I've seen this pic before, what really stands out to me however is that there was no "branding" during that time period and the cut of the T-Shirt is more modern day. What is that "M" on the t-shirt, what does it stand for, MTV maybe...LOL? The glasses are also very interesting but look like they might be the type that were used by motorcycle riders. Still it's pretty odd, but the "branding" on the t-shirt bothers me the most.

Cheers - Dave

First I don't think it's a T-shirt, T-shirts weren't popular as outer wear until the 50's mainly because of James Dean it's a football / hockey Jersey the M is the name of the team (like Minnesota)
Here is a 1940's football jersey with a boat neck

That's pretty crazy, however I have a gut feeling this is just another advertisement.

For some reason people today think people during this time did not have access to sunglasses or welding goggles.

Or had bad haircuts.

And they don't even bother to read other people's opinions.
THAT's the real problem here.

DaveSpanners has sunglasses dating from 1918; and, as I said before, in 1941 they had been readily available (and inexpensive) for more than ten years in the USA.

But I am sure none of this matters in the least...

Your reply seems to indicate that you believe the photo was taken in Russia. (I apologize if I've misinterpreted your post). In actuality, the photo was taken at the 1941 reopening of the South Fork Bridge in Gold Bridge, British Columbia, Canada. The photo was found in Canada's Bralorne Pioneer Museum in Bralorne, British Columbia.

Here is their website: Bralorne Pioneer Musuem. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see the copyrighted image listed under 'Featured Images'.

The image you're referring to is much clearer than that of the OP's. Best to look at that one if you're trying to study it.

If you look closely at his hands it looks like he's holding something.

I've always thought that maybe the guy is a local who dressed like that all the time, so wasn't sticking out to the people around him.
And he either had a bike or motorcycle....his hair looks messy in the "wind-through-my-hair-gotta-get-it-outta-my-eyes" pushed back kind of way, not really a bad haircut.

Oh, and to 'spanner "Cool Shades!"

OK. You have the ability to travel back in time.

You are part of team of explorers/adventurers and your lives will be at risk from the very start. You probably can't come "back." You probably have an expected lifespan of 80+ years.

So, ... you choose BC in 1941, of all possible "targets." ( What did you do with the remaining 60 years of your life? Live in obscurity?)

Maybe Nibiru was visible then?

deny ignorance

The shirt the gentleman has on looks like a University of Michigan shirt. With the block M.
Maize and blue are the colors, for those that are not familiar with UM.

The guy with the shades really does stand out.

Whenever some bloke with a total different outfit shows up now, people have a tendency to stare...
Why are those people not looking at him ?

Because, they are attending the re-opening of a bridge, just like the gentlemen in the picture...Why would they be staring at a guy in a crowd?

Your glasses are awesome! For some reason they remind me of an evil Nazi scientist or something. I wonder how much they would go for on ebay.....Back to ze topic, he kinda looks like he's got the greaser look going, a trend-setter indeed.. It would have been cool if the shirt had more distinguishable features or a modern print.

Very dapper I must say.

Would compliment a boat necked jersey quite well!
