I agree that the shooter wasn't influenced by Palin...

Perhaps he was influenced by this favorite Right Wing Conservative catch phrase...

"The Tree of Liberty needs to be watered with the Blood of Tyrants"

Who makes that decision?

edit on 9-1-2011 by whaaa because: (no reason given)

I think he was a very ill confused young man, who needed help, and fell through the cracks and this is the result, sadly, it is not as easy as people think to get someone committed.

So if you are ok with her having the right to say she wants? You don't feel the need to have what she says, "changed"?
My bad. I thought you wanted her to change what she said. I thought you wanted her to change how she said things.

We are in agreement.
*cheers*

Last night I was channel surfing to get a take on how the MSN was conveying the information on the shooting. Keith Olbermann's long diatribe began to irritate me, so I moved on to Fox and found Geraldo Rivera's comments to be rather predictive of how the tragedy may effect Sarah Palin's political clout in the future. He thinks her popularity will wane considerably because the militant/gun toting platform that Palin represents will grow increasingly unpopular. All of those who love her will continue to love her and all of those who hate her will probably hate her more.

I think he was influenced by the moon.

Curse you Moon! You may protect us from asteroids and provide tides. . . . . .

Sorry, little levity.

Personally I am not willing to pigpile anyone because that's what the group is doing - whatever group it is and whoever is getting pigpiled.

This is why I have no friends I guess.

I lost a real life friend over this. I just insist that Jared Lee is crazy and that crazy is just crazy.
I don't think because something horrid happens it even has to be put into a political context, even when their are politicians involved.

I think there's a revolution coming and they are all just using this to further their own agendas - liberals want rid of the tea party, MSM wants to encourage people to be civil, so that when TSHTF we are all like "Let's be civil now, let's be civil."

Let's all DO be civil. Let's don't pigpile. Let the justice system & the medical system do it's thing - get this guy a forensic evaluation, and take care of who we can that it is possible to save yet.

OH PLEASE..........like you care!

With all the defense of Palin and other right wing conservatives mouthpieces: I wonder how many conservative members here at ATS secretly wish that the shooter had of aimed better and finished off that Democrat/lib/progressive. Plenty I'll wager! "The tree of liberty needs to be watered with the blood of tyrants" edit on 9-1-2011 by whaaa because: (no reason given)

You sound REALLY concerned Waaa

You guys wasted NO time making this into a political statement at the expense of said nine year old and 5 others...

I agree. Poor form.

It's too easy to distance oneself from the harsh reality. People have senselessly died. It's our responsibility as a civilized society to respect their deaths and to condemn the criminal actions of the one responsible.

No, we are not. I do not want what anyone says changed. I do want them to change it, yes. I am asking that perhaps people like Sharon Angle not suggest that people kill people if elections do not go there way. I am not suggesting anyone change it for her. I am suggesting she be a grownup and realize that suggesting murder in politics is not very responsible.

You don't know me and you don't know how I feel about this tragedy.
Especially since one of the wounded is a relative of mine. Thankfully it was very minor!

Really? Is that why youre making a joke of it in that post?????

If you were so concerned with it, then you would knock off this partisan CRAP and focus on the real issues.....and the well beings of the families.....

but i dont see you doing that.........so i doubt your claim

I'm sorry to hear this struck so close to home.

It's also good to hear your relative will be ok.

Thank you! It wasn't a result of the actual shooting but of the pandemonium that ensued after the shots were fired.

You need to learn some history about Obama's friends from Chicago before you start your smears on Palin who never called for the murder of anyone.

Actually she called for the murder of Julian Assange.

now that shes taken it down, she knows its in bad taste...so will she be making a public apology to the families of the people who were murdered? or is taking down the quote the extent of it?
