Nahhh offer them grits and fried salt pork or a pork chop.. that was my breakfast of champions as a child. Now you KNOW whats wrong with me... clogged vessels and arteries to the brain. Im older and still wear a size 5 but my cholesterol test results made my Dr faint. I just say Im southern and not white doc.. your high is my normal and Im NOT taking Lipitor .

Thats another odd thing I found with the British we'd met and stayed with.. they get OLD and stay pretty healthy. Food or genetics.... lack of freaking sunlight in the winter months.. who knows. We went on a sight seeing deal with a local and I swear.. OLD/ancient people walking around town and doing seemingly well! I plan on being sick and ready to die when I get old. It seems as an American I have no choice.
The most healthy folks Ive seen over our travels and things were in Asia. I mean you cant even judge the age of these folks and they are working and look pretty chipper! Now ** IM** going to be the American basher : at no time in any other country did I see people too fat or lazy to walk in a store so they ride a cart like I have in walmart right here in America.

I would eat that pancake on the left hand side of the picture, and tuck in to the scrambled eggs on the right-hand side...

Why would a Brit reject this offering ?

Oh man ! I am on the way to Perkins right now. I am slobbering
all over myself looking at all those yummies. mmmmmmmmmm

Damn right !

British cuisine suffers a terrible reputation, despite the fact that we have our own culinary ''standards''...

Mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, cornflakes and milk...

to be honest from what I've seen its the other way around I have heard alot of countries dispariged here in britain and america is certainly one of them.

When I've pressed most people they have admitted its isn't americans in general they hate but its goverment and those americans that fit the american steryotype (fat, loud, stupid, ignorant and patriotic.)

personaly I'm brit/american dual nationality and I dislike like both countries

Persians? Yep.. never had an issue in ANY contact with them. In Turkey it was fine... social issues and governmental issues.. but contact between us and locals personally? Perfect.

America was founded by British Citizens. Much of the ideas the Founders espoused were grounded in the English system of government and the writings of Englishmen like John Locke and David Hume. Many Americans at the time had family, title and properties in England. My ancestors came here on the Mayflower, while others came later from Ireland and Scotland. A good number of us share this in common.
We share a common language; yes, I reali(z)e there are differences. Yes, we fought a few times, sometimes against each other, but I think we're good friends now. Most Americans agree, I think.

As far as individual Brits go, or any individual of any nationality for that matter — If you love liberty, Justice and Peace then you're a friend to me.

oh come on! There has been a notorious mutual disliking between the Irish and the English for hundreds of years. Just look at the plantations, fighting etc that has occurred, of course some bad feeling would be left behind.

LOL.

That was hundreds of years ago !

You never suffered from toiling in the plantations, so why are you bringing it up again ?!

Talk about clinging on to the coat-tails of others !

Yeah lots of Irish guys support premiership football teams, its a sport, im not a fan of football but isnt the premiership teams considered the best, with the best players from all over the world and with international owners and managers?

So why don't these Irish guys support their local teams ?

Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne... The list of Dublin clubs goes on...

Yes, the Premiership is considered to be the best league, along with La Liga ( the Spanish league ), in terms of quality, so why are these cowards in Ireland ''supporting'' the English teams ?

Talk about being unpatriotic !

If I was Irish - which I'm not - then I'd make a point of supporting my local football team, rather than one I'd seen on English telly.

LOL.

You know the score, Lady T !

But, if you inform these knuckle-draggers in Ireland, that the team that they claim to support is English, then I doubt that they'll change their modus operandi...

Well, at least our two nations are getting along much better these days :-)

Just as long as we support the same football teams in our countries !...

Pretty sure the only serious example of American hatred for brits is over Xbox live.
And that's because they have poop connection which makes all xbox livers rage.

And ATS motto is deny ignorance so i don't think using the only example - xbox live - as any evidence that Americans hate brits.

Whaaaa....???

I thought everbody was supposed to hate us Americans?

I've never heard of anybody "hating" a Brit, much less myself.

The only Brit-bashing I can recall was that between other Brits, namely Caucasian Brits and those of Middle Eastern descent, and the derogatory remarks weren't even made on ATS.

The only thing I can recall between Americans and Brits on ATS is Brits calling Americans "Yanks" or something like that. I always figured it was either from "Yankee" or "Wanker" or a combination of both. I assume wanker means a dude's private parts, so I figured we were just being called d*cks or something. Not to be confused with the British dish called "spotted dick"....which sounds more like a venereal disease than a dessert you're suppose to eat.

Regardless, I've always viewed the UK same as us except on another continent.
I've always figured there were way more Brits that didn't like Americans than the other way around.

That all depends on how deep in the hills they are from.
Deep enough and they share the family tooth if somebody has a hot date.

I was in Arkansas doing some work a few years ago. I was having a
cold beer in a bar one evening. A young man went up to the woman
sitting two seats from me and he said real sly like: "nice tooth you have there".
True...

Why won't Brits eat pancakes?!?
That picture is like the breakfast of the gods and the pancakes are IHOP manna from heaven.

Beans for breakfast?
Only if they're pinto beans in my breakfast taco....along with a handful of jalapenos...YUMMY

I'm a simple gal though, just gimme some grits with a side of bacon and a runny fried egg, mix it all up together & eat it with some Texas toast......just add some Tabasco and OH MAH GAH.., that is like a breakfast orgasm
