What are your favorite video game series?

Unquestionably, the Baldur's Gate series (for PC, you console barbarians!) is the premiere RPG of the decade. It consumed my life.

1. (of all time) the Baldur's Gate set: BG1, Tales of the Sword Coast, BG2: Shadows of Amn, BG2: Throne of Bhaal

2. Mechwarrior series, particularly 2 and 4 Mercenaries

3. System Shock- hands down the msot underappreciated series in history. I've spent quite a few hours walking the halls of the Von Braun and Citadel in a state of absolute terror.

4. The 'Lancer series (Starlancer and Freelancer)

5. The Total War series. Can't get enough of thsoe sweet, sweet battlescenes.

Command and conquer's franchise has gotten stale lately, so I didn't include it. As for Deus Ex...I found the second one a bit buggy and simplistic compared to my namesake. No gamer can call themselves such without having played through the above in my mind, though.

Ah, the days of diablo. Had 77 nec, full trang set before the Great Reset. Diablo is pretty good, but had its' problems, especially in sinlge player.

tsk tsk tsk america's #1 legal hard drug...EverCrack. starcraft series was excellent, featured an unprecedented gameplay with realistic effect as of 1997. i knowticed metal gear solid is almost everyone's favortie series, not surprising. the story for MGS is by FAR the best ever. you played till the end and realize everything was just a fraud, EXCELLENT!! can't wait till MGS 3 comes out!!!

and how about that hideo kojima. the most briliant game script writer ever.

Wizardry (Wizardry VIII is by far the best in the series)
Falllout (Fallout 1 is the best)
Sa-Ga (Romancing Sa-Ga 2 is my favorite from the series)
Megami Tensei (and all it's spin-offs - Shin Megami Tensei 2 is my favorite from the series)
Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior here in the states - Dragon Quest V is my favortie from the series)
The Elder Scrolls (Daggerfall is my favorite)

Icewind Dale 1 & 2

Planescape Tormet...Wow, even today

Odd, I noticed one very popular series went completely unnoticed...Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Tony Hawk UnderGround which consecutiavely set the bar higher for skating games. Oddly enough I think I still have played the demo of THPS 1 more than any other of the THPS games, my friends and I were obsessed with the game when it came out.

my vote is for the Starcraft series and the Mech Warrior series. Those are my favorites.

Say what you will but I have always been a fan of the Jak series. They arent your typical kiddie games but rather a challenging game. It took me forever to finish Jak 2. Now they are releasing Jak 3 soon which looks to be the best yet. The screen shots look amazing and action packed. Its sad that this will be their last installment.

Sonic The Hedgehog! Series

Im surprised no one has said this!

Its got to be the most mindless fun you could ever want from a console!

I have played every installment from when it first came out and have played everyone of them on every console since.

My favorite memories of Sonic and the best IMO was when it came out on the Sega Dreamcast the most underrated console ever!

I remember playing the same level for hours because you could post your high score online and win prizes which was the first of its kind for a console.

You could download special events like playing easter and halloween and christmas type levels and you could post your high scores for that aswell, theres nothing like the sensation of having the best score in the world, even if it were for a day or so!

So sad everyone turned a blind eye to it when the PS2 came out even though the graphics on both systems were almost identical and IMO DC was better and faster.

Shenmue! Series

Now this has to be the best game of all time by far!

The graphics were amazing (And if you own a copy and a DC they still look good now!) the gameplay was amazing, just everything about it was amazing even though it was abit linear than i preffer but its the story line that set it apart from everything else.

Sega is the most original and best games developer ever and no one can even come close.

probably the diablo series without a doubt.

Amen to that. I think I said it, but as I have no space-consuming avatar (still haven't figured those things out), my posts tend to get lost easily.
