know what, you idjuts would do so much better than to attempt to be superior to others and actually state what you think.

But of course that is not the tendency of people that want to manipulate others. Do you actually believe you are more intelligent than other people?

Just because people discuss crazy stuff and get their ideas out there, do you actually think you can understand the depth of the intelligence of folks here by just reading a couple threads? Wow, the proof is in the puddin my dear. Elitist attitude all the way. By the way, I am a GRUMPY ass type-

Grumpy people are higher on the evolutionary scale

By the way, you have to read about 125 threads to understand someone's basic ideas or beliefs. Otherwise you just make an ass out of yourself.

The real question is: did he do the breathing thing and change his voice to demand the money?? If Id have been a teller there while the robbery happened and that occurred.. Id have been laughing too hysterically to push the silent alarm panic button thingy.

Right?
What were the customers thinking, is what I would like to know...
I just remember the basic story, not the bits and pieces...
If I had been a customer, I would have cracked up laughing.

Seriously, if someone walked into any place of business dressed like that,
what would you think?
