Makes total sense, but what bothers me is this sudden ice age that is happening, all over the world, we are hearing worst blizzard in 10 years,i too live on the border. A/W on the murray and for the lake to fill up so fast is amazing.

The Ice age will come even if humans were not even present on this earth and causing all sorts of environmental degradation. All of the ocean currents worldwide are slowing down, like the gulf stream has slowed down more than 80 % of its original speed. This is what i have been talking about on my thread but nobody is listening.

Humans are Accelerating themselves towards an Ice Age.

I wouldn't be too concerned...

I am reliably informed there is a 100% chance of Global warming in the next century.

That's why we are paying more for Carbon Emissions.

Shhhh please don't contradict the scientists.

well don't hold back if you have a reliable source that can prove us wrong by all means post it, otherwise we'll have to consider him another armchair expert that has no idea on what is going on in the real world

I agree, it is really odd that we had snow this year, but i guess that would be credited to global warming, flooding, heavy rain, winds, hot mornings that's all la nina, but the snow, it is pretty rare in that certain area, and i think that is indeed the sign of global warming taking a hit.

I would be niave to ignore it and say, hey it snows in ACT and what not, but i know in VIC it's a diffrent story.

especially 15cm of snow in a region that's normally sitting at 30 degrees this time of year

Well everyones is thinking it... I am just saying it. I am sure by now been winter on your side of the world that you all know how serious this last winter is. I mean england is freezing over and well america you are next...

Well i live in Australia and i must say considering it's summer we are not getting the summer conditions we normally do... the western half of our country is getting the hot hot summers but the eastern half is freezing over.

We've got floods in QLD/NSW/VIC and SA the driest state has now had so much water that the mighty murray river which was bone dry on their end is now free flowing to the ocean...

To top it off we have also had snow in the apline regions and snow in hobart.. Now to me this is highly unusual... and if this is summer how is winter going to be next year? !!!

will this trend continue until 2012 when the full ice age sets in? or is this just a one off event or La nina as "experts" are calling it

We have had ice ages a few other times in past history. Mankind somehow manages to survive. Personally I would rather get through a ice age rather then a global heat age. Ever wonder if what is happening is earths way of slowing down and slendering down the earth ravaging creatures (

I'm in NJ, I didn't go to work today, this morning the door was blocked with snow, cars stuck in the middle of the road and abandoned by owners, wich made imposible to clean the road and a neighbour died last night and took hours to the police to get an ambulance close enough to take the body out of here. NJ was declared in state of emergency.

ICE AGE?.....yep.

No worries..mate..at least all us English might get a bit of warmth from the ashes..when they arrive..

ok take this link into account www.news.com.au...

Now it's summer here remember this, take into account the extremes that are occuring in our country, the western half is burning up with 45 degree days, the northern end is experiencing floods like never before so is central eastern side of australia and the southern half is getting snow in certain area

In summer the whole of Australia is on average 30-40 degrees sunny and dry.

This weather is extremly out of ordinary for this time of year and well look at our last winter for a bit of history? best snow season in since they built the resorts! Now taking into account the rest of the worlds entering winter and you guys are experiencing blizzards that are relevent with an ice age coming up

Well Australias turn is in about 6 months but if this trend keeps up i can see us getting snow a lot sooner!

In a way i hope we get an ice age here because we get ripped off to see the snow, there is nowhere free in Australia to see the snow or live in the snow besides small communities with nothing around them. it will be good to see it snow in one of the cities and be a good finger up to the resorts who have ripped us off for too long

it's actually cheaper for australians to fly overseas to the snow for 3 months

I would rather try and make it through an ice age better then warming adn it would help end pollution. on response to you wanting tolive in snow it is fun for a few days then you just wish it would go away so you can go outside. it gets so cold your body starts hurting. also not all snow is playable snow if it is wet you can play in it but if it is a drier lighter snow there aint no amount of packing that will make a snowball or snowman

Well to add to another theory of ice age, according to the weatherman 6 cyclones are predicted for january alone in QLD !!! only 5 weeks till the end of Jan if this is true it could be devastating on the country.

And the weather patterns having warm air up top clash with cold cair below will create massive thunderstorms around NSW/VIC as well as massive amounts of rain coming down

wouldn't suprise me if we got a bit of snow in autum

All the claims of Ice Age are amusing. The current patterns are actually indicative of a warming pattern. Snow requires moist air. Polar melt supplies the moist air, combine with correct air conditions.. suprise, suprise you get snow. Check the data current and historical and the pattern is there to see.

You'll have your Ice Age when glaciers begin to advance not retreat as is the current pattern.

Climate change happens/has happened/will happen again. We are but a tiny ember in a forest fire of change.

Gee man its la nina, the last one we had this strong was in the 70's. it has nothing to do with anything else but water temps. hotter the water the more evaporation, the more evaporation means more clouds, which means more rain.

You know the last cyclone to hit Perth WA ( passed by), cyclone Alby 1978 also in the period of La Nina

I don't think there will be an iceage in 2012. I've studied many many things in physics and sciences that relate to this, as well as many ancient prophecies.
After years of study on all of this it appears to me that 2012 will be an event of a massive electrical storm over all earth. It will wipe all data off any magnetic or flash type storage device as well. People will disappear. Sun will turn black and moon red, as we experience a GALACTIC eclipse, which shadows us from the passing of TIME itself, which I know to be an exchange of certain neutrinos against the largest of free particles- made large enough to escape the kinetic DeBroglie wave based event horizon of a black hole.
Now in 2019 after earth has experienced a lot of heat from our sun which has now had multipoles along it's equator for some time, the sun will suddenly exit the galactic axis which has no bias in particle exchange to give it a north or south pole flux. This will cause the sudden forming of a N and S pole with no poles along it's equator once again. This event I suspect to cause a massive solar storm, sending quite likely atleast one big flare to strike earth and burnt it to hell.
It says in the bible how no man will know when god will come to him but it does also say that god will return to earth when the sun turns black as sackcloth and moon as blood. If believers do not answer the call without delay, they will be left behind to suffer with the other losers for 7 years of tribulation.

Yet another thread about the weather is not like last year or the year before.

What would be odd is to have the weather the same several years in a row.

All of these threads about the weather sounds like an old ladies' luncheon.

Clearly you know better than climatologists who say that ice melting leads to less salination which leads to currents changing which leads to - - (you fill in the blanks).
Certainly for Europe anyway.

Better ? Indeed not. However, changing currents alone, do not cause an Ice Age. Changing currents cause climate change. You need a drop in global mean temperature for the onset of an Ice Age. This would be caused by an increase in the Earth's albedo which would be caused by...you guessed it expanding (not receding) surface ice and snow-pack.

You conveniently forgot the word "some" before climatologists. It is far from an exact science.
