Israel's army chief told a US Congress delegation in late 2009 he was preparing for a large war in the Middle East, probably against Hamas or Hezbollah, leaked US diplomatic cables showed on Sunday. "I am preparing the Israeli army for a large scale war, since it is easier to scale down to a smaller operation than to do the opposite," Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi was quoted as saying in a cable from the US embassy in Tel Aviv. The document, dated November 15, 2009, was quoted Sunday in Norwegian by Oslo-based daily Aftenposten, which said it had obtained WikiLeaks' entire cache of 251,187 leaked US embassy cables.

"The rocket threat against Israel is more serious than ever. That is why Israel is putting such emphasis on rocket defence," Ashkenazi told the US delegation led by Democrat Ike Skelton, the cable showed.

The army chief lamented that Iran has some 300 Shihab rockets that can reach Israel and stressed that the Jewish state would have only between 10 and 12 minutes warning in case of an attack.

This unpleasant looking personality is the zionist army chief of staff, Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi

It seems the Israelis are booking for a new "war" against those it occupies and those it routinely invades. After its defeat in the 2006 attempted invasion of the Lebanon by Hisbullah, Israel is looking for round two.

If you recall the 30 day bombardment of the Lebanon by Israel, 5000 Hisbullah fights blocked 40,000 Israeli soldiers from flooding into the Lebanon and annexing the Litani River, the real objective of the war. Israel was after stealing the water resources of southern Lebanon.

Hisbullah has never invaded Israel and has only used missiles when the Israeli airforce harassed Lebanese citizens in their homes and while driving on Lebanese roads. Hamas, another target of the zoinist state are the lawfully elected government of the Palestinian people. When Israel uses Hamas as an excuse, many Palestinian civilians die. These dead civilians always include children killed by Israeli snipers for some strange reason.

This odd looking rock is a remote camera and laser assembly planted by Israeli spies on a hill over looking Beirut. No doubt it was a laser targeting guidance system and much butchery was being planned. Israelis use this lasers to guide in aircraft bombs and missiles onto buildings and people.

A booby trapped spy stash discovered in the Lebanon containing communications equipment.

Some of the found zionist equipment still had their labels and tags on them.

Israel wants to dismember the Lebanon. It wants more land and Israel is after the Lebanese southern river system and water table.

Let us not forget that it was Hezbullah that shelled Israel, and started a confrontation. But we don't wanna talk about that now do we? Protecting ones borders is acceptable.

Allow me to demonstrate a timeline for ya:

1982: Israel invades Lebanon to drive out the PLO’s terrorist army, which had frequently attacked Israel from its informal "state-within-a-state" in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah, a Shiite group inspired by the teachings and revolution of Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini, is created with the assistance of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. The group is called Hezbollah–or "party of God"– after initially taking responsibility for attacks under the name "Islamic Jihad." (Not to be confused with the Palestinian terror organization Islamic Jihad.)

July 19, 1982: The president of the American University in Beirut, Davis S. Dodge, is kidnapped. Hezbollah is believed to be behind this and most of the 30 other kidnappings of Westerners over the next ten years. April 18,

1983: Hezbollah attacks the U.S. embassy in Beirut with a car bomb, killing 63 people, 17 of whom were American citizens. Oct. 23, 1983: Hezbollah attacks U.S. Marine barracks with a truck bomb, killing 241 American military personnel stationed in Beirut as part of a peace-keeping force. A separate attack against the French military compound in Beirut kills 58.

Sept. 20, 1984: The group attacks the U.S. embassy annex in Beirut with a car bomb, killing 2 Americans and 22 others.

March 16, 1984: William F. Buckley, a CIA operative working at the U.S. embassy in Beirut, is kidnapped and later murdered.

April 12, 1984: Hezbollah attacks a restaurant near the U.S. Air Force Base in Torrejon, Spain. The bombing kills eighteen U.S. servicemen and injures 83 people.

Dec. 4, 1984: Hezbollah terrorists hijack a Kuwait Airlines plane. Four passengers are murdered, including two Americans.

Feb. 16, 1985: Hezbollah publicizes its manifesto. It notes that the group's struggle will continue until Israel is destroyed and rejects any cease-fire or peace treaty with Israel. The document also attacks the U.S. and France.

June 14, 1985: Hezbollah terrorists hijack TWA flight 847. The hijackers severely beat Passenger Robert Stethem, a U.S. Navy diver, before killing him and dumping his body onto the tarmac at the Beirut airport. Other passengers are held as hostages before being released on June 30.

Dec. 31, 1986: Under the alias Organization of the Oppressed on Earth, Hezbollah announces it had kidnapped and murdered three Lebanese Jews. The organization previously had taken responsibility for killing four other Jews since 1984.

Feb. 17, 1988: The group kidnaps Col. William Higgins, a U.S. Marine serving with a United Nations truce monitoring group in Lebanon, and later murders him.

Oct. 22, 1989: Members of the dissolved Lebanese parliament ratify the Taif Agreement. Although the agreement calls for the "disbanding of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias," Hezbollah remains active.

Feb. 16, 1992: Sayyad Hassan Nasrallah takes over Hezbollah after Israel kills the group’s leader, Abbas Musawi.

March 17, 1992: With the help of Iranian intelligence, Hezbollah bombs the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, killing 29 and injuring over 200.

July 18, 1994: Hezbollah bombs the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires–again with Iranian help–killing 86 and injuring over 200.

Nov. 28, 1995: Hezbollah bombards towns in northern Israel with volleys of Katyusha rockets in one of the group's numerous attacks on Israeli civilians.

March 30, 1996: Hezbollah fires 28 Katyusha rockets into northern Israeli towns. A week later, the group fires 16 rockets, injuring 36 Israelis. Israel responds with a major offensive, known as the "Grapes of Wrath" operation, to stop Hezbollah rocket fire

. Aug. 19, 1997: Hezbollah opens fire on northern Israel with dozens of rockets in one of the group's numerous attacks on Israeli civilians.

October 1997: The United States lists Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

Dec. 28, 1998: Hezbollah opens fire on northern Israel with dozens of rockets in one of the group's numerous attacks on Israeli civilians.

May 17, 1999: Hezbollah opens fire on northern Israel with dozens of rockets in one of the group's numerous attacks on Israeli civilians.

June 24, 1999: Hezbollah opens fire on northern Israel, killing 2.

May 23, 2000: Israel withdraws all troops from Lebanon after 18 years patrolling the "security zone," a strip of land in the south of the country. The security zone was set up to prevent attacks on northern Israel.

June 2000: United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan certifies Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon. Shortly thereafter, the U.N. Security Council endorses Annan’s report. Hezbollah nonetheless alleges Israel occupies Lebanon, claiming the small Sheba Farms area Israel captured from Syria during the 1967 war as Lebanese territory.

Oct. 7, 2000: Hezbollah attacks an Israel military post and raids Israel, kidnapping three Israeli soldiers. In mid-October, Hezbollah leader Nasrallah announces the group has also kidnapped an Israeli civilian, former Colonel, Elchanan Tannenbaum. In January 2004, Israel frees over 400 Arab prisoners in exchange for Tannenbaum and the soldiers. The soldiers were dead, a fact not made known to Israel until the exchange took place. Tannenbaum, a former IDF officer, had been kidnapped while attempting to cement a drug deal. Israel wanted him back in order to ascertain whether or not he had given his captors any military secrets.

March 1, 2001: The British government adds Hezbollah’s "military wing" to its list of outlawed terrorist organizations. April 9, 2002: Hezbollah launches Katyusha rockets into northern Israeli town. This assault comes amidst almost daily Hezbollah attacks against Israeli troops in Sheba farms.

Dec. 11, 2002: Canada lists Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

Aug. 10, 2003: Hezbollah shells kills 16-year-old Israeli boy, wound others.

June 5, 2003: Australia lists Hezbollah’s "military wing" as a terrorist organization.

Sept. 2, 2004: United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559 calls for "the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias," a reference to Hezbollah. December 2004: Both the United States and France ban Hezbollah’s satellite television network, Al Manar. A U.S. State Department spokesman notes the channel "preaches violence and hatred."

March 10, 2005: The European Parliament overwhelmingly passes a resolution stating: "Parliament considers that clear evidence exists of terrorist activities by Hezbollah. The (EU) Council should take all necessary steps to curtail them." The European Union nonetheless refrains from placing the group on its list of terror organizations.

July 12, 2006: Hezbollah attacks Israel with Katyushas, crosses the border and kidnaps two Israeli soldiers. Three Israeli soldiers are killed in the initial attack. Five more soldiers are killed as Israel launches operation to rescue the soldiers and push Hezbollah from its border. Hezbollah launches rockets into towns across northern Israel.

Would seem that Hezbollah, isn't some peaceful group. Furthermore, the above timeline suggests that Israel isn't the " evil doers" your article is trying to depict.

Actually the information you provide is a distortion. The bigger beast in that park is Israel and has been the hostile party for decades. People don't go around tweaking the nose of a bully but you sure as hell dig you heels in when the bully comes a knocking. Hisbullah always retaliates when Israel does something terrible to the people of the Lebanon.

So why are you posting a list with only half the story? Are you some kind of zionist apologist?

It was a simple brief time line history. According to T & C rules, ones quotes have to be limited. I would have thought you could have figured that out? Apparently I was wrong.

Ignorance is bliss for some~

And the info I supplied is a distortion? Care to prove that theory? Facts? Proof? Have any?

I totally agree. You cannot argue with the facts. The OP's argument is very opionated. I am not sure what they have against the Jewish state but as you point out. Isreal has been defending itself for years. If someone was trying to break into my house or line up missles aimed at my property... Damm right I would defend myself! Anyone who says different is flat-out lying!

But for some, Facts fall on deaf ears. They would rather buy into the " kool aid " and the disinformation that the local MSM places before them, never fully realizing that they too have bought into the propaganda. Then come here to ATS, and try to " sell " their opinion, which mind you is based off of emotion, and no real logic, nor any true understanding. And yet their argument has no merit, because those who wish to believe Israel are the " evil doers" don't wish to submit any Fact to substantiate their claims? Naivety at it finest~

You simply listed claims against one side and called it a "simple historical time line". You damned yourself with your own unrealistic distortion.

Don't blame the T & C rules. They do not insist on historical distortions.

Worse than ignorance is the peddling of lies.

Please refrain from the ad hominem, it is a T & C Violation.

I posted this in another thread earlier, but it seems relevant here:

You do realise that a lot of the areas of Palestine were actually claimed by Israel because of Israeli terrorism, right? I know off the top of my head of at least 2 Israeli prime ministers who were leaders of Irgun, a zionist terrorist organisation. At the time Menachem Begin was leader of Irgun, his organisation bombed the King David Hotel- in 1946- and killed 90 odd innocent people. Also, look up David Ben-Gurion- both of these men were leaders of terrorist organisations and lead Israel afterwards. The whole thing is so hypocritical.

Israel even celebrated the bombing of the hotel not long ago and made a plaque commemorating the Irgun for them:
www.telegraph.co.uk...

If you research how Israel spread beyond the original area which was allocated to it by the U.N, you'll see various atrocities on their behalf, such as the Deir Yassin massacre. Yes, Palestinians are guilty too- but Zionists are a LONG way from being perfect like some seem to believe.

Would you care to submit information for the contrary? Instead of trying to defend your side of the debate based off emotion, care to submit Proof or facts that would suggest Israel are killmongers? Anything that would substantiate your claim?

Do you even know what Zionism is? Here let me help:

a policy for establishing and developing a national homeland for Jews

Whats so bad wanting to establish a homeland?

Shame this homeland is on someone else's land. Establishing a home in someone's property is called squatting and violence is used it is a home invasion.

THIS IS WHAT ISRAEL DOES TO THE PEOPLE OF LEBANON
I think the following substantiates my claims

Bombing of Beirut residential areas by Israel. With Israel, it is always kill, kill, kill.

One of many devasted residential areas in the Lebanon, a post apocalyptic scene and people wonder why Israel harvests enemies for the US

Israeli airforce attacked people on the road escaping the devastated areas in-case "terrorists" were getting away.

Israel attacked the environment.

*snip* Mod Edit: Removed picture due to overly graphic nature of the photo...
Israel attacked the children of the Lebanon because the children are the future.
Notice there is no half a$$ed list here, just the awful truth.

I'll give you credit for the photos. But wouldn't that also suggest one side of the story? With your photos do you have any evidence that would suggest the reasoning behind these alleged attacks? Where they in response to an attack committed by the treasonous Hezbollah? Where they attacked by a different faction? These are things that are per tenant to your argument. Showing video/photos still, as you claim, only show one side of the argument.

I don't see Israel just waking up one morning and saying, " ya know, I feel like blowing up Lebanon today'! It is well documented FACT that Lebanon has been the homeland to extreme terrorists known through out the world.

Lebanon has taken credit for hundreds of lives taken in the name of terrorism.. Forget the 1980's hi jacks that were prevalent during those years? Guess who took credit for those as well. ( most of them anyways ).

This is why you are an Israeli apologist. You fail to see a fascist state and its application of power. As I said before, Israel is after the Lebanese southern water table. To invade the Lebanon, Israel used casus belli/reason for war to invade. Israel conducted a series of provocative acts on the Lebanese including assassinations and when the Lebanese reacted it made the list you peddled and attempted to invade. Hisbullah stood in the way.

You do not know how I have my computer set up, or how viewable my screen is to other people in the room, the fact is you should not be posting snuff pictures, especially of children, on a website such as this without a warning.

I took the large photo off. The pictures are not snuff images but evidence of war crimes. While I don't know the configuration of your household, you brought up your household for debate as a mode of passive, aggressive control over others.

You are infact using the apparent presence and sensitives of your child to accuse wrongness of others when they are making a point you don't like.

I also know the general configuration of computers and how screens are positioned. Unless you have your child is hanging over your shoulder while you are surfing the net, the only way he would have seen the images on the screen while you are in front of it would be by drawing his attention to it.

Read my other post earlier in this thread, look at the Irgun's actions in the 30s and 40s. Israel was founded on the back of terrorism- several instances of which the Irgun admitted, and on occasions have been rewarded by Israel in the recent past. Here's a list of just a few Israeli crimes over the years:

The Sergeant Affair whereby Irgun kidnapped 2 British soldiers and threatened to kill them unless Britain released 2 of their own members who were arrested and found guilty of several crimes including owning fire-arms illegally and intending to use them to kill. The 2 militants were given the death penalty, so the hostages were killed.

The Lavon affair, a false flag operation in Egypt where Egyptian Jews were ordered to bomb U.S and British embassies and blame Muslims and locals, this in order to weaken Arab-western relations. Israel only admitted to this recently when they gave certificates to those that carried out these actions, congratulating them.

Deir Yassin massacre, carried out by Irgun, who were lead at the time by a future prime minister.

The Semiramis Hotel bombing, carried out by Hanagah, another Zionist militant organisation- 25 people died, including a child.

The King David Hotel bombing, caried out by the Irgun, who at that time were under the leadership of a future prime minister, 90+ died. The Irguts actions were celebrated and commemorated by Israel in 2004.

Baron Moyne's assassination by Zionist militant group Lehi. He was a British minister

Folke Bernadotte assassination by the same organisation. His assassination was approved by future prime minister Yitzhak Yezernitsky- this despite the fact that he negotiated the release of thousands of Jews during the holocaust.

These are just a few examples.

I do not dispute that Palestinians have also carried out some dispicable acts, of course that is true. However, you cannot place the blame solely on them. The thing is, all of these Israeli groups I mention call themselves "freedom fighters", and say they are not terrorists- of course, the only reason they can claim that is because they are the victors. There is no difference between the two sides.
