I'm from Long Island, NY and I swear I just felt a small EQ. Sitting on my couch I felt it rock back and forth, kinda like if I was out at sea, and I thought it was just me dreaming up things or somethings, then I noticed my pots and pans, which are hanging, are bouncing into each other. Needless to say, Long Island does not experience EQs, like ever.

Hi All,

I have just experienced my first earthquake here in Fredericksburg VA. It was bad enough to knock things off the
shelves, and of course I am freaking out a bit as this is my first one! My entire house shook and my hubbie and I ran outside after about 3 seconds.

Many of our neighbors ran out too, just as equally freaked by the occurance. Im off to see if I can find any more info. (Lived in MD,VA DC area most of my life and never felt an earthquake before!)

I hope Washington DC got leveled.

Wouldn't be a big loss.

Nuclear attack on the White House?

5.8 could have done some damage East side. Worse than Colorado.

Im laughing because I should have know ATS would be on top of things as soon as they happen!! I discovered that VA actually has a seismic zone, but the earthquakes are usually pretty small, about 1.0-2.5 and are usually not
felt. Link to site

I think the largest one on record is a 5.8 in 1897 in Giles County VA. I wonder if this most recent one will beat it?

I cant make a call on my cell now. I think the lines are overloaded. Actually, I just tried make a call on my land line
and I just get a busy signal. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
