Trying to stay on topic though, Revelations is a tricky chapter that is so esoteric I doubt everyone will see it the same way. Without just the right perspective it sounds kind of ominous. The understanding of the universe and how it works is more of a technical feat than inspiration for the heart and soul.

Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
“Because to you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them, it has not been given…Therefore, I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, ‘Hearing you will hear and not understand and seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, and I should heal them’.” (Matt 13: 10 - 15 - emphasis added).
In Mark's rendering the "lest they should see.." means exactly the same thing - "to prevent them from seeing..."There is simply no other legitimate way to understand this phrase here, without doing violence to this text. But John’s account is even stronger!
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts”
John records this same prophecy from Isaiah. But he also uses it to explain why they did not believe, in-spite of His numerous miracles. John says,
“But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: ‘Lord who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?’ Therefore also, they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: ‘He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn so that I would heal them.’” (Jn 12: 37- 40).

Agreed, Revelations is not about the end of the world. it is about the journey of the disciple to find the kingdom of God within. However John knew how people loved the end times talk even back then as much as they do today. It almost did not make into the cannon as it was so esoteric and few understood it but the end times fascination won out. He wrote it in those terms to peak interest and it worked. But those who have ears and eyes to hear and see can see the path to the Kingdom so to speak.
