Last saturday me and my friends went down to this abandoned asylum that's supposed to be haunted. This asylum is huge. It takes up about 3 blocks all together. It's been abandoned for years on end. All the windows are boarded up and it has a fence with barb wire on it with lots of "do not enter" signs. But we're dumb and had to enter just to see if anything happened. I've never been so scared in my life. Haha. Well anyways. We saw a couple buildings which had dimly light lights on every now and then. And when we would pass the buildings again there was no light at all from them. Which is beyond weird because there hasn't been electricity for years there. We kept hearing walking and movements around us but no one was there. It was really freaky.

Okay. You know on tv how they have those sirens for when a convict escapes? They're really really distinct. well we were in there and a siren just like that went off from the asylum. Remember there has not been electricity for years. So we have no idea why it went off or how. But that's about the time we left. Haha. It was way too freaky. But anyways we took some pictures. The weird thing is that NONE of the pictures we took inside came out. We used a digicam too. All the pictures we took INSIDE the asylum turned out black...even with flash. Which is really weird. So I only have some from outside of the asylum but theres some really freaky stuff about these pictures. So I thought I'd share with you guys.

This is one of the streets between two of the asylum blocks. This seems like a normal picture at first. But the scary thing about this picture is that the street lights that are lit, weren't on. They don't have the street lights on this street turned on because its a dead end only leading to the asylum and they don't want people going down it, thus they keep the street lights off. So yeah. It's really freaky how it looks like they are turned on. o.0

This is a picture ofthe outside taken in our car. We have no idea what that lil white light at the top is.

And this is the last picture that came out. My friends say they see people in this one if you look closely. I haven't decided if I agree or not yet. But yeah.

That place is so scary. I went to go look the place up online. And I found it on a california list of haunted places.

theshadowlands.net...

That site says:

Downey - Hollydale - Metal Hospital - In Downey behind the court house there is an abandoned metal hospital, but for some reason there is light shining thru, When all the power has been shut off for years now. When you pass by, you see one curtain closed but then there is also one curtain that will close when you pass by. There has been People who have gone inside and gone down stairs, when they went down stairs it was pitch dark, and suddenly books where being thrown at everyone there.

----

That's weird because it talked about the light/electricity thing we all saw in the buildings. So it's obviously happened to other people. Good thing we didn't go down any stairs.

----

I just thought I'd share my lil "blair witch" trip with you guys. We're thinking about going again with more than one camera. And adventuring longer. We aren't sure though.

I wasn't able to see any faces in that last picture, but it looks and sounds like a pretty spooky place to me.

I'd want about a dozen of my friends with me, at least, if I were going to go adventuring around in there.

I just noticed that'd make my group 13 in number...yikes.

Heheh.
Kool pics. Got more?

Just one thought on the lights and other things like the books going on in there. it is probably homeless people with candles and they could have thrown the books. I know that light from a candle is very distinct, it flickers and such, so I don't know. I live in Torrance, not too far. maybe I could go check it out as well. Sounds kind of freaky though. Definitely wouldn't want to go by myself though. Anix, are you going to go back? If so, when? I might want to go too, but then again, I might not want to either

Nah. Those are the only ones that came out. The rest were pitch black for some reason. Even with a flash. It's really weird.

Yeah. That is a thought. But the lights werent candle lights. The first light we saw wasn't even like a normal light. Then in what we think was the cafateria there was cleary a light on. We could see the actual light bulb. it's the kind most cafaterias have. The long kind that are placed in rows. Only the one in the back of the "cafateria" were on. We decided NOT to go in there. lol.

I just boosted the light in the last two pix to see them better. I can't see any people in the one and the light could be either a normal lamp-post or reflection from the car glass.

I think the light in the first picture is the flash on the camera reflecting off of the streetlamps. Either that, or it may have been your car headlights. Was your car near when you took the picture?

There usually are alot of unhappy spirits in old asylums and mental hospitals.

My mom works at a mental hospital that has been around forever. One of the last mental instutions still up and standing. They used to give electro-shock therapy, and beat the clients, and do horrible horrible things. There is one building, that has chains on the walls.

My mom was working nights one time, and I went to go pick her up, because her car broke down. She went to building R, (the haunted building), to get her coat that she put in there earlier that day. The lights were dim and we heard rattling and clanging, and the chains on the wall were flinging around, like an invisible person was in them. We heard a scream that sounded far away and yells (could have been real, theres other buildings around), and when we were leaving, I turned around and looked at it, and the lights were flicking on and off. Scariest thing thats happened to me. I think its definetly haunted.

Pisky - But there were no lit street lights on that street. remember? There's not even ANY street lights in that picture. That's a tree. Not a street light. Look closer.

Esoterica - And no our car wasn't with us. We parked it about 2 blocks away so no one would see it if a cop came by or something. So it couldn't have been the car. And I don't see how a flash could reflect like that.

Hey anix, which one is the asylum you visited on the link you provided? Like I said, I live in Torrance, so I wanted to check out the places that were listed in Torranced. One was Bishop Montgomery HS, which I live about a 1/4 mile away from. I also live about 1/2 mile from Redondo HS. Man, for some reason, thinking amnd typing about this is freaking me out. I keep getting the chills running up and down my spine. Yikes!

"Hollydale Mental Hospital" it's in downey. Right by a court house. I don't know much because I dont live around there. I live in San Diego county and was visiting a friend when we went. I wouldn't even know how to get there myself. Just look up directions for the court in Hollydale and it's right behind it. That would be my best guess at finding it again.

Thanks for the info Anix. I will check out the link and do a search on the net on it. This has really piqued my interest and the hairs on my neck!

Awesome. post what happens if you go! I REALLY REALLY WANT TO KNOW. But yeah. It's scary man. I've never been so petrified in my life. I was nauseous. Haha. And I've had my deal of creepy things but nothing compares to that place. The energy there is way different than anything I've ever felt.

And also. Tell me if this happens to you. We all had this burning sensation while inside. ALL of us. it was almost like we were burning on the inside out. And it was cold as #. So we don't understand.

Hey Anix, did you guys go at night? I do not want to go there at night. Was there a hole in the fence? Or did you have to climb over? Just curious cuz it is about 20 miles away, and let's see, being SoCal and our horrendous traffic, if I leave tonight, I should make it by Friday morning at the latest

Haha. Yeah we went in at 2 am. So it was VERY dark. We didn't have flashlights or anything. So it was even scarier because we just went spontaneous. It was just a random idea my friend thought of doing so we went like idiots.

And the weird thing is that the main gate was wide open when we went. Which is odd because supposedly its always locked up tight. So I dont know what that was about since there were no cars or anything near it. But I would suggest not to climb the fence since there is barb wire. Might hurt a little.

if you look in the mirror on the car u can see a intersection behind them with light... probally from a lightpost

Oh you're right. I forgot about that. It actually isnt an intersection. The blocks that the asylum is on is near a another street but is gated off. So it's like a dead end. I think it might even be a freeway. So that might have something to do with it...but...?
