Does that mean that if my satellite dish point at an azimuth of 200 degrees that that would now change if a shift took place even though my signal was not affected?

I am not going to get into this because 1) I don't know enough to go toe-to-toe with anyone and 2) It's too controversial and non-conventional and I'm already dodging the insult bullets (based on this thread) as is.

They just are covering their butts, for the inevitable "NIMBY" complaints. Airliners are noisier, usually, than smaller airplanes...and noisier on takeoffs than landings, generally too.
The north magnetic pole (NMP) has been drifting in a north-northwesterly direction since the 19th century. Both local surveys and geomagnetic models derived from observatory and satellite data show that the NMP suddenly accelerated during the 1990s. Its speed increased from about 15 km/yr in 1989 to about 60 km/yr in 2002, after which it started to decrease slightly. Using a Green's function, we show that this acceleration is mainly caused by a large, negative secular variation change in the radial magnetic field at the core surface, under the New Siberian Islands. This change occurs in a region of the core surface where there is a pair of secular variation patches of opposite polarities, which we suggest could be the signature of a so-called “polar magnetic upwelling” of the type observed in some recent numerical dynamo simulations. Indeed, a local analysis of the radial secular variation and magnetic field gradient suggests that the secular variation change under the New Siberian Islands is likely to be accompanied by a significant amount of magnetic diffusion, in agreement with such a mechanism. We thus hypothesize that the negative secular variation change under the New Siberian Islands that produced the NMP acceleration could result from a slowdown of the polar magnetic upwelling during the 1990s. We finally note that the NMP drift speed is determined by such a combination of factors that it is at present not possible to forecast its future evolution.

Shift of Earth's Magnetic North Pole Impacts Tampa Airport
www.sott.net
(visit the link for the full news article)
TAMPA - Scientists say the magnetic north pole is moving toward Russia and the fallout has reached -- of all places -- Tampa International Airport.
The airport has closed its primary runway until Jan. 13 to repaint the numeric designators at each end and change taxiway signage to account for the shift in location of the Earth's magnetic north.

Threads like this really make me despair for the sensibility of people.
The pole moves all the time. Literally. It is not "accelerating", as in "oh my God, it's out of control!" it's just moving faster than it did -- it's not continual acceleration.
Why? Who knows. Is this unusual, or typical? Who knows, we haven't been accurately tracking magnetic North for but a few hundred years.
Seriously, stop the fear mongering, take ten minutes to study the basic concepts involved and use your frickin' brain. God gave you one for a reason, use it.
"But the breach itself is not the biggest surprise. Researchers are even more amazed at the strange and unexpected way it forms, overturning long-held ideas of space physics."

"What we're seeing is a long term trend, a steady decrease in pressure that began sometime in the mid-1990s," explains Arik Posner, NASA's Ulysses Program Scientist in Washington DC.
How unusual is this event?
"It's hard to say. We've only been monitoring solar wind since the early years of the Space Age—from the early 60s to the present," says Posner. "Over that period of time, it's unique. How the event stands out over centuries or millennia, however, is anybody's guess. We don't have data going back that far."
"The solar wind isn't inflating the heliosphere as much as it used to," says McComas. "That means less shielding against cosmic rays."

If the motto to this forum is deny ignorance and people are calling you out for making ignorant statements then you need to be more self critical. I'm new here and find your posts interesting, they'd be even more interesting if you had a stronger factual basis so people could asses your ideas better instead of pointing out the flaws in your thought process. Get a thicker skin and we'll all benefit.

The core is pivotal to everything. The core is what science thinks is gravity. The core is what's keeping us earthbound and animals on track. Not gravity.
That's why you can't stand on the Moon. There's no core (most likely artificial). It's not that it lacks gravity. And as soon as we ALL figure that out, the sooner we can graduate from this galactic kindergarten classroom.

I suspect the reason Tampa's airport is affected more than other locations might be due to its proximity to the North Atlantic Anomaly.
What is the North Atlantic anomaly? (and here I thought I heard it all)
The South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) refers to the area where the Earth's inner Van Allen radiation belt comes closest to the Earth's surface. This leads to an increased flux of energetic particles in this region and exposes orbiting satellites to higher than usual levels of radiation. The effect is caused by the non-concentricity of the Earth and its magnetic dipole, and the SAA is the near-Earth region where the Earth's magnetic field is weakest.

So lets agree here, maybe not on what is happening but on 3 things:
1. They don't tell us everything, or they do and they are wrong - like the earth is flat and ulcers are caused by stress. Later there are advancements and they understand and they usually don't deliever the apology letter in the mail to those that questioned the orignal story - actually they used to burn people at the stake for not aggreeing with the current model of belief. This is HISTORY.
2. Stuff is dying we might want to get a little concerned about like bee's, which can effect pollenation, which can affect food supply. Even if it is a virus, or a mutation, or from genetically engineered corn, or too many cell phone towers. OR POLE SHIFTY WOBBLY THINGS, we might want to figure out WHY. This is where it can turn to BS if studies are corrupt or are paid for by those that have a vested, vested interest in keeping it hushed up.
3. Chicken little? This site is harmless really, you can choose to go to other threads on here - I stay out of whole topic areas because I just don't want to get involved. If you want to really talk about chicken little and fear mongering lets talk about guys, like um . . . Glen Beck a guy who reaches millions of people everyday with fear mongering, or lets go to the airport and watch TSA in action. This is just one thread on a CONSPIRACY WEBSITE. Don't you get it?
