Hi guys and gals,

I was looking at this map here

earthquake.usgs.gov...

and I guess I have never looked at this because I wondered what the SAFOD Drilling site was.

so I googled it and found something interesting that you may or may not know about.

EarthScope Peeks Beneath the Crust

geology.about.com...

It's an old article but since I didn't know about I thought it interesting and there's some good links there too.

A couple quakes I just saw:

Monday September 5 2011, 05:12:35 UTC 16 minutes ago Northern California 2.9 40.0 Detail
Monday September 5 2011, 05:05:38 UTC 23 minutes ago Reykjanes Ridge 4.9 11.2 Detail
Monday September 5 2011, 04:52:19 UTC 36 minutes ago Kenai Peninsula, Alaska 1.5 45.4 Detail
Monday September 5 2011, 04:45:07 UTC 43 minutes ago Luzon, Philippines 4.8 35.1

Is that Reykjanes Ridge a place anyone remembers seeing before?
I don't recall ever seeing one in that area, or hearing of one there.

yep.
about 13 pages back Vanuatu was discussed

heres the page on Vanuatu I did on Swarms there...link

the last 7.0 on the weekend and this 6.1 are isolated events though, not part of a continious sequencial swarm episode ie this 6.1 happened 24 hrs after the 7.0, with nothing in between, on USGS anyway, unless they are not reporting them

Seen plenty in that area - not the most common but definitely not unusual to see them there. Not quite as usual to see a wee swarm.. worth watching.

Yes it comes up from time to time but not normally this many 4+ at a time.

There has been an ongoing swarm for some time recently but further north than this set of quakes which are quite far south along the ridge, actually just over 400 miles south.more like almost due west from me (800 miles)

I am a Taurus. I hate it, but then I never use the site much for seeing what has happened so as ling as they don't change the listing they output I really don't care.

Did you not the link to reports an earthquakes that is not listed? Oh boy that is going to cause them some grief!!

www.abovetopsecret.com... (bump)

and then also noticed the series of MAG 4+'s at that spot...(you mentioned above)

MAG 4.6 08:22:47 59.004 -30.760 10.0 REYKJANES RIDGE
MAG 4.7 07:19:04 59.040 -30.706 11.0 REYKJANES RIDGE

MAG 4.6 05:44:08 59.046 -30.701 10.0 REYKJANES RIDGE
MAG 4.9 05:05:38 59.143 -30.815 10.2 REYKJANES RIDGE

SEE: earthquake.usgs.gov...

and i was wondering if there is a possible link...

also loved your idea/apology RE: solar flare...that was beautiful...and very clever...

and NO you are not a fearmonger... information is enlightenment...

thanks again...

Hi. Other than the fact that these earthquakes at Reykjanes are on the mid-Atlantic ridge, which carries up through Iceland and past Katla, there is no connection between them.

These are quite a long way off Iceland and in an area which sees a few of these from time to time. Normally they tend to be under Mag 5

Thanks for the nice comments. Appreciate it.
