I'll have another look at that later in the day ( end of month office work right now), Whakamaru and Reporoa are further away from Tokaanu than Taupo is.
What exactly is the station code name of Taupo you are quoting, Taupo has its own little network of stations (being a volcano itself.
RATZ is the closest to the swarm, www.geonet.org.nz... its not available off the earthquakes drums page, its off the volcanos page
Edit: OK I'm done now.
I see there were 3 more quakes at Tokaanu and 3 in the lake itself today.
When I did my download yesterday I actaully skipped the 27th to get to the Tokaanu Swarm, and missed something really interesting.
There was a quake (perhaps the first one in this swarm) at the other end of the Tokaanu Hydro Tunnel in Lake Rotoaira right at the Intake Race. The the swarm itself on the other side of the mountain just south of the power station itself.
I'm wondering if there wasn't a massive download of water out of the Lake for some reason, it is Winter after all, maybe it was at capacity.
Now keep in mind that right where the swarm was is also a huge Aquifier (underground resevior)
Heres the quake prior to the swarm at the tunnel intake
2.288, 3569433, -39.02259, 175.71281, 2011/8/27 19:19:6, 8, Lake Rotoaira, Te Ponanga Saddle Rd, Otukou 3382, No
location map
and heres the swarm map again
I'm not thinking that the massive rush of water through the tunnel and out the tailrace caused the earthquake swarm, but perhaps the change of what may have been hundreds of thousands of tons of weight from Lake Rotoaira over to the Tokaanu side upset the balance of the underground natural reservoir there
The Tokaanu- Waihi Geothermal Feild is about 3k to the NW.

have a look at the big picture....world 'wobble' happened couple of hours ago. Can't believe Bandan Sea quakes were big enough to set ALL of these off?
