I have been following the birth and track of this storm on the computer forcast models of the uk met office and ecmw, it looks to be quite a monster brewing up in the atlantic.
This post is just a heads up for people in the uk to be aware of very strong winds on the sw coast maybe up to 80-90 mph and 60-70 mph inland with heavy rain. The track of this storm is yet to be pinpointed but i think IMHO it will hit us.
This is only my thoughts but it could get bad with trees still in leaf and high tides to contend with.
The met office only have advisory warning at the moment but that will change nearer the time.
Here are the models for monday

I know this is off topic but yesterday in Cali was 100 degress. Which the weather channel stated was completely odd! A woman on there said it was weird because she escaped to NY to get away from the cold and normally its NY people are trying to escape from (cant remember word for word on the quote) Also, next week is in the 60's here in Indiana. By now, its in the 30's the highest temp. VERY weird. Anyways, not sure if thats where your located. Keep safe if it is!

Sometimes you do wonder though just how far they have improved. Poor old Mr Fish.
But definitely something to watch, I'm fairly close to the UK and we would probably catch some of that weather too.

And regarding the link in the post above, that describes changes that happened 10 to 20,000 years ago so I doubt it has much effect on us now. It doesn't say anything about the flow reversing currently.

Apologies pazcat

At the time i had a 3 year old crawling over me and was trying to read two articles one from weekly world news and searching the net for truth behind that article as you can't trust anything from that site, but failed to read it in full thanks to my little girl taking my mind off things, hence the short article.

soz again

thanks for the heads up!!

here in ireland they have flood warnings in place and some towns and cities have sandbags in place!!

maybe a bit of advice, stay indoors, dont drive on roads with a lot of trees, and be aware of your suroundings.

keep safe!! imo were in for a hell of a winter!!

Ive noticed a few of the larger fireworks displays have been cancelled for tonight due to adverse weather conditions which i imagine are the winds weve been experiencing over the last few days, cant remember the last time the big displays were off. Damn that inclement weather, i was looking forward to a jumbo hotdog and frozen toes.

I have a Met alert. At the moment it is yellow for a 60% or greater chance.

An unusually deep area of low pressure will bring a period of severe gales and heavy rain throughout Monday with inland gusts likely to reach 55-65mph in places, especially in areas exposed to the south to southeasterly winds. There is a risk of disruption due to falling trees, especially given that some trees are still in leaf.

In addition, roads on high ground in the Scottish mountains may well see significant snowfall causing disruption.

Issued at: 1134 Fri 5 Nov

Will let you know how it goes. 2 Miles from the North Sea.

I remember this storm very well, I was only 6yrs old and scaried! Our fence got blown down and the elecric went. I also remember my mum picking me up from the swimming baths down the road from our house. We struggled to walk up the hill, having to hold onto lamp posts all the way up the hill!
