Wikileaks founder Assange bailed, but release delayed

www.bbc.co.uk

The founder of whistle-blowing website Wikileaks, Julian Assange, has been granted bail in London on conditions including cash guarantees of £240,000.

But he will remain in prison pending an appeal against the bail decision lodged by Swedish prosecutors.

Mr Assange is fighting extradition to Sweden, where he is accused of sexually assaulting two women earlier this year.

He denies the charges, which he says are politically motivated and designed to discredit him.

His lawyer Mark Stephens said the case was turning into a "show trial".

When I read here at ATS this morning I thought he is free. But as it seems not yet.

Sweden is trying the best they can, to keep him in prison and get him extradicted. Or is it a rather a time playing game. I am not sure.

Well within 48 hour we should know more, when the highest court has decided.

Don't mean to jump on your thread and derail it bit I posted this last night here abovetopsecret.com...

Sorry on the way to work so can't format it properly, hopefully between us we can get a discussion going. Seems like an interesting strategic game is a foot and I really can't predict the outcome.

Peace
