so???
no MAG 5 = NO mag 5... fullstop...
we usually experience 5-or 6 every day... thats all...
and only 2 yesterday is leaving us way short on "events"... statistics wise...
MY point???
i guess the longer U go without "bigger" quakes, the more pressure builds up...no?

Richter Scale - Logarithmic scale for measuring earthquake magnitude. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake generates 10 times larger amplitude waves than those of a magnitude 6.0, and releases 32 times more energy.

SO,,,
what is the stat...???
a 4.9 is TEN times less energy than a MAG 5 ???
or is it 100 times less???
and i know E/Qs are ( more or less) RANDOM...
but i still find it fascinating trying to keep up with them,
and ( blame the brain), trying to find "patterns"...
thats all, sorry to spoil your fun...

A mag 5.0 is 1.4 times stronger than a mag 4.9.
Not much really but you have to remember it is logarithmic.
