Could U Find Yourself Attracted to Another Member

Based on replies and or threads. I know that this seems like a weird question, but I was curious. There are many of us that spend, just as much, or maybe even more time with members of ATS. Even though we seem to get to know only "one" side of them, based on whatever subject you read, it is still sometimes a post that we cannot talk to others about.

Could our logical, inquisitive, and need to think outside the box side, actually cause us to have "feelings" for that particular person? And if so, could it be taken to another level?

Just a thought, I was wondering if I was the only one who wondered about this.

I don't see why not. People get together all the time based upon common interests, and intellectual pursuits such as this could definitely create a bond.

Probably not. I am very cautious. For all I know, Piranha could be a psychotic rapist in real life that has evaded capture for the past three years after 28 victims. Some even repeat victims. Just sayin'..

I am wildly happily married. 16 years, and i feel like a teen going through puppy love.

But i once did happen across a picture of the breasts of one of our members. she was pretty hot. were i not so wildly in love, i may possibly be willing....

....nah, i don't know any of you well enough to even think about it. You just have no clue what I have with my wife. It truly is something special. It is what creates anything positive in me as a man.

on a side note, there is a somewhat local forum that i joined at the request of my mom (so we could interact a little more).

there is a "members only" section where you can request access and you are voted in by members. they meet up, do stuff like charity work, or parties, or whatever.

i quickly was reminded why it is just me, my wife, my sons, and my dogs in my daily life routine: the world is neurotic. I like my corner of quiet sanity.

I met someone through ATS while I was living in Chicago. His name here is Loki Lyesmyth - I came to visit him on July 8th and never left! We now live together in Florida and I have an awesome job and a great relationship...

I think it's possible. One thing, you don't have the physical part (looks) to distract you. You get to know the hearts and minds of people by reading their posts. Sure, people can lie. It is the internet, after all. But, a little of one's true self still bleeds through. That's a good question, by the way.

The best would be put a REAL pic of self up in profile..

That would be worthy.. Looks or Intellect.

Thanks you guys for the replies. I guess the reason for it passing my mind is, that sometimes this is the ONLY place that I can come to and have these types of discussions, or read about things that seem to only interest very few people that I know.

Whether I constantly agree with someones thread, or even disagree, I will visit there profile, and see other threads, and sometimes think, boy, I know so-so, would sure be cool to hang out with and have a cup of coffee, or maybe a beer and discuss things further. NOT literally of course.

This isn't about falling in love, but actually not feeling out of place with another, or trying to dumb down to be part of a crowd. Now that I read this, I'm thinking that I may just be evolving from the regular people that I converse with, and haven't really noticed until now.

I guess when we have virtual reality, would a possibility like that even exist

Thanks SM. That was also something that came to mind. There are no real pics of people, you have to get to know the part, that if you were actually looking to date someone, things like we discuss on ATS would be after the 15th date , or maybe on your honeymoon.

Oh yeah I guess except for the member photo threads, but even those pics are the type that most people wouldn't post on a dating site. People are "real" in those pics, no need to impress, just share. Its an entirely different perspective I guess.

You're welcome, and thanks for posting this thread. I agree that the topics discussed usually only come up a few months to a few years together. There is a broad range of things to talk about on ATS. So, in effect, you can get to know somebody before actually meeting. Thanks to this, the dating world has changed a lot since the invention of the internet.
