THIS IS THE WORST DAY IN UNDER 3 YEARS OF MY LIFE.

Why do people on the left feel like they are so much more intelligent than those on the right? Out of all the sore loser whining threads created today this seems to be the general theme in all of them.

Look back to last summer with the town hall meetings about health care. It was pretty damn obvious the American people were against it by a wide margin yet they went ahead and passed it anyway. The people wanted the Government to work on the economy yet all the Democrats wanted to do was fill their bills full of pork instead of really trying to address the issues that are important to their constituents and they have paid the price.

This election had nothing to do with what the Republicans are going to do to fix things but was a direct result of the Democrats failure to do what they promised.

Well just to set you straight...

I am only a high school graduate with some college, am married (to a minority race) with children, only working a part time job for the past few years, making under $19k a year, have no health insurance and for the past few years have been sharing a living situation with other family members.

By your account, I am everything the republicans are against. Yet I don't want government giving me anything. I don't want government taking from any 'rich' person on my behalf or anyone elses. I don't want government provided health care, and I don't want government mandating that realm resulting in the quality of care available declining or becoming scarce.

You can keep your nanny state. I want to be free to make it or fail on my own.

You had me at the start but...before you even finished your first sentence you stated this:

"...obama who has been in office a little under 3 years..."

and that caused you lose all credibility. How on Earth can you not know that the end of Jan 2009 is less than 2 years ago let alone 3? There's a reason why they call them mid-term elections...Jeez!! Please God someone help America! How can people take a post or thread seriously when it is displayed that the OP has no grasp of a Calender or how long a year is? It shows that there has been no use of critical thinking in the preparation of this OP.

Despite my urge to stop reading at '3 years' I wanted to deny ignorance so I read on. what a shock to discover another member caught in this idiotic parochial juvenile left right paradigm. Please please avail yourself of the font of knowledge here at ATS and wake up from the brainwashing which is preventing you from seeing the fact that the democrats and republicans are equally to blame for the state of things.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM is corrupt. Left and right are just convenient labels used to disguise the amoral decay and rampant self-interest at the heart of almost every government currently in power around the globe. Countries were always a bad idea for the people. They have always been used for the benefit of the elites. Government over communities of more than 150 people will always result in corruption in some form. Without countries WW1 and WW2 would never have happened.

The troops didnt come home with democrats in office either. So this topic seems to be irrelevent to me.

Well a democratic president kept a promise to bring some if not 85% of them home,if a republican was in office the USA would syill be in red yellow and green alert brown orange purple ,and campaigns this election would of been trying to scare the dog living sh-- out of every body.

edit on 3-11-2010 by Immortalgemini527 because: (no reason given)

I wonder if you could be so kind as to provide everyone with confirmation that Obama has brought home 85% of the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. That means back home NOT re-deployed into theater. I may be wrong but I believe America has more troops abroad than ever and more troops abroad than any other country ever. And lets not forget US tax dollars funding the worlds biggest ever mercenary force. A force that is many times more expensive than troops and one which appears to be a law unto itself. Why is that?

you talk about republicans scaring the [snip] out of everybody. Isn't that what Obama is doing now with all this cargo bomb hysteria, naked body scanners etc. Just as other countries and indeed airlines begin to question the US stance of airport security all of a sudden just when he needed it a lot of bombs turn up in the aircraft industry. Thankfully though these false flags didn't do much to Obamas approval rating.

Why in Gods green earth of goodness and tranquility would a human even want to be or even vote a republican in office ,this world went through hell and back in those 8 hellish years of Bush tyrant presidency in office.

I'll take a shot at this one.

I think most of ATS is aware that our two party system is an illusion. There is only one real major party. For the sake of clarity, I'll call it the Bank Party. The Bank Party subdivides itself into the Republican and Democrat parties. This is done to give the people the illusion that they have a choice in elections and to allow people a target for their frustrations when those elected representatives act against the will of the people.

This illusion requires planning, though. Republicans are perceived to be in favor of certain things, and opposed to others. Vice versa for the Democrats. If the Bank Party wants to increase taxes, they have to do it when the Democrats are in control, so that the Republicans can be perceived to oppose it. If the Bank Party wants to lower taxes for the wealthy, they need a Republican majority so that the Democrats can offer a doomed opposition. That way, whenever the American people get screwed, they are told that they can "vote the bums out" and vote in the bums that they voted out last time.

Of course, that doesn't really help. When we vote in new bums they don't undo the damage done by the bums we voted out. People were upset by the Patriot Act, voted their discontent, but we still have the Patriot Act, and it's stronger than ever. Wars, torture, warrantless wiretaps, etc: there are numerous examples of that sort of thing. The Bank Party relies heavily on our short attention spans. Fortunately for them, their control of the Main Stream Media gives them many options to distract Americans with something "new".

There are situations, however, when the Bank Party has to forego the illusion. Whenever you hear the MSM talk about bipartisan support, be afraid. It is code-speak for "you're about to be royally screwed." The Bank Party doesn't like to use "bipartisan support" very often though, and with good reason. Every time they do, more and more people wake up to the fact that neither Republicans nor Democrats have the best interests of average Americans in mind when they enact legislation. This gives rise to more independent and third party candidates outside the Bank Party control. Those outside of the Bank Party's control must be either eliminated, marginalized, discredited, bribed, or whatever it takes to insure that they don't throw a monkey wrench into the Bank Party's carefully crafted schemes. As more people begin to recognize the Bank Party for what it is, it becomes harder for the Bank Party to marginalize and discredit third parties and independents, despite their control of the media.

A lot of people voted Republican this time around. The talking heads on the MSM will tell you it's because of the economy. But I believe it was because people were upset that their voices didn't matter in Washington. A majority of people were opposed to the bank bailouts, Washington ignored them. Notice how the MSM is still trying to sell them after all this time. A majority of people were opposed to the health insurance bailout, Washington ignored them. No matter what candidates say, the health insurance bailout isn't going to be repealed. The Bank Party will not allow it. A majority of people are opposed to amnesty for illegal immigrants, and they are beginning to realize that, when the time comes, their voice won't matter on that issue either

For the American people, an ideal Washington at this point would be an evenly split House, Senate, and an independent Whitehouse. That would force the Bank Party to expose itself even more, as major harmful legislation would require significant "bipartisan support" to beat a presidential veto. The closer we can get to that split, the better for us "Joe's". That's why people should have voted Republican this time around. Gridlock in Washington is our friend. As the number of Republicans and Democrats in Congress becomes more balanced, it opens the doors for more independents and third (second?) parties.

Unfortunately for your argument it wasn't about the so called 'Death Panels' but instead had to do with the Federal Government forcing it's citizens to buy something without a choice in the matter.

I really enjoy a lot of the right wing fantasies I get to read on ATS. I think it is really intriguing how many of you claim the ability to speak for each and every person you feel you should. I really hate to break this to you but yes, there were people that were legitimately afraid of death panels. Remember Senator Whatshisname telling people they were gonna "pull the plug on grandma?" I know there are people that are against the federal mandate but unfortunately not everyone against health care reform was all that thoughtful. There were plenty of these "really smart Republican voters" that actually beleived Obama care meant that old people, crippled people, and disabled people were going to literally be put down like dogs. Sorry if the fact that the world is full of stupid people is so icky that many cannot even accept it but there is a reason Jersey Shore is getting a 3rd season.
