Yes he was tackled by two guys as he attempted to reload his gun. It could've been way worse if it wasn't for those brave men. I think his plan was to commit suicide in the end after killing as many as he could.

That's just really poor planning,... yet another sign of an unstable mind. He should have saved his bullets for the targeted victim(s) and himself instead of firing into the crowd like a wild man.

You know what that reminds me of? Kip Kinkel, the boy who went on a rampage at Thurston High, had taped bullets to his chest to make sure he had enough ammo to kill himself, but he was also tackled and failed to commit suicide in the end.

There is a town just across the border, a straight shot south of Tuscon, called Heroica Nogales. Could this be the HN?

I've pretty much given up hope of finding which rookery this bird came from. There are at least 5 or 6 different possible origins that involve hatches from asteroids. The theory that Giffords husband worked for Nasa and might have known what was going on is pure coincidence. That bird looks nasty and I don't think we should be messing with it here on ATS. Might be considered taboo like stealing mothers milk to mix a bar drink or something.

Also, I too believe the account erad3 might be the shooter. The screen name chosen lends credence to this theory. One, minus the J, all the other letters of his first name are used. Two, read backwards, it reads triple dare.

The bird is not real he's talking metaphorically It makes sense when you watch the video in reverse like he says to. The bird he is describing is the phoenix which is born out of the ashes which is what happens to the flag when you watch it in reverse. There is nothing about his parents yet,have you noticed that? I would think they would be the key to this guy more then himself.Why arent you people looking up his family????

Yet another case of poor planning. It's just further proof that these people who go on killing rampages are mentally unstable. Did both these guys really think people would just allow themselves to be mowed down by them? Did both these ingrates actually believe that nobody would try to stop them? As they were planning it in their heads, they probably imagined they'd just be able to stand there without any confrontation, with time enough to change magazines. Sometimes I'm grateful for how stupid they are, because if they were smarter, so many more people could have died.

A very interesting thread, even more so considering it seems he was a poster here. Having read some of his posts and the messages on the youtube vids I think in his mind he has developed or is using his own version of language.
One of the first things I noticed is that he always seems to follow the same structure when he writes, almost like he has created rules for his language which he is rigidly following. It comes across rather like one of those artificial intelligence programmes where you can type in a sentence or ask a question and a seemingly intelligent response is given.

I think this view is backed up by his own comments regarding the structure of grammar and not using an imposed structure from the goverment. What does this mean? Not sure really.

I also wonder, where he refers to only having his right arm, could this be a reference to a trusted associate, perhaps the same person now wanted in connection with the shootings?

Here is a picture of the guy they say may have been with Jared, maybe he's actually the guy trying to shoot Jared? there is a report about somebody shooting back (i'll search again for it) If so this would confirm the MKultra type theory.

I would agree with this. Sounds like tripping. I just finished Dr. Strassburgs "The Spirit Molecule" where he tripped people on '___' and there were common themes to some trips. As in clowns, or little green men. He broke the trips down by type - even alien abduction types.
This young man, I think was not so special. He is of the age where schizophrenia develops in its full blown tragic wonder. He had problems at college. There are too many witnesses to his behavior pattern.

Now Bradley Manning . . . that seems more like a plant.
This guy, just a raged out mentally ill young man.

I have been reading the posts on ATS for a while before I decided to join. I am honored to be on this forum.

There is something not right with this story. To just make a lazy blanket statement such as "he is nuts" doesn't wash. This guy is as like minded as most of us on here. Maybe he figured something out and is trying to tell us. I am sure he knew that he wasn't going to get away with it. I don't think he was going to kill himself. It just doesn't fit.

Of course the media is going to label him a fruit loop. Heaven forbid Americans started thinking for themselves. Could you imagine the backlash? If you read what he has written, it is very Orwellian. Think 1984. "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows." When you are educated over and over that 2 plus 2 =5, anyone that tells you any different is going to be a threat.

Is it possible that he saw no way to repair our civilization without violence?

Like? That's what this thread IS. Not to criticize anyone who might actually think he was sane, but he was almost definitely schizophrenic, or brainwashed, if you want to believe there's a conspiracy here.

Why shouldn't we try to explain or decode his actions? Are you saying that just because he was schizophrenic that he's nuts, and that's the end of the story? I mean, whatever he said and did certainly seemed to make sense to him, and he's clearly got some kind of mental reasoning going on. He was politically motivated, and trying to send some kind of a message to people. It's important to try and figure out what's going on here so people can identify these symptoms in the future and try and get those who have serious mental problems help BEFORE they go and try to kill a bunch of people.

The Phoenix-Theory is the best one. But the connection to NASA is missing. Perhaps someone wrote it already, but I had not enough time to read the last 10 pages completely. The Pheonix could also be a Shuttle, he mentions in another thread: All aboard with the empty NASA Space Shuttles!

This is definitely a symptom of a broken sick society. I do not agree at all with what this man did but I could sense in him an urgency, he was stressed severely. Somewhere I read he was in the miltary, maybe he knows some inside information.
The fact that senator Wheeler was found dead recently and this is not very strange. I am not saying the two are connected but it is a further symptom of people's discontent with their own government. This also shows you how corrupt our government really is.

This person WAS NOT ACCEPTED into US Military service. Also I read that he was kicked out of Community College and was not allowed re-admit until he went through a psych eval. This was a crazy rambling young man. Sometimes people just go nuts. I worked years ago at a long term care facility for mentally ill adolecents. Our oldest patients were the schizophrenics that had lead normal lives until they suddenly collapsed into mental illness. If you listened to them, the elaborate length of their delusions - it would stun you how complex they are. They weren't just a little off, they had a whole advanced theory - as if they had created a life for themselves out of books, movies, old family history . . . they remembered the details too, and would build upon them. I will never forget my experience around these particular patients.

It is really hard to know what the truth is here. I believe this has something to do with the discontentment in society right now.
What about senator Wheeler being killed don't you think it is odd so close together.

Tying this back to the OP's theory about NASA, Meteors, Aliens, this bird was used in the movie "The Fourth Kind", which was about ancient Aliens, and the Owl was a recurring theme. The Owl is also a well known Illuminati symbol.

They just announced on the news that they have his cell phone and computer, and are going through it to check out all websites that he may have visited, and those who may have talked to him.

We may know soon, for sure.

The member's profile states he's now banned, they must have done that this morning. I didn't read all his threads, but he didn't sound like he was violent, or even angry. He just talked in circles, managing to confuse those who talked to him.
