I have my doubts this is a glitch - after all they are naming the aircraft involved. They are always right on with the map on quakes and other incidents as far as I know. I usually compare to their info to another site on quakes and volcanos. Going to go to a couple of other sites - see if I find anything.

Two Believed Dead In Plane Crash On Bear Hallow Mountain

This is from a Winchester, TN newspaper. The article was from 11/5, so it looks like the icons may be from last week as well...

This one is from Stow, MA....11/6

Thanks for that Memnoch, it certainly looks as if someone at RSOE could have hit the system restore button.

All the same the information from RSOE is usually pretty up to date and accurate and if this is a glitch or human error it shouldn't put anyone off using the information in its' correct context.

Forced FAA blackout on the info then while the situation was ongoing to keep everyone from panicking?

Major airport ground controls are normal right now. I figured if one thing was wrong, maybe the dates were wrong too. So, it's not just breaking, the information was just withheld.... That makes me feel TONS safer. /sarcasm.

I keep coming back to the fact that all (but 1 I think) showed the affected aircraft as the Warthog. Can't be accurate.

I noticed that too. Maybe it's showing the emergency exercises planned over the past few days. Still would be nice if they put some explanation in the event description.

Is it just me or does that map make it look like we're already in Armageddon? Look at all the erupting volcanoes, epidemic hazards, aircraft issues, all that stuff.

Well, they were in the air for about an hour before they had to turn back to Atlanta. They landed safely and are now boarding again, hopefully, they will make it this time!!

Sorry. Meant to reply earlier (and a little off topic) if the issue was with the anti-skid mechanism in the landing gear, why turn around? You are gonna have to land anyway...

Hi,

Recently posted this link for another thread - tends to focus on crashes but is factual....

aviation-safety.net...

Also as posted on the other thread - it is interesting that between 4 or 5 planes crash daily but some make the news and others don't....

Peace!

Hi

No earthquakes but there is another thread about the gale force winds (gentle beezes) that we are experiencing.

Peace!

Depends on a lot of factors, and what it says in the QRH [Quick Reference Handbook) or other Flight Manual references, regarding the various malfunctions and non-normals that can occur with various systems. This case, the Anti-Skid. If the system detects, and annunciates a fault of some kind, then the indications are looked up, to see what the recommendations/restrictions are.

Turning around back to point of departure? First, would need to know the airline (because of maintenance/repair concerns at intended destination...what will be available "in-house", and what is contracted out [more expensive]).

The destination airport, weather conditions, runway conditions (Wet? Heavy rain? Snow? that time of year is approaching). And, the physical length of runway, the stopping distance available. Procedures/restrictions will also vary by airplane type.

Lots of things go into a decision like this....need more info.

If i can add ... i watch RSOA quite a bit, and i've seen a similar thing before, where i would count as many as 10 aeroplane inciedents listed in the states alone n a given day.

Similar for earthquakes too sometimes. Yes worth watching, not worth panicking over ... yet

Thanks for posting this

The site has updated again to include the following information further down the main page. This wasn't available to me earlier, maybe others could see this, but it is certainly new to me and clears things up a little.

Good news, thanks for letting us know!

I think the A-10 is the first item in the database. The fact that there is a null ID for the aircraft would make it (depending on the coding of the site) default to the first record.

Therefore, it is not a bunch of A-10 issues, rather it is a bunch of invalid records.

Every incident I click on says the affected aircraft is an A-10 Thunderbolt. So... either lots of Warthogs are recently out of warranty or this site's data is messed up.

Anyways... let's hear it for the meanest looking aircraft ever built by man.
