Before grabbing the pitchforks and getting the bonfire ready, I think a lot of people are still stuck n the old mindset concerning this. The truth is that now the people who used to give to charity are needing charity themselves. People who used to donate food to pantries are incapable of feeding themselves now. Our entire thought process on this and welfare has been turned on its ear. We DO have a LOT of fraud here in the US concerning welfare and unemployment.. and social security.. but now its a different game.

Perhaps your reading comprehension skills need some brushing up on.

I said many, not millions. Read it again.

And if you don't think there are people out there who would milk unlimited/lifetime unemployment benefits, you have your head in the sand.

the rich people create jobs with their money.
why do u think unemployment is skyrocketing?
our socialist government keeps passing new laws
to regulate small businesses.
Business owners are having to lay off people to
compensate with the new taxes & regulations.
And you guys want to fix a gaping wound by putting

First it's children, now it's reading comprehension. Is it possible for you to make a post without attempting to insult someone first? You do know they deem that 'childish' in academic circles don't you?

So that completely excuses cutting the benefits of the other 98% of people who actually need it? What kind of a monster are you?

since Israel has been found to have nuclear weapons for certain every penny given to them by the us government is ILLEGAL

But thanks for adding to the list of places the US should not be involved with, which have no benefit to the US.
Say, where's the missing BILLIONs from Iraq?

That would buy some tents and stuff for all the homeless verterns who fought for international interests not really to defend the US
concern for them is touching

or rummy's trillions from the day before 911?

Yes I said reading comprehension. Anyone who reads 'many' as 'millions' is in short supply of it.

Not an insult, just stating the obvious.

And just out of curiosity, how long would you extend unemployment benefits? Another two years? Ten? Fifty years?

The free ride has to end some time. It doesn't matter when this happens it will make people unhappy. I'm not in favor of a welfare state. I'm tired of working my ass off and watching some guy make more than me with unemployment and welfare talking on his Iphone. Some Americans need to detox from their overspending and free rides because they lack the drive to get out and get it done. The free check is just too easy now days.

I get it that there is high unemployment, but you traded hope, change and free checks for entrepreneurship, capitalism and the free market. Welcome to socialism!

this is utterly disgusting! im not american if from the uk but this is horrendous! how can they live with thierselves by cutting peoples benefits?...its not as though there are plenty of jobs to go round is there? what about families with young babies and children? how will they feed thier babies or clothe them?

its not as though they were given plenty of notice to at least try and secure some kind of income! but yea food safety more important, i dont even know what they mean by food safety?! that enough gm products are in our food? that were getting that steady dose of poison?

so its ok just let people starve to death, make them homeless, and near christmas?? uuurgh im sickened!!

No one is starving you can get food stamps but most will not take food stamps while on unemployment because they take it out of your check...

No one is *going hungry* because of this....

99 weeks seems like a long enough extention....

If we had the money to pay for it I wouldn't mind but America doesn't...

I have to agree with you Darkrunner. My brother in law did the same thing. He milked unemployment for almost 2 years. When he was about to get cut off from benefits he actually started looking for a job. He found a job 2 weeks after he started looking.

It's called unemployment insurance for a reason. It is meant to keep you going until you find another job not support you for life. I think 99 weeks is plenty of time to find something.

It happens more often than you would think. I am not saying all recipients of unemployment benefits milk it out till the last possible second, but there are MANY that do. And you can bet if the benefits were extended another 99 weeks, there would be people waiting till the end of THAT extension before they decided to look for employment.

Yes I said reading comprehension. Anyone who reads 'many' as 'millions' is in short supply of it.

Not an insult, just stating the obvious.

According to this website: Tradingeconomics.com the current unemployment rate for October of 2010 in the U.S. is 9.6%. According to this website Census.gov the current U.S population stands at 310,826,506.

9.6% of 310,826,506 = 29,839,344. That's 29.8 MILLION people. You referred to 'many' of those 29.8 MILLION people - and according to Thefreedictionary the accepted use of the word 'many' is described as thus:

man·y (mn)
adj. more (môr, mr), most (mst)
1. Being one of a large indefinite number; numerous: many a child; many another day.
2. Amounting to or consisting of a large indefinite number: many friends.
n. (used with a pl. verb)
1. A large indefinite number: A good many of the workers had the flu.
2. The majority of the people; the masses: "The many fail, the one succeeds" (Tennyson).
pron. (used with a pl. verb)
A large number of persons or things.

Therefore I can only assume, by the dictionary definition of the term' many' plus the calculations of the amount of currently unemployed, that you meant in the order of MILLIONS of people.

Reading comprehension? Methinks you need to learn some of this yourself.

Not an insult, you understand, just stating the obvious

Please then, enlighten us all as to your definition of the word 'many' and how it does not directly translate into 'millions' of people - considering of course you find disgust in 'many' of those that are on unemployment.

This should be good.......... I think I'll go grab some popcorn and enjoy this!

Good post.............now read my location.

Former secretary of housing Catherine Austin Fitts agreed, stating that in the attempt to build a global American-run military empire, trillions of dollars have been shifted out of the United States by both legal and illegal means to reinvest in Asia and emerging markets through taxpayer bailout money coupled with Fed loans to foreign banks. In doinig so, she said we have left econommic sovereignty behind. "finally, the expense and corruption of empire resulted in bailouts of $12-14 TRILLION, delivering a new financial war chest to the people leading the financial engineering (the globalists). Now we have exploding unemployment, an exploding federal deficit, an Inspector General for teh TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) bailout program predicting that the ultimate bailout cost could rise to $23.7 TRILLION........," says Fitts.

With this lost money came lost jobs. Unemployment figures are usually a good gauge of the nation's economy. In mid 2009, enemployment was officially 9.4 percent. If for some reason this number seems low, one must note that these numbers do not include "those who would like a job but have stopped looking - so-called discouraged workers - and those who are working fewer hours than they want," said Dennis Lockhart, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta. With these numbers included, the unemployment rate would move from the official 9.4 to 16 percent. As 2010 progressed, so did the unemployment figures, which began to match the numbers of the Great Depression.

Yet unlike the 1930's, money was still available; and money is the life-blood of a zombie nation. The trappings of wealth and bankers' lifestyles are often adminred by outsiders with a fervency bordering on religious, yet only those who live these lifestyles understand the inner workings of the money cult. And they work hard to keep these inner workings secret."

Source of above material from "The Trillion Dollar Conspiracy" by Jim Marrs page 51-52

(there are very few jobs out there, particularly for older workers - companies want them young. My job was outsourced to someone in India)

Want a real eye opener, buy the book and read about the Federal Reserve and how our economy is manipulated.

Than progress to proof we are indeed living in a Police State.

This book is pricey at $18.00 but worth every penny.

Knowledge is protection. Ignorance will mean your destruction.

The average person both here in America and in Britian (now almost globally) is being screwed BIG TIME.

It's all a shell game and like Las Vegas, the winning hand is usually with the house.

Below are quotes from some very knowledgeable people on what happens when banks, businesses and government decide to share the same bed.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the Government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs". - President Thomas Jefferson.

"Whoever controls the volume of money in any country is absolute master of all industry and commerce". - President James A. Garfield

"If (As the supreme court had recently inferred) Congress has the right under the Constitution to issue paper money, it was given to them to be used by themselves, not to be delegated to individuals or corporations". - President Andrew Jackson

"The modern banking system manufactures money out of nothing. The process is perhaps the most astounding piece of sleight of hand that was ever invented". - Major L.B.Angus

:Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin.....Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them but leave them the power to create money, and, with the flick of a pen, they will create enough money to buy it back again.....Take this great power away from them and all great fortunes like mine will disappear (he was said to be the second richest man in Britain) and they ought to disappear, for then this would be a better and happier world to live in.....But, if you want to continue to be the slave of the bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let the bankers continue to create money and control credit". - Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England

"I had never thought the Federal Reserve Bank System would prove such a failure. The country is in a state of irretrievable bankruptcy". - Senator Carter Glass, June 7, 1938

"The Federal Reserve (privately owned banks) are one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever seen". - Senator Louis T. McFadden (for 22 years Chairman of the U.S. Banking and currency Commission)

~~~~~~~~~
There were two US Presidents that went up against the Federal Reserve that come to mind, President Abraham Lincoln and President John F. Kennedy.............and we all know what happened to them.
*** Another good book to understanding what is going on is "Hostile Take Over" by David Sirota.
America and Britian, you haven't seen anything yet. The NWO is being ushered in by breaking the banks on a global scale which will make mandatory one world currency via micro chip.
You've been warned.
I don't believe you. What now?
I don't give a rats behind what you believe little boy. My cousin was one, as was one of my friends dad. Took the entire allowable length of unemployment benefits and all available extensions, and then decided to look for work during the last month of unemployment availability.
Now go away child, unless you have something more to offer.
Classy.
Anyhow, sure...you make a valid point...some people abuse the unemployment compensation system, therefore people should stop getting it. This is the point made, and therefore, your correct...it should be stopped for all
Lets further it then, shall we?
The point of removing the welfare for the rich program (aka, the tax cuts due to expire) is that...with a nice big fat tax cut to the rich, they will hire people
I am sure we can find more than a handful of people whom make over 250k a year that have -not- hired anyone lately...therefore, by your example, the rich are soaking up their elite welfare also and that should end.
Damn the many because of the few, I like that line of thinking...its simple...very simple...like near infantlike simplism..and one thing we like in America, is simple.
Next up...Religion..there have been religious attacks, therefore all religious organizations should be considered terrorist organizations.
I have -never- been employeed by a rich man..ever...and doubtful you have either
I have been employed by companies and corporations..these corporations run from either a single person, a committee, etc...whom have invested their money into a company for whatever reason, but they take their money out when taxes are nice and low to profit...if taxes are a bit higher, they keep their money in and reinvest to grow the business and compensate for the taxes...
Growing businesses = creating jobs
removing money for savings = losing jobs.
Right you are. Up until August 31, 2010 I worked for a company for over 16 years until my job was allowed to be outsourced to India.
TPTB are systematically dismantling the middle class.
The below ex-text is from Jim Marr's "The Trillion Dollar Conspiracy" Page 44
THE RICH GET RICHER
It has long been saidthat the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. Many researchers equate the term "plutocracy" - ruled by the wealthy - with the New World Order.
Although the belief that an organized plutocracy controls the world has long been derided as merely a "conspiracy theory", G. William Domhoff, a professor in psychology and sociology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, has the statistics to prove its existence. Domhoff's first book, Who Rules America? (really good book) was a controversial 1960's bestseller that argued that the United States is dominated by an elite political and economic ownership class.
Using updated figures, Domhoff stated in a postings: "In the United States, wealth is highly concentrated in a relatively few hands. As of 2007, the top 1 percent of households (the upper class) owned 34.3 percent of all privately held wealth, and the next 19 percent (the managerial, professional, and small business statum) had 50.3 percent, which means that just 20 percent of the people owned a remarkable 85 percent, leaving only 15 percent of the wealth for the bottom 80 percent (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth (total net worth minus the value of one's home), the top one percent of households had an een greater share: 42.4 percent."
Hello, put down those ipods, cell phones, game toys and remotes and start to really educate yourself as to what train is headed towards you all....................
This book is a real eye opener.
And for anyone not acquainted with Jim Marrs, this fellow is one of the few real journalists, not some pretty, glorified prompt reader. This man comes from a time and place where journalists went out, investigated and really informed the public as to what was going on, not like our propaganda media that is now owned by the largest monopolistic corporations.
Jim Marrs was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on 5th December 5, 1943. His father, a strict Baptist, sold structural steel for a company in St. Louis. Marrs began working as a journalist while at junior high school. After graduating from University of North Texas in 1966 he attended Graduate School at Texas Tech in Lubbock.
After graduating from University of North Texas he joined the United States Army. On his release in 1968 he joined the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He served as police reporter and general assignments reporter covering stories locally, in Europe and the Middle East. After a leave of absence to serve with a Fourth Army intelligence unit during the Vietnam War, he became military and aerospace writer for the newspaper and an investigative reporter.
Marrs began to take an interest in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. After interviewing several members of the Dallas Police Department he became convinced him that the Warren Commission was a cover-up. Marrs continued to investigate the case and interviewed several important witnesses as well as city and county officials.
In 1976 Marrs began teaching a course about the assassination for the University of Texas at Arlington. He left the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1980 and worked as a freelance journalist while continuing to investigate the death of Kennedy. Marrs eventually became convinced that Lee Harvey Oswald had been set up by the government and in 1989 he published Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy. Published to critical acclaim and reached the New York Times Paperback Non-Fiction Best Seller list in mid-February 1992. It also became a basis for the Oliver Stone film JFK and he served as a chief consultant for both the film's screenplay and production.
Since 1980, Mr. Marrs has been a freelance writer, author and public relations consultant. He also published a rural weekly newspaper along with a monthly tourism tabloid, a cable television show and several videos.
Beginning in 1992, Mr. Marrs spent three years researching and completing a non-fiction book on a top-secret government program involving the psychic phenomenon known as remote viewing only to have it mysteriously canceled as it was going to press in the summer of 1995. Within two months, the story of military-developed remote viewing broke nationally in the Washington Post after the CIA held a press conference revealing the program but putting their own spin on psychic studies. Psi Spies is now available from JimMarrs.com.
In May, 1997, Marrs' in-depth investigation of UFOs, Alien Agenda, was published by HarperCollins. Marrs has been a featured speaker at a number of national conferences including the Annual International UFO Congress and the Annual Gulf Breeze UFO Conference. Publisher's Weekly described the book as "the most entertaining and complete overview of flying saucers and their crew in years." The paperback edition was released in mid-1998 and has since become the best-selling UFO book ever in the United States. Beginning in 2000, he began teaching a course on UFOs at the University of Texas at Arlington.
In early 2000, HarperCollins published Rule by Secrecy, which traced the hidden history that connects modern secret societies to the Ancient Mysteries. In 2003, his book The War on Freedom probed the conspiracies of the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath.
Other books by Jim Marrs includes Inside Job: Unmasking the 9/11 Conspiracies (2004), Terror Conspiracy, The: Provocation, Deception and 9/11 (2006) and Rise of the Fourth Reich (2008)
Source: www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk...
And from Jim Marr's site: This book I keep referring to, TPTB laid heavy pressure on his publishers to "take out certain parts" why? To make sure the rest of us remain in the dark.
CENSORED
By Jim Marrs
I have had five books cancelled on me under unusual circumstances, but for the first time in my experience as an author, I was overtly censored during the publication of my latest New York Times Best Seller The Trillion-Dollar Conspiracy.
The conversation with my senior editor went something like this:
EDITOR: “I did not contract for this and I suggest you take it out of the manuscript.”
JIM: “Well, I think this section is very important and should remain. It is well sourced.”
EDITOR: “Then let me put it this way. Either you take out this section or I won’t publish the book.”
The editor then proceeded to argue that this demand did not constitute censorship, a position to which I strongly disagreed.
Ironically, the section in question concerned how the corporate mass media censors the news.
“You’ve just proved my point, haven’t you?” I responded, knowing full well that for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which was the need to get the information in the book out to the public, I would eventually be forced to remove this section as well as some others.
And what was it that was so disturbing to this editor for a large corporate publisher?
These sections were removed in their entirety:
Media Control - 9/11 and Two Million Man March Linked Media Directorship
Top 25 Censored Stories
A False Picture of al Qaeda
Obama and the CIA
Here are the sections within the portion on media control that someone in the corporate world did not want you to see:
9/11 AND THE TWO-MILLION MAN MARCH
Despite the media’s widespread use, corporate imperatives can dictate both what and how the public is to think about any given topic. One good case in point concerns the attacks of September 11, 2001, colloquially known as 9/11.
Hundreds of books and articles, websites, DVDs, and feature films have been produced about this defining moment in the early 21st century, yet no one is any nearer to learning the real truth of the attacks. Yet, without 9/11 there would have been no hurried passage of the controversial PATRIOT Act, the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, the Military Commissions Act, the erosion of Constitutional liberties or the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. These unprovoked wars (neither country was involved in 9/11) based on erroneous information – weapons of mass destruction hidden in Iraq and Osama bin Laden hiding in Afghan caves – were continuing in 2010.
Like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, the years following 9/11 were filled with official pronouncements later shown to be untrue, and with charges, countercharges, and scientific evidence that were all called into question. The confusion created by the bickering creates a new kind of cover-up— one formed by ambiguity. There was no lack of evidence. Rather, high levels of confusion and obfuscation disallowed the average person to discern the truth.
Rest of article & source: www.jimmarrs.com...
After reading this book, I'm looking at my "money" and our banking system in a whole new light.
Lastly, no there is now a new breed of unemployed of which I am one.
I've been working since age 10 and have a very high work ethic.
There are no half way decent jobs out there for older Americans.
' 'Most Americans have no real understanding of the operation of the international moneylenders', concurred the late senator Barry Goldwater. The bankers want it that way. We recognize in a hazy sort of way that the Rothschilds and the Warburgs of Europe and the houses of J. P. Morgan, Kuhn, Loeb and Company, Schiff, Lehman and Rockefeller possess and control vast wealth.'
How they acquire this vast financial power and employ if is a mystery to most of us. 'International bankers make money by extending credit to governments. The greater the debt of the political state, the larger the interest returned to the lenders. The national banks of Europe are actually owned and controlled by private interests.'
These same private interests can be demonstrated to own and control the Federal Reserve System.' - Jim Maars "Ruled by Secrecy"
